Fibromayalgia and Me

I use my illness as an excuse to get out of a lot of things. I’m not a horrible person, I just feel like I’ve given up so much for the fibromyalgia that I should at least get something out of it.

Sometimes, the pain gets so bad that I wonder if I’m dying. But then I remember, I’m not—it’s worse, it’s just the fibromyalgia.

Laying in bed in the morning and knowing you’ll be in pain the instant you move.

Whenever I tell the people close to me that I am not feeling well, I always make it seem like it’s no big deal, while I’d much rather curl up in fetal position somewhere. There is no point in telling them. They can’t help me and I don’t want them to know how close I am to giving up. I don’t want them to feel as helpless as I feel.
