I genuinely think interactive fiction is an underappreciated art form.
Just to clarify. All this is interactive fiction:
IF is any storytelling wherein the storyteller has to change the narrative based on the choices of the person engaging with the story. I write both interactive and linear fiction, and while some stories are better linear, some are better interactive, and it's hard to make a story that is satisfying not just in one way, but in many.
non exhaustive list of fandom/media misogyny
only ever liking male relationships and calling a relationship with a women in it 'het slop'
'she's just not that interesting compared to [insert male character]'
only talking about female characters in a shipping context
treating a female character as an accessory or self-insert next to the male character
calling a female character toxic or bitchy for the same things that a male character gets coddled for
'if you want more fic/art/content about female characters/wlw ships make it yourself'
yuri but it's only genderbent yaoi
saying a female character 'deserves better' and then sidelining her completely
claiming that favouring yaoi is 'escaping misogyny'

Anyway my stance on fiction and online harassment is shaped by the fact that I had unrestricted access to the local library from about the age of 8 and read quite a few books with fucked up content that I might have been a bit too young for and that caused absolutely no long-term damage to my mental health; meanwhile I was bullied mercilessly by my peers for several years and Iām still dealing with after-effects of that.
