would you do petre little jack baker & cg marguerite...? maybe ? it can be whatever I'd just like it (also would like to be anonymous if it doesn't work right)
(also more context if you don't know them well; jack and marguerite are (before the mold which is what I was thinking 4 this) just a nice older Southern married couple + jack has some implied (?) trauma issues . it's not clear but that's why I think this could be nice for him)
Its implied that the family has some background in the military, so I think Jack might have served at one point and may have developed trauma from it, thus leading to the need to regress. I think he slowly grew into the idea after seeing how animals get pampered and coddled by their owners, and desiring it for himself.
Marguerite being a sweet lady, and wishing to help her husband would oblige, even if its reluctant. They were old, and still had their older views, and acting like a pet or kid was something both of them would have to work towards slowly, but truly, Marguerite didn't mind being a mama again.
Jack opened up slowly, late at night, early morning, peaceful afternoons. He would say things along the lines of wishing he could 'go back in time' or 'wishing he could be at peace internally'. The more he mentioned it, the more Marguerite got worried. He didn't want her worrying, but he also didn't quite have enough courage yet.
He looked at Lucas' old baby things, they'd kept some as fond memories. He wondered what it would be like, to be as free and clueless as a child. No stress. No trauma. No old aching bones. They had a dog once too, and managed to find its things as well. He'd sneak off, and let himself feel like whatever he wanted to be. He hated being secretive, but just couldn't bring himself to tell her. Not yet.
Marguerite knew something was really off, and confronted him one day about it. Not harshly, just worried. Jack had finally opened up about what he had been feeling. He longed to feel like a kid again, or to be pampered like a dog would. Marguerite was shocked, but listened carefully. When Jack was done, she held him in her arms, rubbed his back, and for the first time, he let himself let go around her.
Both of them were navigating this newfound relationship. Jack managed to get most everything off his chest, so Marguerite was working on how to best help him. Whenever Jack brought her something, she'd call him a good boy, which made his heart swell. He enjoyed cuddling with her more often now, and he was very eager to help her with things.
Marguerite saw how happy Jack was, and it warmed her heart too. She enjoyed caring for someone again, and dearly loved her husband. Things were much livelier and happier in their house, now that Jack didnt feel like he had to hide. He also tried getting outside more, and even if he couldn't run around and chase his tail, he could enjoy the feeling of freedom nonetheless.
Jack managed to find things he could do. Minor yardworking, fetching things, messing with Lucas' toys or old projects, and Marguerite watched or even engaged with him. After a long day, Jack loved curling into her lap while watching tv. Sometimes, Marguerite would even read a book to him, and he'd almost fall asleep right there, and she'd have to shake him awake and remind him to get to bed.
He still had nightmares, still had bad reactions to things, still felt scared. When he got like that, he'd hide under the covers, or whine to be in Marguerites arms. She held him close, and try to say whatever she could to calm him. Sometimes he would even suck his thumb, or have something to bite on. Marguerite didn't mind. She was just happy he wasn't hiding his pain anyone.
Honestly? They couldn't be better. Jack enjoyed being a dog, child, or whatever else he felt like for the day, and Marguerite enjoyed having someone to care for again. Its not perfect, of course, Jack still has his trauma, Marguerite has her own, but they're working through it, together. Truly, things were perfect for the Bakers. That was, until Eveline came along...
