the trajectory of whimsy's spirit across lives, by my understanding:
group alpha (lives 1, 2, 3, 4) this group of lives includes the origin of whimsy (life 1), and is defined by an angel's blessing allowing cats to speak like humans. cats in this world are essentially the same as those of our own, and interact with humans in about the same way; they also develop social structures of their own and live together in feline colonies when stray/feral, usually living in semi-wild areas like city parks.
group beta (lives 5, 6, 7) this group of lives is defined by an angel's blessing allowing cats to speak and walk like humans. cats in this world are what we would call anthros or furries, and live among humans; they are still treated somewhat like pets on account of being visibly feline, which grants them care and protection while also limiting many of their personal freedoms, and they also form feline colonies when stray/feral.
group gamma (lives 8, 9) this group of lives includes my own (life 9), is defined by an angel's blessing allowing cats to speak, walk, and look like humans. cats in this world, despite continuing to exhibit feline behavior, are essentially indistinguishable from humans, and thus are thought to be humans themselves; there are boons to being practically human, but these cats also long for their past feline lives where they were treated like pets and where they could form feline colonies more readily when they were stray/feral.
