and yet, he questions why they’re friends every single time he’s in town. ‘don’t act all high and mighty just because your shoes add 2 inches,’ fin only swings the camera away from beck and toward the building behind him so that the other man didn’t get any ideas about breaking the thing ( fin wouldn’t put it past him ). he hadn’t heard of this place before the other man brought it up. stack of research sat on fin’s dining table back home, a folder dedicated to the hospital set to private on his laptop’s front screen. he takes a moment to zoom in, stop on each broken window, getting filler footage for the content that would come out of this visit. ‘has anyone told you how thoughtful you are? no? shocker,’ fin moves further toward the building. its walls are high, but he thinks he sees a window he could climb in, if he got enough height. ‘help me up, i’m gonna climb through,’

lottie had been intrigued by finley’s work. while it wasn’t personally the type of media they liked to consume, it was precious to see the little kids talked about them. some of them had found their way around lottie’s legs, a little nervous in their costumes. lottie assured them it would be all right and sent them off to play until the event was ready. they seemed to toddle off, worries soon forgotten as they reached the first station with candy.

there’s a bright smile that spread across their features. lottie had compete faith that finley find them once he got here, the pink hair was not a subtle trademark in any respect. “ it’s nice to meet you. ” charlotte found themselves saying, setting down some of the decorations and shaking his hand. “ we’re so glad that you agreed to it ! the children love you. well, the ones that really understand what you do, ” a pause, with a loose shrug, “ the younger ones just think it’s cool you fight bad guys. ”

most of finley’s content was blocked from children younger than 14 ( there wasn’t really much he could do to keep tweens from watching his videos ). still, this is proof that you can’t keep kids from anything, and these wouldn’t be the first to think that fin was some sort of superhero who fought off the villains. he supposed that was partly the case, but never would he call himself a hero. ‘more than happy t’help,’ blush creeps slowly into pale cheeks at lottie’s gratitude, the man shaking their hand before sliding them firmly into the pockets of his jeans.

oh, so he’s certifiable, then. he feared that answer, that this guy had little to no clue what lingered in the dark, not really. ( 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 – 𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 ), of course he would have to. after all, he’s still alive – perhaps from LACK of a glimmer to turn the HAT towards him. he looks long at the other man, feeling that dead serious nature to him – even if he hadn’t really the sense he had the right idea. KILLING this … hungry, vacant, violent MONSTER was the best course of action. “ no, you’re probably right. you don’t have anything they want. ” part of this comes from below, in that deep part of him. and he UNDERSTANDS, that things like that, they only lasted with cooperation. they probably had money, if not connections. it unnerves him, the dread only grows.

“ do you got any ideas on how to do that ? ” his own mind turns, remembering that this guy had … fans, an audience. perhaps something could be done with that ? get their attention with SOMETHING THEY WANTED. he shifts the folder of horror back to it’s curator.

‘damn — i thought my dashing good looks would be enough to lure them in,’ disappointed click of his tongue is given as fin gladly takes the folder back from dan ( truth be told, the way he looked at it made finley think this conversation hadn’t been a great choice, but it’s too late now ). lanky fingers flip through the pages again, as if he was going to find a connection he missed the first ten times he’s looked at the flyers and the articles and the maps. ‘does that mean you know what they want?’ questioned up to dan, one brow raised in curiosity. it seems like the other man is holding out on finley, like he has quite a wealth of information that he hasn’t decided he wants to give out yet. ‘uh... gun?’ fin suggests with a shrug. ‘i also have a machete. any suggestions, though, are greatly appreciated,’

her touch feels like fire against his chest, igniting something inside that had not be aflame in years. part of him starts to panic, the part that wants this, that wants her hands to slide under his shirt again, to help him forget anything and everything outside of this one moment. it isn’t hard to tell that he’s vulnerable, suddenly, and finley feels pathetic as his eyes slide close. dark brows crease inward, adam’s apple bounces as he swallows down a mouthful of saliva. he wonders if she can feel his heartbeat against her palm.

it’s almost unfair, understanding that gaea knows more about him than he did her. because that had been her job — reaching into fin and extracting his deepest desires, making sure he was taken care of in the exact way he needed to be. when finley’s eyes open again, he’s staring down at gaea. when he moved further towards her, he doesn’t know, but he’s close enough now to see small specks of freckles faded across the bridge of her nose. ‘if i say yes, then what?’ he finally mutters, both afraid and irritated that he’s in this spot right now. ‘what happens after?’ eyes search across gaea’s features, but he doesn’t know what he’s looking for. ‘i walk out of here like nothing happened, right?’ he’s not sure if he can do that, this time.
