Just and Loyal, a Hufflepuff Through and Through

Yes I did in fact ‘just.’  *nods.  Then looks back to her, giving her a disbelieving once-over.*  I hardly believe that no one’s ever been interested in you.  You’re attractive and you’ve got that Beauxbatons grace and etiquette.  But above that, you’re a great conversationalist, you’re down to earth, you’re honest.  These are winning traits, Scotty.  No, I don’t believe that no one’s ever been interested in you.  Maybe you haven’t noticed, but those are qualities that I know for a fact are attractive to people other than me.  Though me included of course.  And besides! Under that etiquette and those spotless manners is a candy-lover and someone I can relate with and talk to as a friend and…*laughs a bit and shrugs.*  Things just feel natural with you, I don’t know.

Grace?  Merlin, Finny,  I would trip over my own feet if I didn’t pay close attention to every step I take!  *Laughs, eyes crinkling up a the corners, head shaking just a little to shake her hair from her face.*  I’m far from graceful.  And no, no one was interested in me.  I was awkward, and strange, and for some reason they picked on my accent.  Apparently French sounds dog-rotten with a Scot accent.  Part of why I hide it…

But that's what I mean.  You make the effort.  You put thought and care into what you do and how you do it.  Well, unless that's impossible.  Like when you go all red-faced.  *teasing smile.*  And pfft, those people sound stuffy and pretentious.  *waves his hand.*  I wouldn't care if they liked me or not.  Your accent makes you pretty unique around here.  We've got very few Scottish people at this school, considering that we're in Scotland.  I like it.  It can be very threatening when you yell, too.  If someone bothers you, you can just say something loudly - it doesn't even have to be something threatening - and I'm sure they'll back off.  And it's just likable in general.  Better than my accent at least.  

*Was half convinced that she was making a fool of herself, practically asking him to kiss her again, but once he leans in, her nerves subside slightly and her lips press back against his.  She leans in a bit more than he does, perhaps seeming a little too eager, but then again, face-attacking and kiss-stealing aside, this is her first, honest-to-goodness kiss and she’s a bit nervous.  Once he pulls back a little, she remains in place, eyes closed for a moment longer than she intended.*  I didn’t mind, I thought it was cute.

Perhaps it’s the fact that I’m a boy and, therefore, have a natural predisposition to ungracefulness.  *noticing that she’s shifting feet and seems to be a bit lacking in balance - and pushing back his immature ‘teehee, I did that’ feeling of pride - he plops back down on the sofa, waiting for her to follow suit.*  I’m sure I could learn if I tried.  Maybe over the summer.  That’ll be interesting to write about.  ’My experiences in walking in high-heels as a young member of the Hufflepuff council of tribe leaders.’  

*Can’t help but to feel herself get totally engrossed in his ramblings, mostly because they’re incredibly adorable, and she knows she’s done the same to him at least once since they started talking.*  Wouldn’t that be hilarious?  ”Day Twenty-five.  Graduated to spiked heels.  My, they make my calves looks fantastic.”  *Chuckles a little bit, taking the seat offered beside him, one leg casually tucked under the other, which is a bit of a pain given the cut of her skirt.*

*sticks out his foot and lifts his pants hem above his ankle.*  They would be very flattering on me, wouldn’t they?

*had been planning to playfully psyche her out.  But mid-planning, he realizes this would be cruel.  And he sees that she seems to really want him to kiss her again.  He’s rendered a bit light-headed with joy, and despite his previous hasty demeanor, he gently grabs her chin between his thumb and index finger and, slowly, dips his head down to initiate the kiss.  This one will be done proper, he decides, and his lips push against hers with the slightest bit of pressure.  Needless to say, this kiss lasts longer than their first or second.  He’s tempted to deepen the kiss, but he reminds himself that this is only their first meeting.  And, not wanting to overwhelm her - or himself, really; he’d only had one serious kiss before in the past - he pulls back.  His tone is still an intimate whisper when he speaks.*
