Unalaq was also her UNCLE and a leader of the Water Tribe. he also taught her spirit bending, and was seemingly able to solve problems with spirits, something Tenzin was jealous of since he was never able to have the connection to spirits he wanted. Korra also doesn’t have the benefit of hearing the spooky music that pops up every time Unalaq is on screen like we do. maybe being locked up your whole life and kept away from people makes you naive and unable to see manipulation tactics idk.
