Parents say the strangest things. My dad, for example has a number in his repertoire including:
"Tastes like fried chicken!" - a compliment; to be applied to ANYTHING
"Mura man Cebu Plaza!" ("Like Cebu Plaza!" - a compliment; for places, venues, projects (?). He used it to describe a set of shelves he'd just painted white so yeah. Work with that.
"Mana! Tuyo na!" ("Done! It's already dry!") - picked up from this commercial that plays in perpetua and lurks around every corner of local TV. An eye herbal medicine thing. Eye beam? Whatevs. Used anytime.
"Sa tamang timpla!" ("With the right mixture/dosage(?)!" - another TV-commercial-originating line. With matching dance moves of raising both arms up in the air, repeatedly and a grinning, almost manic expression. Again random use.

Ingredients:
oil
salt
pepper
pasta
water
basil
mushroom
capers
olives
(canned tuna)
1. Make pasta.
2. Saute garlic, onion (minced), mushroom, capers, olives and the optional tuna.
3. Drop in pasta. Stir well.
4. Eat.
I Made A Thing I Ate: Graham, Avocado and Oatmeal Ref Cake
Graham, Avocado and Oatmeal Ref Cake
1. Start with the oatmeal. Add milk. Not too watery. Don’t want to make it ice.
2. Layer graham crackers.
3. Layer oatmeal.
4. Layer avocado.
5. Layer crushed graham.
6. Serve with loads of maple syrup.

Vegetable, Pork and Bean, Macaroni Soup
Ingredients:
oil
water
onion
garlic
beef cube
canned pork and beans
macaroni
basil leaves
egg (optional)
1. Saute chopped onions and garlic.
2. Add tomato ketchup.
3. Add water and beef bouillon cube.
4. Add cabbage and carrots. Salt and pepper. Add cheese cubes.
5. Add macaroni.
6. Bring to a boil as per pasta cooking instructions.
7. Let simmer. Add fresh basil leaves.
Optional: add egg after taking off heat. Break with fork.
Egg in a Basket/Toad in the Hole
Ingredients:
thick sliced bread
egg
salt
cayenne pepper/black pepper
cheese
butter
basil
1. Cut out hole or slice a square out of the center of your sliced bread. Eat this piece.
2. Add butter to pan. Add bread.
3. Break egg over the hole. Make sure yolk...

Garlic Pasta
Ingredients:
garlic
pasta
water
chicken bouillon cube
salt
pepper
oil.
1. Boil water. Add pasta, salt and oil. Cook. Remove. Cool with water.
2. In pan, saute garlic in olive oil (snob!). Add a little water and the chicken cube.
3. Drop in pasta and stir. Take off heat. Let sit for a few seconds.
Optional:
This is the basic recipe. Go wild. I also do other things.
