i saw comrade in comments mention juche and thought i must write what i think about it, 'cause juche is literally just… having your own ideas?? and somehow that's also controversial?? like imagine being mad that a country wants to think for itself instead of just copying whatever the big imperialist powers tell it to do. self-reliance is actually the most basic concept ever, you just do stuff yourself because waiting for someone else to save you is embarrassing. the whole ideology is basically "believe in your own people and don't let foreigners run your life" and people act like that's a scary radical thing. it's just having a backbone, babe. that's it. every nation should do juche, you don't have to call it that, just… maybe don't let your entire economy be dictated by a country that bombs you. common sense!

To add onto this, I was in a conversation with around 8 trots (I'm in a trotskyist org because the ML orgs in Ireland are frankly dead to say the least) and this topic arose, they said that this is why we need an international revolution and whatnot, and how the Cuban government has failed. and I got the chance to ask them what would the solution be? Apart from creating economic reforms, what is the other option. Because you either stay in poverty under a cruel blockade or you make reforms, simple as. And they weren't able to give me an answer on what they should have done instead, after bullying Cuba for doing reforms, they couldn't give a solution.
