âPorn-free relationships are stronger, with a lower rate of infidelity. Thatâs what Amanda Maddox and her colleagues found in a study of men and women, ages 18 to 34, who were in romantic relationships. The researchers measured the levels of negative communication, relationship adjustment, dedication or interpersonal commitment, sexual satisfaction, and infidelity. In their study, 76.8 percent of men and 34.6 percent of women looked at sexually explicit material alone; 44.8 percent reported viewing it with partners. They found that people who didnât view any porn had lower levels of negative communication, were more committed to the relationship, and had higher sexual satisfaction and relationship adjustment. Their rate of infidelity was at least half of those who had watched sexual material alone and with their partners. But people who only watched porn with their partners were more dedicated to the relationship and more sexually satisfied than those who watched alone.â

Commercial surrogacy is exploitative enough without the threat of mothers being sued if the pregnancy ends in miscarriage or stillbirth

The news outlet Wired posted an article on Wednesday, Sept. 3, titled âThe Baby Died. Whose Fault Is It?â, detailing the relationship between Cindy Bi, a venture capitalist based in California, and her surrogate, who she is suing. Why? Because Biâs surrogate gave birth to a stillborn baby, and Bi thinks she did it intentionally. Bi even told Emi Nietfeld, the journalist behind the article, âI hope she goes to jail.âÂ
There are several factors that can result in a stillborn baby, and things like genetic abnormalities and placental problems may result in a stillbirth. However, up to 50% of the time, the cause of a stillbirth is completely unknown, according to Mount Sinai. In the case of Biâs surrogate, who chose to use the pseudonym Rebecca Smith, the stillbirth resulted from the placenta separating from Smithâs uterine wall, depriving the baby of oxygen.Â
Nietfeld was as objective as any journalist can possibly be in a situation like this, interviewing both Bi and Smith, who was distraught at the death of the baby. Even so, there are facets of the story Bi told that just do not add up. If the stillbirth was a result of placental disruption, something that is completely dictated by the genetics of the fetus, why did Bi almost immediately place the blame for her babyâs death on Smith? Why did she request Smithâs private medical information? Why did she thereafter hire psychics who convinced her that Smith had somehow turned against her baby? Why is she even pursuing litigation against her?Â
That is the issue with surrogacy and the fertility industry as a whole. When people like Bi treat surrogacy as a business transaction and babies like commodities, they forget that there is an actual person growing the baby inside her body. The result is a power imbalance so extreme that it proves detrimental to the body and mind of the surrogate. Surrogacy and the fertility industry commodify womenâs bodies to the point of dehumanization and there is no point in pretending that the industry is ethical anymore.Â
Despite the problems with the fertility industry, many still believe in its practices. According to a study conducted by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, 61% of married same-sex couples under the age of 50 surveyed viewed âbiological pathways to parenthood, such as insemination, surrogacy, and in vitro fertilization, as ideal compared to non-biological options like adoption.â Kim Kardashian has used surrogacy to have her two most recent children because she experienced placenta accreta in her own pregnancies. If surrogacy is an ideal pathway for same-sex couples to start their own families and for women experiencing unhealthy pregnancies to have biological children, how could it possibly be unethical?Â
But there is a hidden side to surrogacy. The fertility industry is worth billions of dollars and women who work for surrogacy industries are often increasingly desperate for money, selling off their bodies for nine months, while those who hire them tend to be wealthy. What it culminates in is an unbalanced power dynamic, with those who hire surrogates able to hold anything and everything over the women they hire knowing they are desperate for money.Â
Surrogacy can result in infertility or even death for surrogates, and those who hire them do not care as long as they receive a perfect baby. In fact, at the same time as Bi hired Smith to carry her son, she hired another surrogate to carry a daughter. This pregnancy was extremely unhealthy and resulted in an emergency hysterectomy. When asked how her second experience with surrogacy turned out, however, Bi described it as âperfectâ. But it was only perfect because in the end, her daughter did not die. There is a complete disregard for the health and safety of the women who must go through the emotional and physical labor to bring the child into the world. In that sense, surrogates are essentially walking, talking incubators.Â
Additionally, the lines between commercial gestation and human trafficking are extremely blurred. Any other sale of children is regarded as human trafficking, but for whatever reason, paying a woman to carry a baby and then hand it over is not perceived as trafficking.Â
When did the lines blur and change? When did we start regarding women as potential carriers instead of actual human beings? The fertility industry in the United States either needs a serious overhaul or needs to be banned altogether. Countries like France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Bulgaria have all banned surrogacy, mostly to prevent exploitation and protect dignity. Because of the legal action that Bi is taking against Smith, Smith is forced to shoulder both the legal fees and her medical bills, all while dealing with the emotional turmoil that comes with going through a stillbirth. The United States needs to take action to ban surrogacy or at least give surrogates further protections to prevent a situation like Smithâs from occurring again.Â
The fact that society believes a man who says he's a woman over the woman who doesn't want to change next to him shows that society actually knows exactly who's the man and who's the woman
Just watched a video of a woman walking through the process of an at home Brazilian wax and I'm so depressed from the comments...
Some referred to waxing your woman parts as "basic female hygiene". Some women acknowledged how unfair it was men didn't do 'have to' do the same extensive and painful hair removal procedures yet somehow nobody put forth the idea that... women also don't have to do that???
There were 12 and 13 year old girls in the comments asking for further instruction on waxing. The one person I saw mentioning how this kind of content might not be appropriate for girls so young was basically barked at for stigmatizing ''basic hygiene'' .
Pregnant women and women who had just given birth and still recovering asking how to position themselves for wax removal in consideration of their bellies.
Edit: Men in the comments sexualizing the woman and the process of hair removal while simultaneously shaming her. I'M SO TIRED OF THIS.

THANK YOU. Seriously, I get we're all feminists here but being hateful about every single thing is exhausting and will help deteriorate your mental health. Take care of yourself first and foremost and stop with this shit.
If you were a real Christian youâd know that a womanâs place is in the kitchen with her mouth shut, you half braindead Babylonian whore. Nobody needs to hear what the inferior sex has to say, thereâs a reason your purpose is to get married, have children, and shut the fuck up and be subservient to your husband. You post like youâve failed at getting married but you arenât completely heinous to look at, so maybe if you learn to shut the fuck up you may just get a man.

PornHubâs parent site has just admitted to receiving proceeds from sex trafficking. If you donât see why PornHub (and the porn industry altogether) needs to be taken down, you need to take a long time to reflect.
Women are instilled from an early age with a deep shame regarding our female anatomy.
We're told our genitals smell like fish, that "roast beef curtains," are hilarious and a sign that a woman is a sl*t, that our natural pubic hair is offensive. That periods are disgusting and shameful, and should be kept secret. We aren't even properly taught about our own anatomy- a lot of women don't know until later in life that the vulva and vagina are separate, and that the urethra is not the same opening as the vaginal opening.
There's hardly any research into female-specific medical conditions. Nearly 10% (1 in 10) women are afflicted with endometriosis, yet there's literally no research on what causes it. PCOS is also under-researched. It's all shoved under the rug, too stigmatised to be discussed.
While boys can talk freely about their dick and balls, the words "vagina" or "vulva," are still treated like a humiliating joke at best, and a vulgar obscenity at worst.
Men talk with pride about their genitals. To "grow a set" = to start acting tough and assertive. To "have big balls" = to be brave. "Big dick energy" = to be a charismatic "alpha" that commands attention.
Meanwhile, there are no positive cultural connotations regarding the vulva/vagina. Even "serving cunt" is used as a tongue-in-cheek memetic joke.
I think it's very predatory that shame, disgust and aversion about having a vagina/vulva is marketed as a sign that a girl/woman is dysphoric. That it should just be censored and called a "front hole" or a "bonus hole," to avoid the stigma. It's a cultural by-product of the crushing misogyny imbedded into society.
MOST women grow up feeling shame about having a vulva/vagina, and have to put conscious effort into unlearning that shame.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but saying terfs need to be raped, abused, punched, killed, humiliated, assaulted, does not make you some progressive feminist queen It does not make you a good person it doesn't make you more "woke". In fact, you are just disgusting. You aren't even trying to make valid arguments. You are just using violent threats and expecting everyone to agree with you, and the most startling part of it is that a lot of people do. I am appalled with how normalized rape and death threats are in common day media, especially in the trans community and even more so in the Tims section of the community.
I donât consider myself a TERF. But lately Iâve been wondering why âTERFâ gets thrown around way more than âtransphobe.â
I constantly see things like âTERFs DNI,â âTERFs go kill yourselves,â âOP is a TERF,â and so on.
Itâs telling, because âtransphobeâ is gender neutral, but a âTERFâ is always a woman. It feels like a way to specifically target women and demean feminism as a whole, especially given how often itâs paired with misogynistic slurs like âbitchâ or âcunt.â
