72. art time with baby finger paints and he makes his dada a masterpice. they have an entire wall coated with harry’s masterpieces.
73. watching the birds in the tree out back—his mum has made an elaborate story about the baby birds in the nest—they watched the eggs and then there were babies, like him, and he watched them grow all summer. his dad and mum talk about what adventures the baby birds are going to go on in the back garden each day. he learns the different birds and their calls and their names.
74. picking flowers with his dad in the back garden and taking one into mummy, all by himself, and it’s crushed and wilted in his chubby little hands from the kitchen to the living room but she treasures it and puts it in a vase all the same

76. blowing out candles on his mum’s birthday cake, and his dad’s, when really it was spittle and slobber all over the place, even though they didn’t seem to mind

86. his dad can draw anything and harry tells him what to draw, so his dad makes it, and they end up with fifty pictures of padfoot.
87. taking pictures with the enchanted camera and watching the baby in the pictures with mum and da
