Mikoto: Where has everyone gone to? Itās not like Azura to run off like thatā¦ I hope Corrin or Camilla is with herā¦
Corrin: So it is true! (Y/n) told me you had been summoned this morningā¦ I had to see you with my own eyes. I can still hardly believe it!
Mikoto: Corrinā¦ My son. I am so happy to see you. Come closer, pleaseā¦ Let me look at you. Hehe, you seem well. Is this fine young man really the little baby I used to carry in my arms?
Corrin: Haha, wellā¦ I did grow up a bit since then.
Mikoto: You look taller than all your siblingsā¦ Except Ryoma. Youāre still growing, are you not? Maybe you will end up outgrowing him as well.
Corrin: Heh, I really donāt think soā¦ Itās so good to see you again, Mother. I never thought I would be given another chance to talk to you like thisā¦ I expected this new year to have surprises for me, but I wasnāt expecting this!
Mikoto: It is a surprise for me as well. A wonderful one.
Mikoto: My apologies, my dearā¦ Would you mind if we resume this conversation later? Truth be told, I do not know where Azura ā the little one ā is and I am a bit worried.
Corrin: I see. Would you like me to help you look for her?
Mikoto: Heheā¦ A fine and kind young man.
Corrin: *blushing* Motherā¦
Mikoto: *giggling* My apologies, I could not help myself. Shall we look for Azura together then?
Corrin: Yes, Mother. Lead the way.
[Mikoto walks away with a warm, happy smile.]
Corrin: ā¦How odd. I thought she would comment on my kimonoā¦ Did she not recognize it?

Mikoto: Ah, Corrin. Iām so happy to see you again.
Mikoto: Do we? You seem quite displeasedā¦ What troubles you?
Corrin: What troubles me is I have spoken to the Summoner. Youāre not the real Queen Mikoto, are you? Youāre not my mother.
[Mikotoās expression freezes. After a fleeting moment, she regains her composure, her mouth downturned in a slight frown.]
Mikoto: ā¦I see. What gave me away?
Corrin: You did not comment on my kimono, nor have you reacted to it at all. I found that peculiarā¦ since my siblings told me Mother had made it for me.
Mikoto: ā¦Of course, I could not know thatā¦
Corrin: No, you couldnāt. Because you are but a tangible dream created by Loki in her attempt to deceive this young Azura we rescued. It was too good to be trueā¦ I should have known.
Corrin: I do not blame youā¦ much. But I am admittedly upset that you did not tell me right away you were not who I thought you were. A little bit of honesty would have spared us both this predicament.
Mikoto: It is true I am not your real motherā¦ But I was made to bear the same love for you as her.
Mikoto: Please hear me out. From the day you were born till her last breath, Queen Mikoto loved you with all her heart. Ryoma, Hinoka, Takumi, Sakura, Azura, youā¦ She loved you all so, so much. I may be a fake, and my feelings may have been fabricated, but I donāt love you any less than she did.
Corrin: Thatā¦ is enough. I can not allow myself to be fooled by a mere dream, even if that dream has my motherās face and voice. Please, leave me be.
Mikoto: Corrin, please, I beg of your kindness. Listen to what I have to say. If not for me, then for the real Queen Mikoto. I promise you will never have to see me again once I am doneā¦
Corrin: ā¦How unfair of you to look at me with my motherās sad eyes. What chance do I stand?ā¦ Very well. Speak up.
Mikoto: Queen Mikotoā¦ felt so alone without youā¦ she might as well have been standing at the bottom of the sea. And she resented herself immensely for feeling such loneliness, knowing she still had your siblings at her sideā¦ But you always had a special place in her heart. Do not ever think that you never occured to her, for you were the one thing constantly on her mind. With you gone, going on as normal ā getting up, getting dressed, working, holding a conversation ā felt like the most impossible task in the world. Sometimes, she had imaginary conversations with you while cleaning up your bedroomā¦ And she still felt a jolt when hearing your name, even though she knew it was someone else called the same. She never let go, ever. She loved you dearly, from the day she first saw you to the moment she ceased to be.
Mikoto: That is all I wished to say. As promised, I will leave you be now. Thank you. I am so glad I could spend some time with you.
Mikoto: Itās alright, Corrin. Do not feel bad. I truly am gladā¦ Goodbye. Please take care.

Corrin: Motherā¦ May I have a word with you?
Corrin: M-my apologies, have I startled you? I thought you had seen me approaching.
Mikoto: I did, butā¦ I thought you wished to never speak to me again.
Corrin: I did say that, didnāt I? Yet after due thinking, Iāve decided we should talk more. If you agree, that is.
Mikoto: Corrinā¦ You are far too kind. I have deluded you into thinking that I was the real Mikoto, even though I knew you were bound to learn the truth and suffer from my lie sooner or later, and yet you still wish to indulge me?
Corrin: Itās not about that. In fact, this has nothing to do with kindness.
Corrin: As much as Iād like to be mature and level-headed enough to keep my distances, you are still the closest thing to my mother Iāll ever get. Although an illusion, you are my only chance toā¦ get some sort of closure. Hehā¦ Selfish, isnāt it?
Corrin: When she died, something inside all my siblings justā¦ broke. Thatās the only way I could describe it. And now she is gone and sheās never coming backā¦ because of me. How I wish I could undo itā¦ Stand in the middle of the plaza again and be smarter, more careful, find a way to dispose of Ganglari, turn into a dragon sooner and protect herā¦
Mikoto: Corrinā¦ At some point, you have to stop with these āwhat ifās. You know it, donāt you? If 'what ifā scenari could change something, anything, it would be wonderful. But it is not possibleā¦ It is not.
Corrin: I-I knowā¦ I know. I guess now I have to accept it once and for all.
[Mikoto emits a gentle laugh, testing the waters.]
Mikoto: That could be your New Yearās resolution.
[Corrin chuckles in return.]
Corrin: I shall add it on my listā¦ But before that, there is something else I wished to ask.
Corrin: The things you said last timeā¦ about my mother feeling lonely and depressed without me. How do you know?
Mikoto: I do not. But I know my love for you and your siblings was made to match hers. Even if I am but an illusionā¦ if something were to happen to any of you, Iā¦
Corrin: ā¦I believe you. Itās justā¦ If it werenāt for me, Mother would still be alive and well. After what happened to her, itās hard to imagine she would still love me. Heh, sometimes I imagine encountering her angry, resentful ghost.
[Mikoto goes quiet for a moment, poundering what Corrin just said, carefully thinking about what she should reply. She then proceeds to speak slowly.]
Mikoto: If someone dies shielding you with their body, because of a mistake you made, and they still use their last seconds to worry about your safety and smileā¦ believe me, they really donāt resent you.
Corrin: I wonderā¦ Mother, Elise, Azuraā¦ People seem to always force a smile for my sake when they die.
Mikoto: And donāt you think it is proof that they truly love you?
Corrin: ā¦I think it is. I canāt imagine what else it could meanā¦ Heh. Thank you, Dream Mother.
Mikoto: D-Dream Motherā¦?
Corrin: As I said, you may not be my real mother, but you are the closest thing I could ever hope to get. Ah, Iām sorry, it sounds so selfishā¦ What I meant to say is, I wouldā¦ enjoy spending time with you occasionally. Youāre not responsible for the form Loki gave you and you are a good person, so Iād be delighted to chat with you whenever you have time to spare. If thatās okay with you, that is.
Mikoto: Oh, Corrinā¦ Yes. I would love that very much. Would right nowā¦ be alright?
Corrin: Right now is good. Shall we go for a walk then?
Mikoto: Yes. Iām so gladā¦
