Warnings: implied toxic relationship, implied emotionally abusive relationship, harsh language, please ask me to tag something if I’ve missed it
Summary: R/AITA: Hey everyone... Bonded human here with a question. AITA for calling my bonded my second best option?
Like... I know that the title is bad, but please hear me out before y'all flame me into oblivion! Obligatory apologies for any typos as I am writing this on my phone, and that this is a throwaway account as I don't want my main to be possibly witch-hunted for this.
So! Some background before I get to the part where I might be the asshole, although I'm pretty sure that I'm not...
ANyways, so I've been bonded to a Ravenguard for about three months? And he's usually pretty quiet but he's.
So.
needy!
He has to know where I am at all times, and if I am late from work because of traffic, or because I"m working late or because I wanted to go have drinks with my friends and didn't mention it to him beforehand, he'll call or text me and it's like.
dude! Give me my damn space! I was told that RG were independent marines, which is why I didn't immediately chase him of when he said that we were bonded. He's not the first marine I've been bonded to, but that's not important for this story.
So.
Anyways.
Sorry for the rambling, I'm going to talk about the argument.
The set up: I've been late home by between an hour to three hours every night for a week, hanging out with my friends and doing work stuff. I turn my phone off while I'm at work so that I don't have to deal with his dumb poems or needy voice mails as it's suuuper embarrassing if I have to talk to him while on my breaks as my work breakroom is kind of small and there's no real privacy, and stepping out of the building would mean that I have to be wait to be let back in again and I'm not going to do that in order to reassure the world's most needy bird-brained spaceman.
Also some of my coworkers think that Astartes are cringe and dangerous and while I can kind of see where they are coming from, every astartes I've known has been kind of pathetic with how much they simp for me.
Although they should worship me. I'm the best! I give them food and shelter and let them cuddle me when I want them too.
Argh! I got distracted again. Right.
So, as I said before, I'd been late to get home every day for a week and had my phone off - not just the screen black, but fully off - so that I could focus on what I needed to do, and for some much needed time with my friends and me-time.
I walk into the apartment and nearly run face first into my RG! He was less than an inch from the front door! And before I could really process much, he scooped me up and hugged me close and said that he loved me and was worried about where I had been, and that he'd been about to go looking for me.
Like I'm a lost pet that needs to be retrieved!
And that totally killed the great mood I'd been in. I was also kiiiind of drunk from having several glasses of wine with the girls. But not so drunk as to have not driven myself home from the wine bar, of course. I know when I've had too much to drink, and I hadn't had nearly enough to be unsafe-drunk.
And I was suddenly pissed! I yelled at him, saying that he was such a needy and clingy buzz-kill. That I hated that he was all over me when I didn't want him to be and that I wanted him to fuck off back to wherever it was that he came from.
And this mopey pale motherfucker had the audacity to burst into tears when I rightfully tore into him for being a clingy shithead! He accused me of all sorts of things, that I was cruel and uncaring of his feelings. That he felt as though I viewed him as a second best option of hanging out with him, and that I favored my friends over him.
I told him that he was right. While he's fun to be around sometimes - when he's not being a mopey edgar allen poe wannabe - he's new. And it's not as if bonds with astartes last a lifetime. I've been bonded to four different astartes. They never stay for very long, and I told him that he'd just be another astartes who left my life as suddenly as he came into it. But that my girls have been mine since we were in diapers.
He went really quiet after that.
and. Uh.
I haven't seen him in like... Two or three days?
Did I fuck up? Am I the asshole here? I'm sure he's just being a melodramatic raven man somewhere in the woods. Any pointers on what I should have done better? Not that I think that I've fucked up much. Maybe I was a bit harsh, but he needed to be put in his place! You all get it... Right?
Xonfried heard that mutter from the blank mortal loud and clear. He has many questions, but there is a filthy heretic in front of him, and -
The scent of fresh blood hits him, and the Apothecary is torn between charging the heretic, and offering his aid to the injured mortal.
The Chaos Heretic’s eyes flash as the blank hisses what is likely some sort of insult and the bastard attempts to charge towards the two of them -
Only to be immediately charged and pinned by the Honorable Ancient Cousin and shot twice more by the snipers on the roof.
Which is why Xonfried pivots and strides towards the blank, pausing as he feels her aura - and smells her fear. “I am an apothecary, and your companion is bleeding heavily. Will you please allow me to come close and aid in tending her injuries? I can also send over the aid kit, if you would rather tend to her yourself.”
This particular blank is not the first he’s met, and he is able to suppress his instinctual dislike for someone who can rebuke the very warp and the dark powers with her presence. THis situation is very tense and dangerous, and he applauds her wariness. Xonfried is also fairly sure from the way the unconscious baseline woman is bleeding, that she is a psyker. A witch, but one clearly trying to evade being consumed by Chaos.
****
Vorca’s eyes go wide and he nods “I… I understand sir. If there is any way I can help, without being underfoot or sedated by an apothecary, I am eager to do so.” It would hopefully help him get his mind off of the way his hearts and body aches.
****
Cedric huffs a little, blinking away the momentary wave of exhaustion. Today has been long and it promises to be much longer still. He’s not thrilled by the way he is, for no discernable reasons, suddenly the center of attention when there are Much More Important things to deal with, but he does accept the offered food. He’s… Pretty sure he’s eaten at least once today, although it has been an extremely busy week, as the high temperatures and the large surge in travelers eager to explore the beaches around Gannet Point - and the forests - means that there are far more mortals getting themselves into medical trouble than normal.
“Very well, it has been some time since I ate last, my thanks, lady Rose.” The young Black Templar answers, grateful for the food as he eats quickly. He still has one hand on Mx Lullaby, to make sure that they don’t suddenly vanish. His vox chirps, and Hasier has sent him a message.
“Level four chaos bastard spotted. He’s brawling with Honorable Brother Sintus. My brothers and I are moving to set up a containment zone and aid in pacification and capture. We will likely need medical aid for the mortals as this chaos lord doesn’t care to try and reduce the casualties and collateral damage he is causing.”
“There is a welcoming team on their way over, Honorable brother Sintus was the first to get there because someone fitted him with an appropriately sized jetpack.” Cedric answers, his eyes widening in alarm. “Please do remind your older brothers that murdering filthy heretics without alliance confirmation will get them censured.”
***
Roland’s eyes widened as he guided her over to a nearby empty chair. “Please, sit down. I will go aid my brother.” He’s also going to message Arnault as well, to inform him that a brother is in need of aid. “Stay here, where it is safer, ja?”
The Nightlord smiles. "You were making such a sour face I assumed the flavor was not to your liking?" He clarifies.
Lullaby huffs, "No food's fine. I'm Frustrated."
"I know."
"I'm Antsy."
"Indeed."
"Our Sea Angels are out there! Facing down a Level 4! We should be out there with them!"
"I want that as well."
"So can we go now?"
"Not yet."
"Oh Come On!! I wanna go out there and Help. I'm fueled up! The bond sapping helped restore my magic tanks I Promise." Lullaby insists.
"But your regular stamina still needs replenishment. As does mine." Khopesh insists then turns his face pouty and purse lipped. "I mean...unless you want to leave me to play daring hero all alone. With only this meat pie for company." He sighs forlornly, holding the remains to his cheek.
"Pfft! No, no, no. I think we've all had enough of me doing that for Multiple life times." You say, taking more bites."
After that laugh, Lullaby does feel better. And the food makes their body feel better.
A thought comes to their mind. "Hey Khopesh...they said this guy is Level 4 and Chaos affiliated right?"
"Mm? Yes."
"How Chaos we talking?"
"Not as many outward mutations but he's got tech integrated into his body and draws a decent amount of his power from his allegiance to the dark gods."
"Psychery?"
"Not naturally no. If he has anything it's connected to his patrons..." Khopesh scans through the info that the research team had scuttled together quickly. He glances to Lullaby.
Their brows are knit, their back is slightly hunched.
Beep Beep! Another vox update comes in.
Khopesh hisses grimly and he shows the live feed.
Brother Scintus has Huron pinned, only for the bastard to grip the massive Dreadnought foot with his two hands and slowly but surely manage to Push.
"You Will Not Deny Me What IS MINE!" He snarls, bionic eye glowing with malice as he manages to unseat brother Scintus and topple his footing.
The venerable dreadnought tries to correct but cannot use his jump pack in time. He falls to the group and Huron siezes on the opportunity to jump to his face plate, and try to claw his way through to Scintus's actual body. Sparks fly with every swipe and Lullaby can see and hear denting metal.
"Get Back you Vile Heretic!" Another voice snarls, and a Black Templar with a chainsword jumps into the fray to keep Huron from cracking Scintus like an oyster. Chain swords clash and Huron seems to glow with a red raging aura. Even with the darts that had hit it seemed the knock out drugs barely did anything.
Khornnate Aura - Enhanced strength, durability, adrenaline increase and resistance to poisons and hitting like a Truck. Why isn't rocket-?
It hits. "Rocket can't use her power too much next to that untrained psycher or the other Astartes. She can't mulch Huron right now. And he'll keep using his Chaos enhanced strength to batter them back, unless..."
Khopesh tilts his head. "Unless?"
Lullaby straightens and stands, they've finished taking the last bite of food. "Khopesh, time to boogie. I have a Plan."
Khopesh's feral grin cuts across his face. "Now That's what I wanted to hear."
"Aren't you forgetting something brats?" Rose turned to see Karslor, looking much better for geting rest and food into him, stride out of a room behind Anrir. "Like I don't know, back up?"
"Kopesh, Lullaby, with us," Anrir commanded. "You can breif us en route. We're rendvou with Ailuno, Zek and Torglite on the way."
Cato nodded stifly. "The Grey Knights providing the cordon have been informed." Rose only paid partial attention to the exchange. Her attention focused on the live feed. Not the combatants but the land around it
"Come on, come on give me a better view," Rose muttered "and shit!" Reflexively she leaned into the hand Cato had rested on her shoulder. "One of the apartmens." She pointed to the approximate location. "Those are Mouse and Honey's cars. I think that's Mouse's appartment!"
Even before the Night Lord had sprinted out the door ot Apothecarium the live feed showed Hura and Darsas boiling out of the door at speeds rarely seen.

Sorry had to go AFK. Call in to the one of the basses and explain the situation before you show up. They'll have instructions on how to get you cleared in safely.
If you're near Garnet Point. Lay low. There's a *very bad news* new arival who's throwing hands in the street. You don't need to add geting caught in the middle of that shit to everything else you've got going on.
Stay Safe

Marissa nodded resting her head on table shaking as sensory memory from her time as the chaos warband's prisoner overwhelmed her. "Chaos astartes," she choaked out, shivering inspite of the midday heat. "Blue and white with the big squared armor. Threatening two women. Ultramarine walking Tank brother with Jet Pack was woosh and crash."
Rocket senses the imposing form of the Templar before she sees him. She stands back up from where she had been crouching in an attempt to see whether Mallory's body was reacting properly. Thankfully it did, as it seemed that the renewed nosebleed had come from the accidental double dose of mystery sedatives. The psyker's pulse was steady if a little low, and she breathed of her own accord.
That left the Templar. “Stay where you are or I'll kill us all and call it a day.” Rocket warned in a steady voice, fear bleeding out and turning into fury. Templars were zealous bastards, and she would have much rather deal with rogue Nurglite sorcerers in the sewers than even a single black and white fuck.
“I am going to extract my phone and call an Apothecary that knows the exact formulation and dosage of this sedative. Mission target is experiencing an overdose coupled with psychic overload and a bond issue,” she warned, doing exactly that. Rocket quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Zaarius, switching seamlessly to the Chaos-dialect. “Hey Doc, I'm in a bit of a situation, think fast. Alù gave me a mystery sedative, I presume he procured it from you, the injector double-shot, psyker is down with a nosebleed. Definitely an overdose.” She inhaled, watching the Templar eye her with noticeable disdain. He seemed to understand every... seventh or so word and it irritated him, causing his fingers to twitch. “There's a pissed off Templar Apothecary around. Do I fry him and try to get away so he wouldn't try to come for our heads for heresy? Or is the OD urgent enough for me to give psyker to him for space narcan administration?”
On the other end of the line, Zaarius gasped. Rocket facepalmed inwardly, one hundred percent sure there was something heretical in those sedatives made by a Slaaneshi chemist out of all people. Alù did not have a habit of keeping boring drugs around.
SCREEEE
Suddenly, a screech of metal echoed once again and without further prompting, the Templar drew his sword and disappeared back into the fighting yet again. Rocket could see the Chaos Lord again; he was oddly surrounded by a forcefield, or a mist?.. There were steps pounding everywhere. More Astartes were joining, their running feet like a wardrum. Too many. The Blank looked back at the unconscious Mallory and quickly took off a personal tracker and shoved in the woman's bra. A contingency plan.
That done, Rocket activated both her fuck-you-aura and her temporary invisibility and headed out for the Chaos Lord. Zaarius kept shouting something on the phone she'd stuck in a pocket; Rocket had a more important job now - making sure that no feral Khornite Marines would be summoned to the bloodbath.
Huron glowed crimson and menacing in the distance. The Templar held him back for now, but the Loyalist was no match for a feral Khorne-powered Chaos Lord.
As Mirak and Kara arrived, Sunniva was talking to a man on the lawn. At first it looked like Sev, he was even carrying a very deadly looking spear.
Then he spoke. Not Sev. Even if they looked terribly alike. “Jago might need this. I have a terrible feeling.”
“Does the Allfather know you borrowed Gungnir?” Sunniva teased. Taking the spear from Sevatar’s father.
Who turned around and smiled at the approaching pair. “Grandson. Lady Kara. It is good to see you both in good health.” The babies were gurgling happily at the new person, trying to mimic his face.
Jago poked his head out of the door. His attention fully on Mirak and his little family.
====
Alastor nodded at Vorca. ‘Your desire to help does you credit. Allow me to explain a few things you will need to know. Information is power.’
Grabbing a pad of paper and a pencil, Alastor walked Vorca through how to figure out who to extract in which order, and how to get them away discreetly, without causing further damage.
‘I did learn a few more things about stealth and secrecy after the Night Lords pulled me out of a ditch on Isstvan V. We will go together. Never go without backup, and do tell someone where you are going’ That sounded like experience.
===
So when Zaarius was preparing to act, a message suddenly popped up on his phone.
*Don’t worry, Vorca and I will retrieve the person in need of medical help.
"Y-you! Heretic! Mm-mmph! Bastard!" Xonfried coughs, blood welling up between his teeth as he bares them at the demon before him.
Huron the bastard, has the gall to smile at him. It's condescending, like a solider watching a child with a fake sword. "Come now Cousin. You did your best." He chuckles red aura still glowing with malice and rage.
Xonfried spits from where he's pinned against the still toppled Scintus. The Dreadnought's fall had done more than he'd initially thought, and the tomb soldier's other leg is trapped beneath his own frame.
Try as he might, and mightily did he try making chainsword hit after chainsword hit. But the damn heretics Khonate aura kept him going despite it all. And Xonfried's own stamina had no such replenishment in place.
It was only a matter of time before his exhaustion got the better of him.
Huron seems to relish this reality as he stands upon brother Scintus and grasps Xonfried by the neck to lift him.
"For what it's worth, I had no true hate for you Brother." Huron spits. "But I am afraid I must now use you to make an Example, of what happens when you Get In My Wa-"
FWIIIIIIWOOOSH!
Fires from behind rocketed to life.
"For the Emperooooooooooooor!"
Brother Scintus may have been down but he certainly wasn't out. And in a flash his jet packs roared to life again, sending the massive tomb of metal and rage forward.
"WHAT IN THE DARKEST NEBULA OF TZEEN-"
WHAM!
"O-Oof!" The noise escapes Xonfried on reflex as he's dropped like a sack in the mayhem. He gets one glancing look at Brother Scintus's Chasis flying over his head into the nearest building's wall before he realizes what he's looking at.
The back of the Dreadnought's body is visible and the rest is embedded Deep in the building. Bricks fall and smoke billows, alarms are going off from both cars and fire systems but...
He doesn't hear Huron.
Creeeeeeaaaaaak
Dammit.
The metal battering ram creaks as it's roughly pushed back Out, and leaves a gaping hole in the brick work.
Where there still somehow stands a very angry, very red and very dusty Huron.
"Now...you've done it!" He snarls, lurching forward as Xonfried lies prone though trying to gather himself. "I was Going to make it quick but now...Now I'm going to-"
Shiiiiink!
"You're going to Die Heretic." Another voice declares from nearby.
Suddenly two more Black Templars drop into place, chainswords at the ready.
Xonfried immediately cheers. "Roland! Arnault! GET HIM BROTHERS! FOR THE EMPEROR!"
""FOR THE EMPEROR!"" They reply in unison.
Huron looks far more exasperated. "Oh will you idiots SHUT UP!?"
Meanwhile nearby and fast approaching.
Lullaby speaks to both their current party and those above through a vox as they ride on Khopesh's shoulders. Their staff is attached to their back.
"Karlsor, Anrir, you're on retrieval and first aid. Cato you job is to protect Scintus. Rose you're with first aid, keep any baselines they grab calm."
Cato almost considers protesting. but Lullaby cuts him off. "He needs you Cato. Keep yourself between him and Huron so he can't try to rip him out again. If he gets close, beat him to a pulp."
After that Cato actually shuts his mouth and nods.
"Khopesh my abilities work best with you. I'm counting on you to get close. Don't focus on damage, just do your best to keep him distracted so we can set the trap and extract the others. Keme and Hebe, use your aims to keep Huron near but not on top of Khopesh and keep him from pestering the retrievers."
"Copy that." "Understood."
Khopesh glances up as the battle site nears. He feels his blood racing, his sharpened teeth and crushing jaw seem to ache with the desire to bite.
Rip! Tear! Flesh! Blood! Bones! Viscera!
Lullaby pets his cheek sense his desires. "You'll get your chance Sweetness."
Alastor moves swiftly and with purpose. It doesn’t take them long to get ready to go. It seems they are not the only ones on retrieval, which does please Alastor.
The two Ravens arrive to chaos. There’s a fight going on, the other guy has a chaos-y aura that makes Alastor wrinkle his nose in disgust. Keeping his hand on Vorca’s shoulder, he scans the area. ‘Vorca, which injured do you see?’ He doesn’t know the baseline woman who is lying unconscious, but his instincts tell him he should make her a priority.
Things were happening much too quickly for Rocket's liking and footsteps thundering from every angle made her sigh and dump her jacket next to a particularly remarkable tree, emptying the pockets into her cargo jorts beforehand. She reloaded the tranq gun, eyebrows crawling up as Black Templars seemed to multiply by mitosis. One went down like a sack of potatoes and suddenly two more appeared. The clumsy dreadnought briefly made for a wall ornament — and the entire building shook. People were looking from their windows, some idiot even went out on their balcony.
Rocket followed the Khornate psychic field, circling at the very edge of, covering the sides of reddish hue with her own field. Senses acute, she knew there were two smaller fields approaching from the other side of the forest. She was familiar enough with her own Khornate World Eater friends to be aware of what that meant and advanced fearlessly, knowing she could take one of them at a time. It was not her first rodeo in that regard.
Anything to stop indiscriminate bloodshed. Approaching Khornates will not ask questions, they'll just begin meleeing without cause or reason and by the sounds of it, even three Templars were not enough to subdue the Chaos Lord completely. They were all just buying time.
Running, panting, growling— Rocket's Null aura slammed into a feral World Eater much like a large vacuum brick. Attracted to the fight and all the more mindless for it, the unkempt, heavily mutated Marine briefly staggered and suddenly went down, flying ass over tits as the agonizing discomfort of feeling his armor melt from bone left him shaking, howling and twitching but otherwise unable to move. Rocket rushed with determination, keeping the dial up on her powers enough to incapacitate but not kill.
There was a second of an adulterated awkwardness when their eyes met. She, with the tranq gun jabbing once, twice into him, mystery substance relaxing his tense body as he attempted to fight it and was unsuccessful. And the feral World Eater, whose Nails had gone quiet long enough to see a vaguely human woman shaped black hole shaking her head at him in disappointment.
Rocket looked back. Huron was following her aura. Whatever had been in the sedative had at least dulled Mallory's psychic signature somewhat, or maybe Khornate influence had made him stupid with battle. Nonetheless, Rocket bolted, leaving the downed feral World Eater, using Huron's misplaced attention to draw him away from the target.
And messier it would get. As the Black Templar were getting smacked around, another one showed up. The tallest Black Templar they had ever seen. His armor was extremely ornate, including laurels on his helmet. While Huron was all red fury, this giant seemed to be cold, focused fury, like an Inwit winter storm.
High Marshal Sigismund had arrived, somehow radiating disapproval despite his face being covered. He charged at Huron, black blade ready to skewer the Khornate.
Rose listend into her earpiece intently taking Lulaby's plan as well as updates from other teams. She even raised a hand to Pat as he assisted the Grey Knights and growing group of astartes scouts evacuating civilians from the growing exclusion zone. Karslor didn't set her down as they slowed for Lullby to explain the Plan to Lord Aliuno and the rest of the rest of the Welcoming Comitee/ Containment Team
"The Warp Antibiotic has pivioted into zapping Approaching Khornintes drawn to the battle in the west quadrant." The voice of a particlularly sour temperd Grey Knight crackled over the vox.
"Captian Rushal and Brother Vorca of the Raven Guard have deployed themselves to extract the injured from the mess," Zarrius growled, "Directly from the medical bay. They left a note..." Even over the staticey vox the disdain driped like the venom from his claws.
In spite of Cato's growling Torglite fell in next to Kopesh and Karslor. "Good,"the corrupted tec priest burbled at Rose and Lulls, "you two already have vox beads. Do I assume correctly you two have been briefed in the handling of the machine spirits?"
"You got it big guy!" Lulls shot the Death Guard a tight grin.
"Affirmative," Rose adjusting her rappidly doned SAR gear answered trying to breath shallowly throuogh her mouth. "I have my EMT Kit, Scanner, and a few other things besides"
"Good!" Rose found a pair of vox beads pressed into her hand. How the hell did Ailuno end up "If you encoounter Rocket, or the medical escapees get the idiots on to the vox."
The next moment the Team split into two, Rose, Karslor and Anrir pealing off from the Welcome/Combat team, into the wood. She felt Karslor Wince as the voice of Grandmaster Sigismund rang out.

Marissa let out a sharp yeep interupting her shuddering explanition to the kind patron and other customers. Two Highly corroupted Astartes stoped just inside the door to set down... two women, an infant, and a diperbag?
"Stay hear my sweet, untill an evacuation team retrieves you." one of them buzzed before he took off after his brother. " This is a designated safe location." For a being that seemed to be made eighty percent of angry bees it was almost cute how he nuzzled his helm to one of the women's cheeks.
***
"It's good to see you sir?" Kara didn't quite know if that was the correct way to address a Jotun that was also you grandfather inlaw to be. He looked Nostromen at the point tall and rangy with tightly corded muscle. the twins burbbled into into laguhter when they finaly managed to shift to match is shape. Only they didn't quite one who had been contentedly night lord in Mirak's Arms babled seriously up at Loki a tinny human girl with fair skin blue grey eyes and hair just as black as it had been a moment ago. The baby at her hip looked betwene mama and Loki with flame red hair and delighted laughter dancing in emerald green eyes.
Honey gives Marissa a small smile, as she guides Mouse over to a nearby empty chair, knowing that the other is easily tired while caring for her little one. “Go, kick the ass of the idiot causing problems, my love.” She murmurs, nuzzling Darsas back.
“Yes, I will ensure that the blessings that this troublesome level four will ensure that he will no longer be an issue. Are you ready to go, Hura?” Darsas murmurs, still close to his beloved bonded.
~
“Well, aren’t you a big and fancy fucker. Come on then, you corpse-worshipping dog! I’ll fell you and the rest of your zealot brothers!” Huron mocked, raising his blade as he closes in with the largest Templar he’s ever seen, furious and determined to get his hands on his bonded.
~
Cedric spoke up on the vox-comm “I am in pursuit after the medbay escapees, with Claude assisting me in tracking them.”
~
Vorca’s eyes go wide and he freezes for several seconds as he stares at the unconscious and bleeding form of his- his former? Bonded. His hearts are still bleeding from her rejection, though the care that he’d received had helped. But he didn’t want her to die or worse because she had hurt him.
Especially as it is abundantly clear to him now that she was rightfully terrified of a marine coming to wreck her life. Quite possibly after she had managed to escape one and rebuild herself. It didn’t excuse the way she went about severing her bond with him but -
Chaos was terrifying, especially in the form of Chaos Marines, who were created to protect mankind and have forsaken all of their vows. The very reason for which all astartes were made. “I… I see her.” His voice cracks and breaks a little, but he musn’t let his personal - and conflicted - feelings get in the way of a rescue. He rushes over and picks her up, careful to support her body to try and ensure that she wouldn’t be injured further.
Alastor nodded. Following Vorca in quiet support. To anyone not a Raven or possibly a Night Lord, it seemed Mallory simply disappeared into thin air.
Immediately, Alastor guided Vorca away from the fighting, towards Cedric and Claude. He had a considerable amount of experience in telling when he was being followed.
=====
Loki laughed, delighted, patting both the girls’ heads. “Aren’t you wonderfully clever?” Shifting to match first one of the girls, then the other.
Sevatar chuckled “Come on in, all of you. Let’s get you situated.
====
Sigismund didn’t even answer, just growled at Huron as he swung his sword. Moving with total inevitability. As immovable as a mountain. Raining blows like hail upon the Chaos Astartes.
It was becoming easy to see why Sigismund was considered the greatest duelist among the First Captains of the Great Crusade.
At Kara calling him sir, Loki made a very exaggerated gasp of outrage. “I have a name, you know.” The whole theatrical overreaction making Mirak giggle because it was so much like Sevatar.
Before long, they were all settled in the living room. It felt quite a bit cooler than the outside. The girls were too young to spend much time in the sun.
Sev lightly punched Loki’s shoulder. “Looking to replace me with a smaller and cuter model?”
Making the Jotun laugh. It was really pretty funny how the god of mischief seemed to have appointed himself grandfather to all the three younger members of the family, not just Altani.
Who popped up from who knows where, excitedly cooing over the babies.
Yes, Kara, Mirak and their children would be very safe here. Not to mention well fed, as Sunniva practices proper Norse hospitality.
===
Only the battle existed for Sigismund, blow after blow, cut after cut. As inexorable as the tides.
Huron was good, but Sigismund was a First Captain during the Great Crusade. The Tyrant of Badab was driven on the defensive. Taking cut after cut. Damage building on more damage. This was clearly no ordinary Black Templar.
Finally Sigismund spoke, his voice flat and calm as midwinter night. “You are competent, but you are no Ezekyle.”
===
Out in the kitchen, while Sevatar was fetching drinks and other refreshments for their guests, Sunniva handed him Gungnir, explaining what Loki had said.
Sev just nodded, hugging her tightly before secreting the spear away from grasping children. “I have had similar feelings. Nothing clear yet, so I doubt it’s about Sigismund’s current issues.”
Indeed, Jago had gotten training with his psychic powers, which had improved his mood considerably. He probably would never be a huge fan of his ability, but it did help how matter of factly his teachers treated it.
“Aunt Rose, stay safe and be careful. Grandfather came over, brought this spear he apparently borrowed from his brother? Gu*something*nir? He said Uncle Jago might need it. I think that sounds concerning.
Shots ring out above Huron's head but he manages to dodge them. And what shots do land barely damage him through his still burning Khornate aura.
Or rather he doesn't feel the damage, and any blood spilled simply grants him more of war's blessings.
He takes a shot to his arm but pushes through Huron's bloodied teeth show in a malevolent grin as he laughs! "You Loyalists truly Do forget the most simple things. When one tactic fails."
The metal of Scintus's chassis shrieks and disintegrates bit by bit under Huron's increasing grip. And he actually does manage to wrench a huge plate free from the back of it.
"ADAPT!"
And with a snarl he flings the ceramite wall. It sails forward and hits it's intended mark.
Arnault.
The Champion manages to raise his chainsword just in time to block a fatal flattening. But the force still drives him backward at incredible speed until he becomes pinned against the nearby piles of rubble.
"ARNAULT!" Roland tries to escape the sinking but his legs just seem to crack the ground more as he tries.
And worst still sprouts of green begin crawling from the cracks everywhere around them. They are weak alone but spread like hungry tentacles in a united force
Sigismund grits his teeth, shifting carefully to avoid plundging himself into a gap or becoming tangled. If he turns to aid Roland and Arnault, he abandons Scintus. If he aids Scintus, he leaves his Bruders open to attack.
Huron revels in his dilemma. "Now who's in place to offer Mercy dear precious Cousin?" He chuckles.
"Uurgh.." A voice from inside the broken tomb.
Huron grins even wider, eyes even more bloodthirsty. He begins to move his hand towards the Dreadnought's open cavity.
Sigismund feels his blood run cold, but prepares to burst forward and rip this filthy Traitor's HANDS OFF-
"IN THE NAME OF MACRAGGE AND THE PRIMARCH I WILL BEAT YOU TO A PULP!"
Wait what?
Before either active combatants can flinch a new giant in Gold and Ultramarine Blue slams into place. He nearly flattens Huron who has to step back from his intended prey.
There stands Cato Sicarious, chapter master of the Ultramarines, right hand to the Primarch Reborn.
And he also has a great sword, not of chain but one that glows with a plasma and promise of violence.
"Not so much Fun when it's against Marines your own Size now is it?" Another almost shrill voice calls. He turns.
A ghoulish visage appears atop the rubble of their makeshift arena. Well ghoulish to a human, as far as Nightlords are concerned this one is as standard as they come.
Compared to Sigismund and Sicarious his presence almost want to make Huron laugh.
"So when your precious Emperor's Choir boys fail you send not one but Two Chapter Masters...and some Whoreson of Curze? To defeat me?" Huron laughs with disbelief. He's almost booted from anger for pure...incredulousity? Is that a word?
Khopesh grins, wider than he already was. "Now now Blackheart. Didn't your patrons ever teach you about judging looks? Wouldn't want your precious pantheon removing your boons because your pride got the better of you."
Huron snorts as Khopesh hops down to join the new three vs one. "You know you actually speak some sense Whoreson. Perhaps then I should show you Exactly what you are Dealing with!"
Another red aura flares to life around Huron, but only for a moment.
"...What!?"
Huron tries again, a glow appears briefly, and then gutters like a blown out candle.
Sigismund doesn't smile...but he certainly enjoys what he's seeing.
Huron tries again but in vane. No glow. No barbaric strength, even the tangles he'd summoned with his aura of rot seem to stop growing altogether.
"What...-WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME!?" He snarls, panting and angry and...
Afraid.
Why does he feel afraid?
Khopesh places a clawed hand upon his chest. "Why it's not what I've done to you. Blackheart..." The air pressure shifts and suddenly the Nightlords eyes seem to glow from within, a feral shifting light that seems to pierce what remains of his soul.
"It's What We've Done To You." The Nightlord recites in a voice that's only half his own. "While you were so busy throwing Entropy around left and right and Hurting our Friends, I decided to try...a little something new. Tell me...you don't recognize this feeling? Are you perhaps drawing...A Blank?"
Blackheart's own hearts race he doesn't understand. "You are no Blank! None of you are blanks!" But that girl...He flits his eyes around desperately searching for the blank. That Damn Blank! He knew he should've killed her when he had the chan-
SLAM-MM!
"Oo-Ooff!" Huron skitters back across the cracked ground, barely managing to stay upright against the hit and oppressive atmosphere.
And the damn Nightlord Still! Keeps! Talking!
"No. But it's actually not difficult to mimic one. After all, what is Silence but the absence of Entropy or Negentropy?" The Nightlord purrs after shoulder checking him back several feet. "Your seeding of the arena made it even Easier to leech it all back out. I had an entire runic array planned but you did my job for me. So thanks for that!"
What Nonsense is this!?
But Huron doesn't have time to ponder that. He has to face down three opponents without his auras. At least until he puzzles out how to Kill the witchy Nightlord!
Meanwhile above
Keme contacts his brother as he keeps his scope trained on the Arena's left side.
"Thank fuck. That battle aura was making our shots useless. Now comes the Fun part."
Hebe nods in agreement focused on the right. "Indeed. Now that we don't have to worry about hitting them, We can cover the Templars first, make sure the injured can be retrieved."
"We make sure he can't leave the circle."
"We'll make sure he can't escape his fate."
Both twins smile, perfectly in sync, and return to supplying cover fire.
As the shouting and roaring- among other Combat noises are happening. The teams for retrieval and Rescue as well as coordination and evacuation of civilians is going well- containment and ensuring thar social media- and the news do not watch and make this an even bigger shit show and PR disaster is what certain AL and Techmarine types are doing as part of triage and containment.
Hura and Darsas are closing in on the field of battle- like inevitably of death. The normally cheery Hura as a wicked scowl on his face as he supports his brother as they start to shift the battles odds in the Alliances favor more.
Rotten vines and illness coil around Huron and start to *drag him* down - to pin him- to try and slow him down.
"You have caused far too much trouble you man." Hura says darkly. "And you will stop it. Right now or you will learn why missing off Nurglites is not done. Boy."
***
"It may not have been in missions parameters, but it might help the situation- at least the aftermath if she stays alive."
Zaarous calls out- hes got the antidote- a face full of complicated emotions. "Lord Alu hadn't told me the knock out drugs were for a baseline psyker. Hopefully she will be... uh. Relatively fine. It hasn't been too long. We shall have to see."
He is mentally cussing out the Lordly EC in his head as he injects the antidote into Mallory.
"Target and medbay escapee Retrieved by Apothicaries Zarrius and Cedric. Enroute to Rot and Bone." Cedrics voice in rose's Vox came tight and clipped. "Captain Rushal enroute to medical team to retrieve Vox.
"Good," Ash'val's voice formed steady anchor. Calm and collected. The corner of Rose's attention on the unfolding battle wondered when her beloved had gotten a Power Sword and an improved set of plate. His battle panapoly and insigna also were diffrent. It hadn't been that long since she'd last seen him in armor!
"Check your phone!" Karslor hissed, at Rose. I have a feeling it's impot--..." before droping into a woozy knee in front of a disgruntled woman shaped patch of hazy air. "Haunter's balls what the fuck!"
Rose slid off in a controlled tumble knocking the patch of air ass over teakettle. Landing in a tangled sprawl of Blank and first responder. Rolling to the side she just missed tranqulizer jab and the crash of ceramite off to the side where Anrir had crashed into Karslor.
Rose had to give Rocket credit, the rockstar came up swinging only stoping when recognition lit her eyes "Ok not random knornites. Sorry about that"
" Nope," Rose agreed, "Don"t-forget-to-call-him-Lord Aliuno sent you this. and said to stay in communication." Fumbling in her pocket she pulled out the in-ear vox beads to untangle them from her phone before passing one to rocket. "He, Zeke and Torglite, Death Guard Tek Marine should be around here but they've been dead silent on the vox and haven't checked in. "
The email notification from mirak made her pause. She felt the blood drain from her face when she opened it. With shaking hand she activated the mic. "Transmision received from Scout Severation, First Captian Sevetarion has been loaned the Gungnir, the original, not the spear the primarch of the 6th named after it. Situation likely more unstable than previously thought or worse trouble coming." Hastily she stuffed her phone and vox bead back in the pants pocket it had come from.

Mirissa smilled wanely at Honey and Mouse. "Sorry, I'm sure your fellows are nice enough," she shuddered rubbing the place where augmetic met flesh, "I just, there was a ferral warband and I..."
Honey’s eyes softened in understanding “Feral warbands of any denomination can be dangerous - and feral Chaos warbands can be quite frightening and… Terrible. Would you like to sit with Mouse and I? I am Honey. If you’re hungry, I’d be happy to pay for some of the delicious pastries or sandwiches they have on hand.”
Mouse lights up and asks “I’d like their pastrami on rye with their soup of the day. It should be loaded potato today, right?”
Honey nods, smiling a little brighter “Yes, it is loaded potato soup day. I’m going to have a couple of their strawberry galettes and a pig in a blanket. What would you like?”

Moments after the antidote was administered to Mallory, she groans a little, starting to stir a little, though still mostly completely unconscious.
Vorca swallowed, his throat so dry, but he forced himself to speak, voice low and soothing “Go back to sleep, Mal. You’re going to be safe.” He… Hopes that he isn’t lying to her, as he knows that she’ll never let him hear the end of it.
Xonfried’s voice crackled, worn with pain and exhaustion through Cedric’s vox “There’s a badly injured Ultramarine dreadnaught, as well as an Emperor’s Champion and myself. We are holding our own against a filthy heretic, but I suspect that there is additional Rotten Bastard Servants getting involved. Additional back up is needed urgently.”
Cedric freezes still, his eyes widening as he recognized that voice. He pivots, searching for a once-familiar form. He shoves down what he wants to do, with what he should do - which is aid Zaarius in getting the current injured to the nearest base. He does send an SOS to the local Primaris chat, along with coordinates to the battle.

Huron snarled and his gaze narrowed, catching the casual taunt about being less skilled than the Warmaster of Chaos - how the fuck would one of the Emperor’s Choir Boys have crossed blades with him and not died for it? He growled, low and guttural as rot-twisting vines tried to drag him down.
He activated his vox and roared “ASTRAL CLAWS, TO ME! Bring forth our allies. These corpse-worshippers are playing dirty.” He spat out a mouthful of blood at the mouthy and far too fancy giant Templar as he blocked another blow from the big bastard.
“AYE SIR!” Over a dozen voices roared from the treeline. More chaos-afflicted Astartes made themselves known. Half of them charged into battle, the fury of Khorne turning the air to a bloody red.
The other half began to open fire, shooting at the corpse worshippers, their shots steady and trying to drive them back or to wound, as their melee-focused brothers closed the distance.
"That fuckin PRICK!" Lullaby snarls seeing through Khopesh's eyes as Huron's forces come crawling like ants.
Olly stands nearby like a sentinel, on guard duty and to help mask his friend's presence. He drops into a deeper stance as he hears the updates over his own vox. Jaws that can sheer marble clench in focus.
"I can barely maintain one vacuum let alone make several!" Lullaby snarls, thinking over options as they desperately try to maintain Khopesh's power boosts and prevent Huron from summoning his auras.
If not for the severe situation Lullaby would be damn proud of themselves for being able to leech that much power out of an area and make a small pocket of silence around just one marine. Enough to practically be inside his skin, allowing other magics to still work in the vicinity.
It was fucking Hard though. Like trying to keep a tossing ocean from filling up a kiddy pool on a beach. And trying to make that kiddy pool bigger might be easier than making more, but it would still likely send them into unconsciousness if they tried.
"Keme...Hebe -Ah! Objective shift. Focus on keeping those bastards OUT. Down as Many as you can!" Lullaby grits into their vox.
"Understood. No one gets to leave marks on you and Khopesh but us." "Copy that, they won't be allowed near him."
A shot rings out in Khopesh's vicinity and Lullaby sees another of Huron's minions drop before he can even get a proper melee going. He'd been trying to flank Khopesh while the empowered Nightlord had been ripping into a different enemy. The delight is evident in Khopesh's mind as the opponent he traded blows with drops like a heavy sack from another shot from a different angle.
"Many Thanks my Sea Angels." He says into his own vox.
Lullaby feels the cold exhausted sweat head on their brow, but they smile and take their own vox. "Thank you both. Once this idiot is down we're having a Damn good dinner and then you'll be able to leave as many marks as you want!"
"We'll hold you to that Evening Song" Keme replies. "We will all make it home tonight Moon gleam." Hebe adds.
Lullaby's momentary comfort is rocked by a lancing headache. It pulses with agony. Like expanding foam inside their skull pounding on the walls. Trying to get out.
Trying to make them break.
"ARGGGGH! KEEEP IT...Gotta keep iiiiit!"
Olly leans down, trying to calm the flare up without disrupting your other duties.
"Any longer and your entire connection may snap. This plan may need adjustment." He says, comforting hand on his little one's shoulder.
Lullaby knows he's right, but they're also terrified of letting everything. "Snap...Olly you're a genius!"
"Oh...why thank you." The Ultramarine nods graciously for the compliment.
Alright Sweetness time for an adjustment. Gonna have to time it perfectly, and be ready to go solo for a bit.
Understood. I can feel your anticipation! Planning to get the king off the chess board?
Better than that. Lullaby cracks their fingers, refocused and determined. I'm ready to take the Whole Damn Board.
Meanwhile Huron struggles with the vines and the shaky ground while the others are distracted with his allies. He just barely manages to mostly free himself, and next he plans to do something about clawing this intrusive blank aura out from Under his fucking Skin by clawing that Fucking Nightlord to Pieces-
"Oooh Blaaaaaackheaaaaaart!"
He turns at just the wrong moment to see a dark blue ceramite covered fist rocketing toward him.
That. Fucking. Nightlord.
Wh-Am-AM-AM!!!
The fist connects with tremendous force, sending him flying at the same time he feels almost like his insides cave in with a tremendous collapsing of pressure.
Like that punch had made an internal damn break on all sides and Huron finds himself flying ass over teakettle across the broken ground.
Thud! ThUD! TH-TH-HUD!
Huron can barely find the strength to stand, but...he finds He doesn't need to anymore.
His aura of blood flares back to life on his left. His aura of rot on his right. He stands almost more corpse than man.
But he stands.
And he Laughs.
"You Fucking FOOL!"
Huron snarls and cackles with delight at his luck turns yet again.
Cato balks at this new development. "WHAT DID YOU DO!?" He snarls as he bats away enemy Astartes left and right.
"Khopesh...?" Sigismund warns doing much the same but also preparing to re-engage.
Khopesh pants, dodging and weaving Huron's direct swipes. "Trust the process!"
Huron makes a swing Khopesh won't be able to avoid "Process this! You-"
Edgelord!
Huron's fist suddenly redirects and slams him...directly in the groin. Which would have hurt more if he wasn't armored.
But a direct hit with Khornate aura? It still hurts. "ARg!" Huron doubles over, blinking and gasping. "What the...?'
Why'd you hit yourself Dickhead? That wasn't very smart now Was it? A voice tuts in his head.
"What...What trickery is this!?" Huron tries to lunge again.
His leg buckles and swings, causing him to fall flat on his face.
Ooooh Clumsy~ Looks like somebody doesn't have their sea legs on. Or would it be Land Legs? Eh no matter, you're not doing good with either right now. The voice chirps
"Who is That!? Where are you!? What blasted hell am I dealing with Now!?" Huron asks trying to stand.
Only for his left hand to swing sideways and make him face plant back down like a puppy sliding on linoleum.
Were it not for the rage he'd sound properly exasperated and he snarls in frustration. Khopesh can't help but laugh and even some of Huron's own forces have stopped to watch their so called 'unbeatable' leader have this...fit? Episode??
I mean they're mostly Chaos Marines they understand possession but this isn't that...
It's far too humiliating to be that.
Huron manages to pull his head back up. Just for a moment. "You fools! Keep fighting! Defend me until I can destroy this intruder!"
Despite the comedy show he does still manage to project his res aura outward.
His soldiers jolt for a moment, before they raise their weapons again and let out their war cries.
"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOOOOOOD!"
Cato looks at Khopesh. "What was that about Trusting the Process??"
The Nightlord grimaces. "Lullaby will handle this. We just need to buy them a little more time."
"Very well..." Hura breathes. "Let us show these energetic youngsters how it was done in Our time."
Darsas nods in agreement.
Sigismund, despite his hatred for Chaos nods as well, and takes his stance.
Somehow, as the reinforcements start to get close, a black-armored figure pops up nearly out of nowhere and swipes at the nearest chaos marine with twin swords, scoring a deep cut through his shoulder before spinning off and seeming to split into multiple fighters, each one moving quickly and crossing paths, though only one apparently left wounds behind. The real Tercelle fought in complete silence, making it harder still to differentiate him from the duplicates.
The twins blinked as they recognized a very complex hydra trick. The fighter was clearly not a hydra. But there had to be one around somewhere...over there Hebe mouthed, darting his eyes to a certain newly arrived 'white scar' techmarine blending in very thoroughly with a piece of rubble. Keme nodded once. Arnaldus was an elder after all, maybe even older than nope don't want to think about him. Keme kept a watch to make sure they tracked the real Tercelle while Hebe took shots at the marines targeted by the false versions.
Meanwhile back in the rubble Sintus attempted to use his jetpack to get himself up. Zaarius looked over worriedly. The chassis was cracked open and the marine inside almost certainly needed urgent care, but moving the heavy frame during a fight would not be an easy task.
i understand the speaker mouth is iconic for noise marines, The noise marine/EC art features the speaker mouth (and is probably in fact exactly what the majority of byzanti’s design is based on, which is why i think he should also have the single slaaneshi boob)
but on the other hand GOD DAMN YOU HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO USE DESIRE TO CONSUME AS A SYMBOL OF OBSESSIVE POSSESIVE TWISTED AFFECTION UNDER THESE CONDITIONS
Hura’s vox chirped with the special sound he’d reserved for his young protege’s cell phone. Interesting - Cedric shouldn’t be on shift for another twenty-eight hours. He pressed the button to accept. “Yes Cedric?”
“I have a new arrival here with a badly infected shoulder. I am doing my best to contain the infection, but require assistance in treating it.” Cedric’s voice came through the speaker. “I believe transport to be inadvisable due to contamination risk.”
Ah. a blessed infection. “Copy. I am on the way to your coordinates.” He grabbed a medbag he had packed for this purpose and headed out.
He could smell the infection before he spotted them. Definitely one of Grandfather’s nastier little gifts. He paused and blinked once as he got in closer. Cedric was sitting on the ground tending to what looked for all the world like a primaris emperor’s child. Silver-white hair, clear lavender eyes, china-smooth skin, even the armor colors were right. He approached carefully, making sure to stay in the newcomer’s sight-line. “Hallo. I am Apothecary Hura. I can remove the infection from your shoulder if you will allow me to touch you.” He came in closer and pulled a stone from his bag to contain the blessing. “What is your name, young one?”
The new arrival turned to look at Hura but didn’t try to move away. “Tomas, Sons of the Phoenix chapter, Infernus Squad.” Hura started to channel the plague into a rough chunk of moss agate that started to take on an unhealthy green glow. “Huh. I didn’t realize they remade Emperor’s children in the Imperium,” he added conversationally.
Cedric narrowed his eyes. “The Sons of the Phoenix are a primaris chapter of Dorn’s geneline.” He stated flatly. Honestly what was Hura thinking.
Hura stared at the pair for a full minute before stepping back and laughing at a length that would have been concerning had he still required oxygen to function. Tomas arched one eyebrow and inquired “Is he always like this?”
“Mostly,” Cedric agrees, checking on Tomas’s shoulder. “Is the infection fully cleared?” He asks Hura with a reproachful look.
“Yes, yes, the infection is gone,” Hura manages to get out between laughs, once he remembers that he needs to breathe in order to talk. “Oh, I can’t wait to introduce you to Zaarius!”
“And why would he be interested in meeting that stupid winged whore?” Cedric snapped, clearly irritated.
Hura gasped again, having temporarily forgotten that he needs to breathe in order to speak. “Oh, he is a whore, but he’s quite good with little brothers.” Cedric just sighed and helped Tomas up. “C’mon, let’s get back to the base so you can rest up and meet the others.” And leave Hura to get over…whatever had gotten into him.

Summary: Torvan has some visitors. He is a watchful and gracious host.
Torvan hums along to the music that had been playing for a little over a couple of hours. The powerful sorcerer was very much aware of the fact that he had some unwanted visitors. These ones were quite bold, having arrived in a group of six, laughing and chatting as they piled out of the vehicle that they had driven here in.
They chattered and laughed and explored his domain with a naive curiosity that was nourishing in it's own way. Some of his brothers' spirits whispered and growled, displeased by the intrusion and wanting to strike swiftly and immediately. But Torvan had not survived as long as he had by being hasty.
He let the little morsels wear themselves out in the summer desert heat, through the dust and the mold of buildings thought long abandoned. Let them split off into groups of two as the hours crawled on moment by moment.
Torvan had circled back to the vehicle they had used to come here. It was made out of materials that he could tear apart with his bare hands if he felt like it. Instead of doing so, he instead plucked several long and sturdy cactus thorns and plunged two into each of the inflated tires, making sure that the gas inside of them would slowly deflate, effectively hobbling the vehicle.
One of the pairs of sacrifices was approaching, so Torvan cloaked himself in the warp, making himself difficult to focus on. The energy required was irritating, but the consternation and worry that wafted off of the pair in waves was delectable, even at the distance he was keeping to ensure that his presence wasn't immediately noticeable.
One of the mortals started to cry and shake, pointing frantically at the half-deflated tires. The other placed their hands on the first's shoulders, speaking in low, soothing tones as they approached the back of the vehicle, using a key to open it. The second person takes out some of the large packages of what smells like food provisions, setting them down in the hard packed sandy-dirt, lifting up a secret hatch and pulling out another box.
The second mortal pulled out small black squares, a tube and a mechanical pump. They proceeded to pull out, patch and began to refill one of the tires with air. By hand it was like the mortal at least an hour - and that was if they could work continuously in the summer sun that would only get hotter. Torvan planned on returning later to lame the vehicle once again, taking the repair kit and air pump with him.
He found that The second of the pairs of mortals had crossed the entirety of the abandoned mining town that Torvan had claimed as his domain. One of them was staring up at the mountain path that lead up to the mines that had once brought this town a modicum of wealth and perhaps even status in the dusty, desert region that he had found himself in. But there was not much left to mine in those mines that baselines - especially those without psychic gifts - could turn into usable materials. But oh, was there a wealth for him in this place, and in the mines further up.
A low, amused rumble left him, and he made sure that his vox projected it outward. He scraped the ground with two of his Talons, darting just slow enough that he knows that the two mortals - who had spun to see the source of the sound - could see him only as a large, dark shape. The panicked shrieking was delightful! Some mortals just went quiet, which was boring, though they also tended to go panic-still, which made hunting even easier.
He hears their ragged breathing and terrified heartbeats as they go running past him at their top speed.
Torvan picks up a rock, and slings it over the building he is leaning his bulk against gently and throws it, grinning as it makes a loud bang! On the tin roof.
He heard more screaming - not just from the pair who were still running, but the two who were in the building he had thrown the rock at. He chortles to himself and circles back around to the vehicle.
Excellent!
As predicted, the pair of humans who had been tending to the vehicle had left to investigate the source of the screaming.
Torvan extends one claw and delicately carves into one side of the vehicle in the tongue the mortals were speaking in - which he had acquired from a previous foolish traveler who had happened upon his home -
You should not have come here
He also deliberately pokes a hole into each of the vehicle's tires again, before circling back around to where the six mortals were clumped together in the middle of town, out in the open.
Foolish. But then again, there was nowhere within his domain that they could truly hide from him and the spirits of his brothers. Some of them wanted to run now. Others were complaining that they had spent all this time to get out here, why should they leave just because someone saw something blurry out of the corner out of their eyes, and that they'd apparently driven over cactus spines? Another suggested that they break to eat.
Torvan's grin only widens as the mortals head to their vehicle. The terror and confusion they all emanate is heady and spectacular in all of the best ways. A low, rumbling purr leaves the Black Legionnaire as they point at the carvings he had made, and others despair over the state of the tires. One tries for the repair kit-
Which only has enough additional patches to repair half of the tires. Arguments are made as to whether or not they should risk it on half deflated tires, which tires they should repair, and if the owner of the vehicle also had a spare tire, which would bring up the total number of good tires up to three. Others are arguing that they are being fucked with by vandals, and to stand their ground, or to find the other vehicle or vehicles that must be present and raid for their own supplies, head into the small town several hours' by land vehicle from this location and report what happened to the local arbites force.
Not that those trembling, terrified mortals would do anything. Not after he had made his point to everyone who lived in that small village year-round who their new Lord was, and how to appease him. He was a benevolent lord, and one who was generally content to let the mortals under his control to do as they pleased as long as they obeyed the few edicts he gave them and did not interfere in his rituals and fun when outsiders wandered in with arrogant ignorance.
So far, they had been obeying his orders- as they knew what would happen, should they disobey him and he found out. And he always found out. Torvan hummed to himself, listening to the small device that one of the terrified mortals had dropped, slowly moving over to it. It was pumping out music - not Slaaneshi music, for he had his faculties about him and his mind and body were not swimming in and out of the materium.
He bows to his brothers' spirits, who had gathered around him in a circle, and he began to dance, pulling each of them in close as he dipped, spun and waltzed with them, the music and the terrified confusion of the mortals were a heady mix. A warm, rich laugh leaves the Librarian as the mortals approach the center of town, turning his head to stare at them as he continued to dance with those whom he had held closest in life "You have wandered where you should not, little mortals." He rumbled, still in a playful and good mood. "Grovel, and you may yet live. But only one of you. The others... My brothers hunger for flesh and for spirit, and you'll do nicely." He made sure to speak clearly and carefully in the same tongue the mortals had been talking in previously.
The begging and sobbing - the feelings of agonized choice and soul-deep betrayal as each started to beg for their lives, promising obedience, promising all the wealth they possessed, the desire to "Please, please let me live!" From each of them was intoxicating!
Torvan danced his way over to the six terrified and trembling mortals "You are not kneeling in supplication. I do not believe you are serious. Entertain me, and perhaps you will live. But for your falsity you will be punished."
All six mortals collapsed to the ground, still sobbing and pleading with trembling bodies and fear-clenched souls. For three of them he broke their right legs with a downward stomp of a booted foot - their screams and agony, mixed with the fresh scent of their blood was sublime. The other three, he broke their left legs.
"Run! Run little mortals and hide away as best as you can! If you manage to evade me until the next sunrise, I will let you live. Or if you entertain me well enough and truly pledge your life-long service to me. I shall even close my eyes and give you a verbal count down."
The mortals wept and fled in every direction as Torvan gamely closed his eyes, counting down from 100. He did so love a good hunt. He's been wanting a hunt like this forever. Hopefully this group will be more entertaining than the last.
Author's note: More of Jophiel in Husbandry AU, during the Barking Wolves Arc. Tomas belongs to @felinisnoctis, thanks for letting me borrow them!
Summary: Called to give his testimony, Jophiel learns that duty sometimes demands silence where justice should have spoken.
Warning: Institutional corruption, bullying, victim-blaming, aftermath of assault, references to torture, discussion of missing persons, emotional distress. LMK if I need to add anything else.
Jophiel squeezed Tomas's hand once before the other Primaris Marine let go.
"I'll be right here," Tomas murmured.
Jophiel nodded, drawing a slow breath before stepping into the office alone. The door sealed behind him with a heavy hiss. A lone Thousand Sons officer sat behind a simple desk, several data-slates already stacked neatly before him. His expression was unreadable.
"Scout Jophiel."
"Sir."
"Please sit."
Jophiel obeyed, folding his damaged wings as carefully as he could. Even bandaged, they ached. The officer activated a recorder. "For the record, state your account of the incident."
Jophiel repeated everything as plainly as he could remember it. He had been training alone. The four Blood Claws had entered. They had asked to spar. He had declined because previous unsupervised spars between them had ended in violence.
They had attacked regardless. One had trapped his wings beneath a weighted net. Another had demanded answers regarding Algeret's disappearance. He had repeatedly stated that he knew nothing.
He had been beaten until reinforcements arrived. The officer listened without interruption, making occasional notes. When Jophiel finally fell silent, the room remained quiet for several long moments.
"Do you possess any information regarding Scout Algeret's disappearance?"
"No."
"You are certain?"
"I am."
Long bones dissolving into broth flickered across his memory. Sanguinal stew. Prepared according to the rites of Baal. Nothing unusual. Nothing connected.
"I have never met him," Jophiel said. "I don't know what happened to him."
The officer watched him for another moment before lowering his gaze to the slate. "I believe you."
Jophiel blinked. "You... do?"
"I do." Relief blossomed for only a heartbeat before the officer continued. "I have also reviewed the statements of every witness present."
"And?"
"The Blood Claws will receive corrective measures."
Jophiel searched the officer's face for some hint of what those measures might actually be.
He found none. "And me?"
The officer exhaled quietly. "You will attend conflict de-escalation instruction."
Silence.
Jophiel simply stared. "...Sir?"
"You heard me."
"They attacked me."
"They did."
"They fractured both of my wings."
"Yes."
"They threw a weighted restraint over me."
"Correct."
"They questioned me while they were beating me."
"Yes."
"And..." His voice cracked despite himself. "...I am being punished."
The officer was silent for several seconds.
"When reinforcement arrived," he finally said, "the confrontation expanded from four combatants to nine."
"They came to pull them off me."
"They nonetheless became participants."
"They saved my life."
"They escalated the engagement."
Jophiel could only stare. It was like speaking to a wall. "They would have killed me."
"I acknowledge that possibility."
"Then why am I the one standing here?"
The Thousand Son's expression tightened by the barest fraction.
"Because," he said quietly, "I am permitted to discipline your conduct."
The words landed strangely.
Permitted.
Not expected.
Not required.
Permitted.
"And theirs?"
A pause.
"...Their circumstances are more complicated."
"What does that mean?"
"It means I cannot discuss them."
"They've hurt Cedric."
Silence.
"They've hurt Olly."
Silence.
"They've hurt civilians."
The officer remained perfectly still.
"They broke my wings."
"I know."
"They're just going to keep doing it."
Another silence.
This one stretched painfully long.
Finally the Thousand Son folded his hands. "Scout."
His voice had softened. "There are matters you are not cleared to know."
Jophiel frowned. "I am aware."
The officer chose each word with obvious care. "...that the Blood Claws are under protections unavailable to most scouts."
Protections. Not privileges. The distinction was subtle. It did not make Jophiel feel any better. It makes something in his hearts burn. An ugly feeling that he’s pushing down. For the moment.
"I cannot explain those protections."
"I cannot revoke them."
"And I cannot allow them to become public knowledge."
"Then they just..." Jophiel swallowed. "...keep hurting people?"
The officer closed his eyes for only a moment. "I hope not."
Hope. Not confidence. Hope. Something cold settled in Jophiel's stomach. The officer wasn't dismissing the problem. He simply couldn't solve it.
"The conflict de-escalation instruction," the Thousand Son continued, "is not because I believe you started the fight."
Jophiel looked up.
"It is because if this happens again..." He hesitated. "...I need every scout under my authority to survive it."
Jophiel didn't know whether that made the punishment easier or harder to accept. He rose slowly. "...Permission to leave?"
“Granted."
Outside the room, Tomas was already waiting. One look at Jophiel's face and he was on his feet. "How'd it go?"
Jophiel stood silently for a long moment before answering.
"...I think..." His voice sounded very small. "...I think the Officers know something they won't tell us."
Tomas frowned. "And?"
"And whatever it is..." Jophiel looked back at the closed office door. "...it's hurting everyone."
Here's a question for y'all: most toxic relationship advice your astartes would give to a newly bonded brother? I've seen good advice, now I want terrible advice that the giver thinks is good.

It occurs to me that if Sanguinus showed up in Husbandry he would be absolutely delighted some his sons could fly with him. Nanael and Jophiel would be besides themselves with joy. Poor Batsy woukld be sad and full of Chaos shaped regret.
Batsy belongs to @felinisnoctis so- i am curious to see how he would respond.
Oh for sure Sanguinius would be so delighted that some of his sons can fly with him like this. And Nanael and Jophiel would both be awed and so delighted and honored to fly with their Primarch!
Batsy might be interesting. Batsy's wings are a gift from Grandfather after all - so if he'd never fallen he wouldn't have wings, just lamenter luck.
The real fun one - Asariel, it's been a while since he's been out to play. But he's a firstborn blood angel with implanted wings. And he has no idea but he looks exactly like a miniature version of Father.
She feels like a fool... running out of ammunition to the point that she couldn't even kill herself and she could hear those talons on the metal coming to find her. She holds her rosary tightly praying for the Emperor to strike her dead or heal her leg. She pauses in her prayers as she can hear the metallic clink of an incense burner swinging back and forth. She's been marked by the beast that stalks after her... unknown she was made to be prey for a fallen angel. The old Chaplain helmet the skull face replaced the old mangled thing that was what was left of his face. Armor and flesh fuse as one and yet the body suit is exposed from what she can see. His chest fully exposed revealing corded and grown transhuman muscles all the way down to his belly button... the shape of a heart that reveals his flesh. Between his legs she is drawn to the thinly covered cock, aroused and pressing upon the material of the undersuit. His arms and legs seemed to be covered in such strange looking armor that is makes it all look seamless between flesh and armor. His legs digigraded and ending in talons. Behind him swings a long tail that ends in a split tail tip and seems to mimic a flogging instrument that strikes his own back... the exposed flesh is in the shape of an iron cross. This fallen son of Dorn... a follower of blessed Sigismund fell to the temptations of the sweet flesh.
She's as quiet as a mouse as she is curled so inward on herself and yet she cannot look away but he turns as if not seeing the quivering thing huddled in the shadow taking a few steps before turning and sprinting right at her. She points the empty gun at her chin pulling the trigger hard as if hoping bullets would manifest. But none do as the heavy weight of the beast over her is suffocating. She's covered her face as she screams trying to fold in on herself as she waits and waits for the horrors to begin.
"Yes that's it little one... take a nice deep breath" He speaks so sweetly as his Musk is already poisoning her mind. He was like a carnivorous plant made perfectly to attract his preferred prey and they came to him crawling and begging for his attention... his affection. Her hand bleeds as she grips the metal aquilia tightly in her fist , heart beating so fast she might die of fright. But she inhales his musk deeply and that fear slows down... she just looks at him stunned. "Good... good" He says cupping her face as she flinches as if fighting his influence. Unfortunately for the Imperium they don't make many willful things and she might have been something if she had gotten away from his gaze. "Oh little one... you're hurt." He says taking her hand and slowly bending away the fingers clutching- She pulls her hand back the fear has returned.
He tuts softly as his mouth opens, his hand gripping her face gently squeezing on her lower jaw till she opens up wide plunging that tongue into her throat. Laced with aphrodisiacs and other things that he rarely uses to subdue lively prey. Her eyes widen as she zones out in a happier place it seems. His tail tips rake across his back as if admonishing himself for how sloppy this had gotten. He likes lively lovers anyway. "What a poor mess you are in beloved." He says collecting her into his arms, "Out of friends," He says stepping over bodies, "Out of ammo..." He kicks her guns away as his tail swings the incense behind him, "Lucky little love... your Chaplain has arrived to come save you. Praise the Emperor." He says laughing as she curls up in his arms as he returns back to the ship with his prize.

Summary: Telivo wakes up. This is only the first of many surprises
"You are certain of which gene-line he is?" A cold but curious voice asked, their tone lilting at the end, as Telivo slowly started to wake up.
"I had his gene-seed tested three times to be sure. Despite - or perhaps because of the way he looks - his geneseed is that of the Alpha legion." A second voice, also far too close to Telivo for his comfort spoke.
The young alpha legionnaire kept his breathing even and shallow, trying to make it seem as if he was still asleep or unconscious as he tried to figure out where he was and what the fuck had happened. The last thing he remembered clearly was -
The flames spread higher and the smoke was thick and choking, somehow able to get past the high quality respirator that was part of his armor. Telivo did his best to not cough, as the prowling and cackling monster that loomed through the smoke, it's massive shadow shifting in strange ways from the light of the flames as it moved inexorably closer to where he was hiding.
Telivo had been fighting and running and trying to evade this monster for weeks, but no matter what he did, no clever trick or hastily thrown together trap even slowed this horrible monstrosity down. He'd been left on this world by his shit-ass brothers when all five of them realized they were being hunted by this dogged thing.
He had even beaten all of them to the drop pod first, and had waited for them to get back too, rather than leaving them to be hunted and consumed by this flame-beast! And for his generosity and brotherly concern they had worked together to throw him out of the pod, yelling thire fake apologies, explaining that the monster needed a sacrifice and he had been picked.
"I am curious as to why he got the markings he does. I didn't think that the Alpha legion went in for ritual scarification. Isn't that more of a Salamander and Word Bearer thing? I think World Eaters do it as well." The first voice mused, picking up one of Telivo's limp hands - which he forced to stay relaxed, even as agony shot up his arm.
He does allow himself to make a small sound and instinctively try to flinch away from the pain.
"Oh, stop that now you fussy snake. I'm not hurting you, merely looking more closely at some of the extensive burn wounds you've suffered. Also, I know that you're awake, so stop pretending. You're hooked up to a heart monitor, and when you woke up your heart rate jumped to awake levels for your likely age group and injury level." The cold voice scolded lightly, amusement coloring their tone as well.
Telivo swallowed a couple of times as he slowly forced his eyes open, hissing at the bright light that stabbed themselves into his eyes. He turned his head away from the light , freezing as he felt something press against part of his cheek. He raised up one agony filled hand to his face. Sure enough, as he feared, there was a muzzle on his face. His fingers began to find the clasp to get himself free, waiting for either of the apothecaries to speak or try and stop him, watchful and deeply suspicious.
Sure enough, the one who looked as though he was a Son of Dorn grabbed his free hand and pulled it away. "No. You tried biting multiple staff members while you were asleep, and I am unconvinced that you won't try it again, now that you're awake."
The other apothecary - an Emperor's Child if the elegant if strange clothing and silvery hair were anything to go by - and his insect like wings that flicked behind him - laughed "Come now, Melinth. You know that hydra bite more often than they don't, one way or another. It's in their nature to bite if they have the fangs to bare, and the ability to bite. One way or another."
Melinth - as was apparently what the other's name was - grunted shortly and sent the Emperor's Child a glare "Zaarius, I will sign you up for that module if you make another comment like that again. Making an assumption of every member of a legion or chapter being the way that they are thought of stereotypically is reductive and unhelpful in the medical setting."
Zaarius sighed dramatically, throwing his hands up into the air "Fine, fine. But considering that this particular hydra's bite is deeply poisonous, I do insist that we keep the muzzle on his face until we know that he will comply with treatment and can keep his instinctual physical reactions in check. That was such a stressful three days while I came up with an antidote to his venom! And we don't know if he's only got the one, or multiple."
Telivo growls low in his throat and yanked his hands out of their grasp to sign in shaky but hopefully readable battle sign [Am here. Awake. Stop talking as if I am not here.]
"My my, aren't you a sassy little serpent? Fine, fine. I do suppose that it is generally considered good behavior to speak with your patients, rather than at or around them while they are in the room. Do you know how you got these wounds?"
[Sacrificed to flame monster by shit-brothers so they could flee.] Was his irritated answer. [Were there for survival training. Things went bad.] Telivo answered. Part of him feels that maybe he should gatekeep some of this information, but he's in too much pain to try and plot [Much pain. Help request?] Please wasn't really a battle sign, but he was attempting at more politeness than either of these two fucks ever gave him.
"This is pain medication, and I will be injecting it through this IV line. It should take about ten minutes to kick in, and you may feel a burning sensation in your chest and/or loins that feels similar to burning or as if you are wetting yourself. Do not worry, you are not wetting yourself. Even if you did, we do have people who tend to such things, and we can have you temporarily moved out of the bed in order to make sure that you are in a clean bed and clothing." Melinth explains as he carefully draws up the medication, ensuring that the alpha legionnaire could see what he was getting and how much he was getting.
"The pain won't be gone entirely, but it should reduce the amount of pain you are in significantly, and cause you to not mind the fact that youa re in pain. Not in any titilating way, but in the I am unable to focus on much sort of way. However, if you are still in a significant amount of pain, or feel symptoms of fear, stress or anxiety that intensify sharply upon the dose of medication taking affect - which is again, in ten minutes from now, press the red button and someone will come in to attend to you. You are receiving nutrients and fluids through this IV line, so sever it at your own peril." The Emperor's Child explains "While you can try to leave this room or the clinic entirely, I am unsure where you would go, as you are a new arrival to this world and likely have no connections who can or would take you in."
"Zaarius! Mind your words." The Son of Dorn scolded.
"That is. Actually hilarious coming from you. I am being blunt because this young Astartes needs to understand that he is not being held prisoner here, but it is very strongly discouraged for him to leave, if he does want to be able to recover from his deep and extensive burns in a safe and clean environment. While the main bases here in Gannet Point do have medical bays that are able to help a patient with the amount of injuries he has, Stoneflame is the kindest when it comes to repayment plans." Zaarius purred, his eyes glittering "And I do not know about you, but the amount of work that this little snake has caused me means that I have quite a few thins to add to his tab. And you're one to talk about how another talks to their patients."
"You are very new to this world and the way that we have things work here. I suspect that you are trying to stress him out on purpose. While there ais some testing that does say that doing so to the point of flooding the astartes' in question body with combat hormones to the point where their healing factor temporarily increases, giving some small benefit in the short term, you know well the many and varied long term consequences of stressing your patients in some ways. I will take you off this case if you don't stop being cruel to this astartes for no good reason." Melinth scolds, glaring a little at the other.
"He is a Chaos Astartes, and will not trust a gentle hand offering him aid and resources without a clear explanation of the cost to him for it." Zaarius argues scowling at Melinth.
"You are not giving clear explanation of potential repayment options, you are trying to terrorize them. Take a walk, Zaarius. Call your bonded, and eat food. Once you have cleared your head, we will speak more on such things." The Imperial Fist Apothecary ordered him and... The older chaos marine... Obeyd?
What kind of strange world did he land on? The Fist was a loyalist, wasn't he? Telivo squints at the Fist, trying to figure ou tif the other was a renegade or a Chaos marine of a different faction... But as far as the scout could tell. no... Melinth was a corpse worshipper. Or, considering how old his armor was, a servant of the Emperor, before the tyrant had been nearly slain.
The Emperor's child huffs and stalks off "You know as well as I do that hydra are always, always trouble, in one form or another! You will see. This one is no different."
"Call your bonded, I know that you're worrying about them, which is why you are being so rude." Melinth ordered.
Zaarius hissed wordlessly in response and stomped off.
Telivo really wanted to know more about some of the terms the two of them had been throwing around... But the pain medication was taking effect. Oh... He had been given some of the good stuff. He blinked once, twice, three times before drifting back off to sleep. Maybe when he woke up everything would make sense again. Or this was a moderately pleasant if deeply strange delusion his mind had conjured up as he lay dying, betrayed by his brothers and left to be hunted down and killed by a massive, terrifying flame-monster.
Somehow I feel like Melinth could make it very boring.
...Then again workplace training modules are probably one of the worst punishments for slaaneshi marines. They're practically sensory deprivation in video form.

“Hey, so… We need to talk.” Emily says, tugging a little on her light brown hair with a finger, not looking directly at Ahirom as she speaks.
“… Have we not been talking to one another off and on for most of the afternoon?” Ahirom asks, blinking a little in confusion as he stares at his bonded, tilting his head a little in confusion.
She lets out an irritated huff, rolling her eyes “I guess. I mean, I haven’t really been paying much attention, actually? I’ve been focused on some drama that a couple of my friends have been getting into. Apparently Chelsea and Amelie are fighting over who stole whose boyfriend again. Honestly, the two of them steal partners from one another all the time. It’s one of the things they do, as part of their weird rivalry.”
Ahirom blinks, feeling vaguely hurt that what he had thought as a reciprocal conversation about their plans for the weekend had been something that his bonded hadn’t even bothered to really register as something to actively participate in. He mentally shakes off the brief hurt - he knows how much her friends mean to her. “I see. What was it that you wanted to talk to me about?”
“So… While you’ve been great! You’re a lot of fun, you’re super artsy and creative and beautiful, it’s just… I don’t. I don’t see this thing between the two of us working out long-term.” Emily explains, still refusing to look at him as she fidgets with her phone and her hair.
“… What thing?” Ahirom asks, his voice shaking a little, as he could feel his throat closing in horror, confusion and pain. She wasn’t rejecting their bond, was she? He… He hadn’t done anything to upset or anger her to that extent, did he?
“This… This whole… Relationship, thing. Don’t get me wrong, you’re a really sweet, great guy! Very attentive to what I want, and giving but… You see. You’re a little… Clingy. For me, you know? I tend to go for guys who are really aloof and reserved. Now, while there’s nothing wrong with being in touch with your emotions, I gotta say… You’re just. Not really my type, is all? It’s totally all me, not you.” Emily explains, each word hitting harder and hurting more than the last.
“II… I see. And you want… You want to end our… Relationship because I am… attentive to your needs and wants?” Ahirom asks, trying desperately to follow her line of logic, and failing.
“Yeah, exactly! See, I like my alone time, and my ability to be independent! You getting me pretty much anything I want or need when I speak up about it, is a little frustrating? That and -. Ah. Don’t worry about it. It’s just. I don’t think it’s going to work out - and before you do your whole sob story about the two of us being soul-bound together… Here’s the thing. Is it a really cute and romantic idea? Yeah, But I really, really don’t believe that it’s a thing that actually happens to people.” Emily continues, shrugging her shoulders and laughing a little, kicking her feet “I mean. This whole soul bonds thing is one step removed from actual soul- mate stuff, which is actual horse shit. In part because souls don’t really exist! The entire concept of souls and soul bonds probably came from some nutso religion to try to control the masses. I don’t believe in any of that crap. So, this has been a fun experience, you were great, the sex was awesome, but I’m bored now, so-“
She paused for several long eternities.
Ahirom wished that he could find something, anything to say that might convince her to let him stay. All that he could try to come out of his mouth was a tiny whimper, as tears ran hot and fast down his face. His hearts were shattered, and his soul was screaming in pain as his mind scrambled to try to figure out what he might have done wrong. Her words were devastating, and had wholly robbed him of the ability to speak.
Emily actually looked over at them for a couple of moments, hers brown eyes shining with mirth and amusement - as if she were utterly unaware of the absolute emotional devastation she was putting him through. “Jeeez! You’ve already started blubbering and crying, aren’t you? That’s so cringe. I told you from the outset that I don’t do serious romantic relationships! That if we were going to be together that it was going to need to stay light and fun. If you got too invested into this, it’s your fault, not mine. I’ll give you the rest of the day to pack your stuff, and be out of here. This is my apartment, you’re not on the lease, and I don’t want you anymore. So just… Go away.”
“I… I… Are… Are you sue about this?” Ahirom manages to croak out, though the words are immensely difficult to get out, as his broken hearts are lodged at the back of his throat, making talking or even breathing immensely difficult.
“Yeah, I’m sure. I’ve known for a couple of weeks that I’ve started to get bored of this relationship. Again, you’ve been a really sweet guy, and all of my friends love you, my family thinks you’re great… It’s just… With you there, it’s no longer just what’s going on with me and my life, you know? They’re also wanting to include you in everything too and that means that the spotlight isn’t just on me, so I just… Need to not share that attention, you know? So. Yeah. I know that they aren’t great reasons to break up with someone, but they are mine. I’m not going to be talked out of it - do you really think that you’re the first astartes to go all moon-eyed over me? Nah. You’re the third one this year, actually. I don’t know what it is about me that attracts you giant, gorgeous but clingy fellas to me, but none of you can seem to resist me~! It’s super flattering in its own way, but I’m done with this now.”
Emily reaches over and pushes at his shoulder a little, as if she’s trying to get him to move off the couch. She normally wouldn’t have the strength to do so, but the absolute shock of her request - and the reasoning behind it, have him reeling and off-balance enough to have Ahirom stumbling down to the floor, a wounded sound leaving him.
“I…. I see. As you seem to be… Resolute in this… I will… I shall… I shall leave.” Ahirom responds, his hearts cracking and bleeding in agony as he staggers towards the bedroom that he and Emily had shared for months together. It takes him a couple of hours to pack, because his tears keep making it difficult for him to see anything.
When he finally emerges, Emily is looking at him again, a vaguely irritated expression on her face, as she jiggles one of her feet impatiently “Are you going to go yet, or what? You’ve been dragging your feet on this for long enough. Get out of my home.”
"I... I am. It took me time as I am mourning our relationship. as this is quite a shock and emotional blow for me." Ahirom explains. He won't beg on his knees for her, but only because she's made it abundantly clear that she has no care for him. Perhaps she never did. The thought makes his hearts ache worse. He'd messaged a dear friend of his, asking if he could crash at his and his bonded's place for a couple of days. While he could go to one of the bases, he really didn't want to interact with more people than he absolutely had to,
