hi there! thank you for joining our server. i'm not sure if you are referring to our welcome screen or the actual pop up but i'll go over both!

I apologize if this ask is all over the place, I am mobile and on my browser since my laptop is broken. I will do my best to make sure I hit all points here.

First, as always we appreciate members who bring issues forward to us.

From their directory we do not see a Chris Pratt FC, and while we do agree he is problematic, we do not bar roleplays from promoting based on faceclaims unless they are extremely problematic. (i.e Ezra Miller, Jared Padelecki, as examples)

In the case of Mike Wheeler, none of the admins or mods are Jewish so we feel we cannot fully speak on this matter and will always allow Jewish voices to speak for us on this. However from our POV, Mike is played by a Jewish actor however in the show no one is his family is played by Jewish actors and the Wheeler family is never stated to be Jewish. We don’t see an issue here to bring forth to admins but if someone who is Jewish disagrees please let us know so we can amend our statement!

Fat Rambo is a nickname given to Hopper by Alexei due to the fact that Hopper is a fighter and happens to have a dad bod. I don’t think he would be considered plus sized and or fat, he has a pretty normal body for a man his age. It makes sense that that would be Hopper’s character label as it seems to be a nickname in the lore that follows him. While the current FC is not plus sized, it’s more so lore based. Again if someone who is fat has a different opinion please feel free to message us so we can amend our statement!

Lastly, if Ro is a problematic person, we will always need proof in order to do anything like a ban, private thread, or extended mute period. If you have said proof, we will happily chat off anonymous or you can send the proof anonymously on our Google tickets linked in the server.

hi anon, i understand your concerns entirely and i somewhat agree. we should have, when we posted the poll, stated that the outcome of it would only make up part of the end decision and that we'd also take into account the opinions of those who came forward to talk to us about it and the opinions of the staff team, too. or perhaps, we should have simply never posted a poll. hindsight is 20/20, and this could have been handled differently.

but to be clear, we are not hiding. we have recognized that the poll was a mistake, which is why we decided to go against the results in the end. we are all available and reading and responding to things both here and in the server. you have full access to all people who made these decisions and multiple ways to contact us. we are responding to everything. this is not what hiding looks like.

Phrases like this 'We attempted to bring democracy to the server and it was ruined' indicate the removal of HP groups is in direct response to the bad behaviour of players when you just stated in your previous response to me that wasn't actually the case. Regardless, the bad behaviour was exhibited by the players who wanted the final decision you made. You can make statements about the LGBTQ+ community, and standing with them (a community I am also a part of) because those kind of statements are impossible to argue against and undeniably make you look better. But that doesn't erase the details of what happened. This was a very badly handled situation.

'We're done with the nasty, hateful accusations being thrown at us, when all of us were on the page of banning it in the first place.' This also explicitly states the decision to ban HP was in response to the hate you received, which actually came from the people who agreed with you. It doesn't make sense, and it isn't fair. I understand the issue is nuanced, and I appreciate you approaching it with a democratic poll, but you warped the situation to best fit you. That isn't really democratic. Why give the players an illusion of a voice if you decide to go with your own decision at the end of the day? Just stick to making the decisions yourself in future. You're always going to get negative comments, it sucks but that's just the internet. Don't use those negative comments for your own gain, at the expense of the majority vote. That's only going to upset more people. I know the last situation like this was a learning curve, and the poll was an experiment in better dealing with these situations. Hopefully this situation can be a learning curve too. I'm going to stop messaging about this now because I'm sure there are a lot of people out there bombarding you with their strong opinions. But please keep in mind what I said in future, I know I'm not the only person who feels this way.

while yes, the majority of the poll voted not to ban h.arry p.otter roleplays from our server, over 120 members of our server indicated they were uncomfortable with it, as well as 36 members that would've only accepted multifandom roleplays. this means that over 150 people have stated they are uncomfortable with seeing h.arry p.otter universe roleplays. we've also received messages from members, affiliates, and those outside our community with concerns.

receiving hate was a part of our decision, but not the entirety of it. it is something we are used to, at this point. it has happened before, only this time, it came with 150 members proclaiming they are not comfortable seeing these groups in our server. while yes, there is a majority that states they wouldn't mind - we do not think that should overshadow the fact that such a huge number does!

h.arry p.otter is banned because of the problematic actions of the creator, who has funded anti trans organisations with her profits and actively campaigned against people's human rights. she is well known to be problematic and her source material also reflects this.

hi anon, i'm the admin who ran a harry potter roleplay. i put it in past tense because it's since been closed. i just wanted to address a few things, since there have been multiple posts about me now.

i don't support JKR. i'm queer, non binary, and fat, and my family comes from a jewish-romani background. i'm not just saying these things because that 'excuses' me, i'm stating them because as we all know, these are things JKR has expressed bigotry or hatred against.

my decision to have run a h.arry p.otter roleplay does not come out of support for JKR, but quite the opposite. i wanted to run one to create a space for those of us that identify as queer, trans, non-white, and any identity she has hurt, to safely and comfortable be able to reclaim something they have once loved, in a way that is right for them. and many people from marginalized communities did.

however, in the capacity of findrps, that does not factor into my decisions. i'm one of the founding admins of this server, and something that has been very important to me since the start is doing this without bias, in as much as that is possible. a large part of the rp community has said that they feel uncomfortable with seeing h.arry p.otter roleplays in their spaces, whether that is findrps or the general tags. and i completely, entirely understand that. it is my job to foster a community that feels safe and comfortable in our server, not a community that caters to me, personally. in our admin only channels, i voted for banning them.

we decided to do a poll because there is so much backlash whenever we make a server decision like this, not because i influenced people to do so? in general, i think it's wild that people assume i'm pulling the other admins' strings behind the scenes and making this a power play thing of some sort, as we've all had plenty of disagreements before, but i digress.

we felt a lot of pressure from a lot of angles and honestly wanted to put the discussion to rest as quickly as possible.

some members of the admin team have made their opinions clear on their own personal blogs. we do see both sides of it and i'll remove the defending TERF comment from my previous post.

ultimately, right now we are doing what you said to do. "If the mod team has a stronger opinion on the validity of HP RPs (and those in them) than previously expressed, it's better to come right out with it." - we tried the voting thing but when taking into account the opinions of those who came to us off anonymous, those in the admin/mod/affiliate teams, and those who were posting about us, we came to the conclusion that the majority rule wasn't appropriate in this situation.
