Born to loving parents, Felix and his younger brother were raised to take chances, try new things, and do what they could to find themselves and be who they truly were. The Kumara boys loved challenges, they were both outgoing, and they couldn’t ever stay still. From sports, to art, to traveling, they were always told to do whatever made them happy as long as it didn’t bring harm to themselves or others. It made for the two men to grow up and be people who loved life and managed to have fun wherever they may be.
It was the mentality of trying new things and taking chances that made Felix decide he wanted to travel after he finished school. At eighteen years old he began traveling to different parts of Australia and he would bring his younger brother with him during his school breaks. During his travels he’d met a few Americans he immediately hit it off with and they became friends. It was after befriending them that he decided he wanted to venture outside of Australia and visit his friends in California.
He was only going to stay for the summer but his plans changed entirely when he found himself falling for one of his friends, Cassandra. She was smart, beautiful, and fun. She and Felix had so much in common and they were seemingly perfect for one another. It was what made him want to stay even longer and it’s what began their long distance relationship.
Felix went back to Australia but kept in contact despite the time differences, but it was all worth it. Or he thought it was anyway. Felix visited as often as he could and even though they were starting to have a few hurdles in their relationship, he was hopeful it would all pass. However, they had so many differences now and they were always arguing even when he they weren’t in person. She always had a way of keeping him under her thumb though, always able to manipulate and gaslight her way into being the most important person to him, even isolating him from his friends and family during his long visits. It was easy for their friends to see it as them wanting alone time but that wasn’t entirely the case.
After one terrible argument that escalated more than usual and more than words from her, and it nearly cost their relationship. However, she had that way of always pulling him back in and he found himself back in her bed.
It all escalated further when Cassandra told him she was pregnant a few months later. They were only twenty-three and they didn’t even live in the same country. It was confusing and strange and Felix didn’t understand how it even happened because they were so careful. What he didn't know was she did everything she could to make sure it would happen, wanting to keep a connection with him somehow.
Felix wasn't sure what to do because he wanted to be in his kid's life but he'd been trying to break up with Cassandra for months, no longer wanting to deal with the drama and toxicity, but he kept being drawn in regardless. After plenty of discussion and even going to his parents to ask what he should do, he ultimately made the decision to move to California to be with his daughter.
The arguments never stopped, the heartache only deepened, but Felix thought it was all worth it when he laid eyes on his daughter for the first time. He adored Paedyn and he wanted nothing but the best for her. Felix was thankful Cassandra was a good mother, despite being a terrible partner to him, so it wasn’t that he never trusted her to be with Pae, but he couldn’t be with her anymore himself. Felix not only moved out of Cassandra’s home, he moved to the town next to theirs, Aurora Bay. With shared custody, he was able to see his daughter often but keep his distance from Cassandra.
Now Felix lives in Ocean Crest Apartments and works at Palm Tree Inn in Aurora Bay, working hard and trying to remain positive so he can continue to see his daughter, despite feeling homesick.
