sweet nothings

naruto had been dumped by hinata and desperately wants her back. at least he thinks he does. he misses the warmth of being loved, being desired. he misses having someone’s hand on his arm, a grounding agent in a world that moves past him faster than he can register at times. he had found that with hinata — the comfort, the easy companionship. sure he couldn’t give her everything she wanted, and sometimes in the dead of night as she laid on his chest, he wished for something he didn’t have the words to explain. but that didn’t matter. he misses what he had, it was enough. and he sure as hell is exhausted with the pitying stares he’s getting from all his friends. he needs a plan to win her back, and convince kiba that his pity lunches aren’t wanted, god damn it!

enter sasuke.

sasuke is dreading the upcoming christmas holiday. its his third year: his final year of university, and his third year coming home alone. kakashi and obito might really sign him up for that involuntary celibacy support group if he doesn’t come up with something quickly. but sasuke hasn’t been able to stomach the touch of another in years— not since orochimaru. he needs practice, memories to replace the unnatural cold touch, the stink of his breath, stained red with wine. he needs someone who is the antithesis of everything orochimaru stood for. someone who exudes warmth, the earthly embodiment of the sun. and between the insistent tugging of his arm by karin, and the shots of god knows what drink slipped between his fingers by ino, he finds what he’s looking for.

it’s a no strings attached affair. naruto needs a new arm candy to get at hinata’s heart, and sasuke needs the sun, warmth and gravity, to chase away the black hole left in his soul. and when the two of them can barely stand to be in the same room for longer that five minutes, there’s no risk of anything else coming in the way of their plan. it’s perfect — foolproof. until it isn’t.
