How are some of you out here shipping 2doc, a dynamic literally built on a decade of canon physical and mental abuse, and then turning around to scream at anyone who likes 2nu???

If your argument for 2doc is "Murdoc changed!! 🥺" then surely you can grasp the concept of Noodle also... changing? You know, by becoming a thirty-year-old woman.

I’m talking Phase 3 through Phase 8. Two adults who actually trust and care about each other vs. the guy who literally : ran 2-d over TWICE, mentally and physically abused him, taunted him, LOCKED HIM IN AN UNDERWATER BASEMENT WITHOUT HIS PAIN MEDICATION THAT HE NEEDS BECAUSE OF MURDOC, GOT WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND, TRIED TO GET WITH HIS OTHER GIRLFRIEND.. the list goes on.

I'm not trying to say that 2doc shippers are villains or anything but it genuinely makes no sense to me. Especially how people are attacking 2nu shippers over literally nothing.

Especially because, 2nu was not okay pre-pb, 2doc was CERTAINLY not okay from p1-p5 atLEAST. i know people argue that Murdoc went to jail and got better, and I know he isn't plainly abusive anymore but he's still very capable of being nasty.

Also, it's not the same as comparing it to 3doc because 2d and murdoc made peace you can't change the fact noodle was a child when she found them. YES 2doc is toxic, NO I don't like it, but that's dosent make 2nu justified???

But the hypocrisy in the fandom is what’s bothering me. How can people say 2nu is 'nasty' because 2-D helped raise Noodle, but then say 2doc is fine because 'Murdoc changed'? It's comparing two people knowing each other for ages to a dynamic where one person literally ran the other over twice and abused him for YEARS. I'm not trying to justify 2nu, i'm trying to say BOTH OF THEM ARE FUCKING NASTY AND I DON'T KNOW HOW 2DOC SHIPPERS THINK 2NU IS BAD WHEN THEY ARE BOTH HORRIFIC SHIPS

Both ships are messy for different reasons and honestly, they both just feel wrong to me. I’m not defending either one, I just don’t get how people can act like their ship has the moral high ground when it's built on a decade of canon abuse.

You can't compare them because one deals with abuse that has been resolved and the abuser has changed over 25 years. But you can't change the fact noodle was raised by them and views them as parental/family figuers that's why I'm saying you can't compare it, it's not fair??

im speaking of 2d and murdoc here, how would 2 white men who:

never travelled outside england,

dont know a lick of japanese

are notorious for neglecting/abusing their children

confirmed to be mentally 10 (in 2d's case)

were murdoc (yknow, someone who bragged about assaulting women/dogs and regularly stripped nude infront of noodle, was the reason noodle wanted to leave in the first place .etc)

raise a unilingual child who spent like 3 year tops (in intervals) with them, didNOT call them her dads in fact (you can literally check their official interviews, she even denied this in phase 5) and who they presumed would never return post phase 1 and/ assumed she died (thats 2 years into phase 2)

was never planned to be their daughter

nor the fact the orphan Noodle ever thought of gorillaz as her actual home despite spending roughly 2 years with them at that point:

whats more (unlike how many white g fans like to ignore) she was actually well learned in her country's culture, philosophy and religious values (like keeping shrines in her room / spouting buddhas teachings) . how exactly did those VERY responsible white men instill these values? her childhood ended 17 years ago, of which she spent less than 5 years and that too in intervals lasting years (so you cant even apply the Westermarck effect here lol)

tbf a majority of 2nu speculations i see are well into phase 4-5 (aka 25-28 years old noodle) mostly because 2d and noodle couldn't even get the chance to properly hang out because pirate attack lol

Growing up isn't the same as a bad relationship, please both ships are nasty but ONE (2DOC) has changed, so it isn't, 2nu can't change
