“uh-huh,” he answers, not looking up from the squirt gun held between his knees as he slowly poured the bottle of fake blood into the little opening. “i was gonna use real blood but healthcliff said that would be excessive.” all of this was excessive to be honest, but what about fred wasn’t? at this point all of his friends should know better than to question him whenever he did anything like this. @xx-honeeylemonn

“Well it’s not the worst plan you’ve ever had,” Gogo admits with a shrug, used to him bursting into the labs with something far more nonsensical in mind. Considering he isn’t even going to be the one making the tacos, it seems rather tame in comparison. “And you got it all the way here without crashing?” Considering he doesn’t even drive himself around she wouldn’t have had high hopes that Fred could maneuver a vehicle that large, but it seems to have made it here in one piece. “I’m almost impressed.” It’s as high of a compliment as he’s likely to get from her. “So how long do you think I have to stick it out before I can leave without Honey noticing?” she asks, pulling out her phone to check the time before she leans against the truck. These events have never been hear idea of a good time, especially not the ones that require her to wear a dress, but she finds herself showing up anyway, unable to disappoint Honey.

“Sure did,” he confirms, though leaving out the part that Heathcliff technically drove it the majority of the way here and Fred just took over to bring it down the large driveway that led to the spot they were currently parked at in front of the castle. Moving to sit on the little steps that lead up to the small entrance of the truck, he thought over Gogo’s question for a moment, giving it true consideration. “Have you already danced with her?” That was going to be a requirement of the night for all of the nerd squad, of course, and not something any of them will likely be able to get out of - not that Fred wanted to. “Cause I’d say you have to stay for at least an hour after you do that. But you should stay the whole night! It’ll be fun! What else are you going to do?”

With a giant box in his arms, Fred barely made it through the front door without tripping - but he was determined to get this done. After Honey Lemon sent out the picture of her and Gogo’s tree to the group chat, he knew an intervention was needed. “Where can I put this down? Right here good?” he asks, not even waiting to get an answer before he sets the decorations on the coffee table and starts rummaging through. “Your tree is pretty but it’s seriously lacking some flare here, Honey. Luckily for you, though, I have backups.” @xx-honeeylemonn

when gogo called his name out to stop him from getting on the ski lift that lead to the bunny hill, fred turned around in confusion. not that she could see that, considering his face was hidden behind the giant snow goggles he had on. “what?” he asked, making his way back over towards her. “didn’t you want to go skiing? that’s the lift that takes us to the top of the hill. i thought you’ve done this before?” the fact that gogo might not know how to do something was a shocker to fred - so used to his friend being a natural and nearly everything he’s ever seen her do. @tomagogo

setting the sled on the ground at the top of the hill, fred didn’t hesitate to drop right down onto it. he scooched as forward as he could and then patted the few inches of space behind him. “all aboard!” he called out like a train conductor, looking at danny with a big grin. the two sharing the one sled probably wasn’t the smartest idea and if either of them thought it through logically they’d know they wouldn’t make it far down the hill before the just toppled over - but fred has never been known to use any sense of logic in his life. all that mattered to him was how fun it would be to go sledding down the hill with danny right beside him. @imgoingghcst

Hands pressed firmly against the ground, deep in the snow as he sat on the sled with Kuki between his legs, Fred leaned forward with a grin. “You ready?” he asked, knowing she likely was but not wanting to push off down the hill until she was absolutely good to go. Though it was hard, the excitement and adrenaline already starting to get to him as he waited for the okay. @kukinumbuh3

“Dude...” he starts, trailing off and looking at Ron with a wide grin. It was indeed corny and cheesy, but Fred loved that kind of shit. Especially coming from a friend. “You’re a gift to me too. But we should still eat these burritos - I’m testing to see if making them look festive with red and green food coloring is gross or not.”

Eyebrow shooting up at the look Fred shoots her, she can hardly believe that he’s the one giving her unimpressed looks now. Somehow the tables turned in their dynamic and she finds herself sorely missing the days when he seemed intimidated by her. “You might have something to talk about but I’m good.” Gogo shrugs nonchalantly and turns back to her phone, foolishly hoping that her excuse of not having a journal will be enough to get him off her back. “How the fuck do you have extras?” she mutters under her breath, frowning as she takes the black journal he holds out. After going back and forth last time she knows very well that there’s no getting out of it, but that doesn’t mean she can’t try one more last ditch attempted. “Why don’t you get emotional and I’ll go and take my chances outside in the blizzard?” Freezing out in the snow frankly sounds a lot more desirable than accessing the feelings she’s working really hard to bury.

A disappointed sigh escapes him as Fred drops down onto the couch beside him, clicking on his pen a few times. “Gogo,” he starts, for once actually thinking his words through before he just blurts them out. This wasn’t an easy conversation for her to have and he knew that, especially with things between her and Danny being more complicated than ever. But that just made it even more important to get her to open up about at least something. “It’s not healthy to just ignore everything, you know. You can talk to me about it if that’s easier than writing it down.” It’s not an offer Fred expects her to take him up on, but how could he in good faith not at least suggest it? They were best friends, that was part of his job even if she didn’t like it. He may not be able to help with all the science stuff she and the rest of the group have going on in their life, but emotions? Now that was where Fred could come in handy.

“I see, well I think it’s cool that you have your own business with your pal.” The head was still freaking out with all the information that was still being said, but Caroline knew well how to put on a poker face and pretend that everything was under control. It was well known that this guy was a far cry from what could be described as an ordinary guy, but that wasn’t bad. At this point it was no longer possible to decide what was normal and what was not and Coraline had accepted that she had to live with it. It didn’t matter how weird it was. “You must admit that it is something unusual hear a history like that one, but I still think it is amazing. Question, Fred, do you serve only burritos or more? Is everything good?” It might have been a random question, but now curiosity and a little hunger had forced her to ask. Would be now the right time to ask him where that truck is? It could be worth a shot try that food.

“It is cool. We’re like... real adults now. Business owning adults,” he agrees, despite the fact that neither he nor Danny actually really did much with the business. They were the official and technical owners of the food truck, yes, but when it came down to making ninety-nine percent of the decisions for that drunk they had no involvement. “We sell lots of stuff. Tacos, nachos, those like bowls things that moms really like, and quesadillas.” There might be even more, but that was all Fred ever really paid attention to. 

danny is hardly surprised when he finds fred on the ground with a strange new object in his hands. he’s even less surprised by the way fred shows the sword off triumphantly. “all hail the new king, i guess.” normally, danny would care more. hell, normally he would hve a million questions for fred, probably insist that he not mess with things he finds in a cemetery of all places. but the exhaustion wins in the end, tired eyes hardly taking an interest in the ornate weapon. he holds his hand out to fred, ready to help his friend get upright again when danny notices the one thing that is worth shaking away the tired haze over his mind. “wait wait,” danny pauses, staring at the Jack o lantern in the middle of the cemetery. “this thing came out of a fucking pumpkin?” and just as he says it, the ground under them begins to shake violently, as if they’d just disturbed something powerful. “fred, put the sword back.” is all danny warns, already too tired for whatever new bullshit this house plans on throwing at him. but the warning comes far too late because the second the words leave his mouth, a flash of light shoots out of the top of the pumpkin before a wave of ectoplasmic energy bursts off it like an explosion. the sheer force of it sending them both, and mini max, flying backwards.

“yeah, right there,” he answers, not yet picking up on the importance of that fact or the danger in the situation. pointing over to the pumpkin, fred struggles to his feet for a moment and is just about to fight danny that he should be allowed to keep the sword. though the rumbling makes him doubt whether that’s a good idea - fred still feels whatever’s about to be coming he’d rather face with a cool new sword in his hand than without a weapon of any kind. the one danny had given him left behind at their original shooting spot. the words don’t get a chance to leave his mouth though before he’s being sent flying back to the ground a few feet away from where he’d just been standing. “what the fuck?!” he shouts, eyes closing both out of pain from the fall and also a bit of genuine fear at what he might see if he opened them again. “shit, shit, shit. this is bad, isn’t it?”

“that doesn’t sound like it’d look good.” danny shakes his head, already put off by the idea of that much food coloring – especially green food coloring. “i mean…the plates can still be red and green now, just with…good food on them?” he’s almost certain he’s seen people walk by with cute christmas themed plates, though he’s not sure which booth was handing those out, so it’s not too wild of a demand to make. “great.” danny nods, making a mental note to remind fred to have heathcliff reach out later on in the week when fred inevitably forgets. “don’t sound so bothered by the idea, lasagna is always good.” he nudges fred with his elbow repeatedly, hoping to bring a smile to his friend’s face as he orders their food. 

“sure it would. it’d be festive,” he argues, not thinking about the actual logistics of how gross green food actually looks. especially actual meal-type foods. maybe they could get away with making some cookies green, but even then that’s a bit of a stretch. “burrito bros sells good food. better than this stuff.” that much fred was certain. even if the lasagna rolls were good, he doubts they’d be anything like what their truck offers. “but how do you make it rolled?” he asked as they moved forward to the front of the line. when danny ordered, fred didn’t hesitate to pull out his card from the holder on his phone and offer it over to the employee working the booth.

There are far worse places to be stuck than Fred’s mansion — this place still somewhat of a shock to her considering Fred gives off the vibe of someone that lives under a bridge — but her relief at being stuck with Fred quickly dissipates as soon as he speaks. Declining to answer for a moment, she sprawls out at the end of the couch, hoping that if she’s quiet enough he might simply give up and change the subject. “What could we possibly have to talk about?” Gogo stares at him blankly after a long pause, playing dumb. She might have a few ideas, but Fred is going to have to pry them out of her, as she has absolutely no interest in opening up on her own. “I don’t even have my journal with me,” she reminds him, as though it’s something she’s used a single time since the last time Fred forced her to confront her feelings. Pulling out her phone, she shoots off a quick sos text to Pierson before turning her attention back to Fred. “Pick anything else.”

Shooting her an unimpressed and slightly judgey look, Fred doesn’t even pretend to fall for her innocent act. “You know exactly what we have to talk about,” he answers as he turns around on his heel and moves over to his desk in the center of the giant hangout room. Opening a drawer, he pulls out first his own journal, the same one from when he’d last done this with Gogo, as well as a still shrink wrapped black one - identical to the one he’d already given her before. “I figured you’d probably need a few back-ups, so we don’t have to worry about that!” Heading back towards his friend, he holds out the extra journal and raises an eyebrow as he waits for her to take it. “Nope. We’re getting emotional tonight.”

danny is no stranger to fred’s poorly strung together ideas, so he shouldn’t be even the slightest bit surprised at all by what his friend has to say. and still, he finds himself looking over at fred with confusion in his eyes. “what?” in theory, he gets fred’s point, christmas is often associated with the colors red and green. but in the topic of christmad themed food that hardly seems like something that should be brought up. “so, you wanna make a red and green food menu?” he asks, disgust already settling in at the thought of it. “i don’t know.” danny shrugs. it sounds like something lawyers should be able to do, but how the fuck would he know for certain. “we can ask, i’m sure your lawyers won’t mind.” or they would mind but refuse to say anything or let their annoyance show because he’s a fredrickson. “come on, you haven’t even had anything yet. how would you know it’s crap!” 

“what do you mean what?” he asks back in return, turning away from the menu to look at danny instead. but before fred can continue to to explain what he means, the other boy says it himself. “yeah - exactly! dye the food green or use lots of tomatoes to get the red. or just make the plates red and green.” really though... none of that negated the fact that christmas food was also indeed usually on the fancier side - decorated plates could be used for any type of food. “you’re right - i’ll have healthcliff call them tomorrow.” or at least, he’ll try to remember to ask the butler to get in contact with the family lawyers. in reality fred would likely forget and then last minute just decide to drive up the taco truck to whatever the next island wide event may be. with a heavy sigh, fred didn’t put up a fight with danny - despite knowing for a fact all the food would be crap. “fine. i guess we can try the lasagna rolls.”
