An aside...

Technically, this one isn't a first issue, but it is a first appearance - in this case, the first appearance of Krypto the Super Dog!

Superman so quickly became a beloved character that it was only natural that fans wanted to know what he was like when he was a boy, and soon his teenage self was starring in 'Adventure Comics' and 'Superboy' - a series which told some of my favourite 'Super-tales' of all time and introduced characters that would become canon in the fictional history of Superman, including the Lana Lang, Pete Ross, and the first appearances of Bizarro, the Legion of Super-Heroes and of course Krypto the Super-dog!
