It is time for a name change! F*EMS is now Gems As passionate zine makers & creatives, we know that words (& names) have power. We’ve felt for a while now that our initial namesake (Females* for Equality Making Stuff) does not fit our mission. We want to provide a space that is truly inclusive & understand that the word female is not an accurate representation for all the creatives who are part of our community. Gems is not an acronym & instead represents the precious & unique words & visual art our amazing contributors share with us. Our work will continue to encourage the creativity & talent of women & non-binary people. We strive to create a platform to raise their voices & have them heard & their work seen.
