I have an idea. Nothing? Shirts are just so…constricting. 

Nothing? But— Oh. I don’t think I could do that. Maybe you’ve got the wrong size? It can be weird sometimes because you think you should have stopped growing but then you go up a size anyway.

Why do shirts have to be necessary? It’s just not fair.

Er... Just a t-shirt would probably do the job? I don’t know, how posh is whatever you’re going to?

“Yeah, sure, sign me up.”

“Great! So... Well, we’ve only just started, really. Or in January technically, but it’s only just getting off the ground and I’m a little all over the place until after the wedding, but— did you know I’m getting married? I’m getting married. Anyway, it means I’m pretty busy and not much has happened yet, but we’ve been doing some of these leaflets and handing them out. Just explaining who we are and why things are such an issue for muggleborns at the moment, and other than that it’s mostly about funding because apparently everything costs money.”

“Really? You won’t regret this, Marlene, I promise you.”

Finn held onto her and shook his head, ever so slightly, but he knew she would feel it. “You’re too good to me,” he told her quietly. Bubbling up inside him were too many emotions - too many to handle, but he didn’t want to cry any more. On one hand, he couldn’t believe her statement, no matter how against the grain it was for him to disbelieve anything that came out of his fiancée’s mouth. On the other, he was grateful she said it anyway. He pressed his lips to the top of her head, all the while trying to contain his emotion.

That’s a valid concern. Most music places are like that, I’m sure I’d get annoyed with it all really quickly.

Like I don’t think I’d want to work in some pet shops, because not all of them treat their animals as well as the Menagerie does. Some of them are more concerned about making money than the actual animals. I think if you care about something, you’re actually more picky about what you do in it.

It’s not- You don’t have to be sorry. There’s nothing to be sorry about. It’s just a very difficult situation and none of us can know what exactly is the right thing to do.

I guess if you like animals more than music it might be a better fit. We have different interests.

Definitely. I don’t know it was your type of music shop, either, though. It was mostly pop. I don’t remember there being much classical in there.

Mmm, you wouldn’t want to do that then.

That was only a summer job, anyway. After fifth year, in fact, so really ages ago. I don’t think even when I got it I was going to be planning on ending up back there after school. It did make me think that I wouldn’t want to do shop work at all but then someone said that maybe I’d enjoy it if it was more what I like and yes the Menagerie definitely is that.

Did you get to read or anything? I played piano to pass the time, I would’ve quit sooner if I had nothing to do.

I don’t really read. I’d find that even more boring. I tried to talk to the other people who worked there and things, but I don’t know. It’s a lot better at the Menagerie. There’s stuff to do even when there’s no customers.

That sounds great. I’d love to work in a music shop. I liked working there, it wasn’t very busy so I didn’t have to do a lot of work.

That’s interesting. I think I didn’t like it for the same reason. I got too bored there.
