@/savoirflair: On #EarthDay, it's crucial to recognize that the guardians of our planet are its indigenous peoples, who have historically maintained biodiversity and preserved natural resources through deep-rooted practices and ancestral wisdom. There is no climate justice without human rights, and we cannot celebrate our planet without honoring its original and eternal custodians. Without the stewardship of indigenous populations like the Palestinians, our environmental efforts are incomplete. Their resilience and ongoing struggle underline that Earth Day is not only a call for environmental action but also for justice and the recognition of the rights of indigenous guardians who have nurtured the land for centuries.

Until Death Do Us Part, Thomas Sauvin
Collection of Chinese photographs from bulks of discarded 35mm negatives found in a garbage dump near Beijing. The photos feature a dying Chinese wedding custom, which involves brides lighting cigarettes to engage in 'smoking games' with the groom. The images, which were captured between 1985 to the early 2000s, led to the archival project that preserves ordinary moments of citizensâ lives in history. The photos are now sold as a collection in a pocket-sized photobook, Until Death Do Us Part, which comes in a real package of Chinese cigarettes that are commonly used at weddings, known as Double Happiness Cigarettes.
Photobook can be purchased here.
As a queer Christian, Iâve struggled a LOT the past few years with my church family. I donât want to be a part of a body of my brothers and sisters who are disgusted by me, you know? So Iâve wanted a new church for a while now, but I just never started looking. I live in the Bible Belt, Iâm never going to be able to find an accepting church, right? It felt overwhelming. I didnât know how to even START looking. And I know a lot of other people, whether LGBTQ or allies, find themselves in the same situation. Thatâs why I wanted to share THIS WEBSITE I found. It has a directory of (currently) 8,340 LGBTQ+ Affirming church congregations around the globe. I even found one, in my preferred denomination, only 20 minutes away from me. PLEASE spread this, I know I needed it, and other people might too.

Another good website is Church Clarity. It only has churches in the U.S. but theyâre constantly updating their info and adding new churches.

i just wanna say thatâŚthere is a special spot in hell reserved for people who go to places where poverty stricken families are likely to show upâŚlike say, the food bank, or the food stamp officeâŚand leave religious tracts disguised as 100 dollar bills on the ground.Â
Godâs not going to reward you for taunting and shaming the poor. In fact Iâm pretty certain being uncharitable is one of those things that got you smiteâd in the old testament.Â
hey an update to this, you also go to hell if you leave these as tips for your servers. It counts as deception, defrauding, dishonesty, being uncharitable, being high-minded (haughty, arrogant), withholding the truth, and if we wanted to get real deep at the soul, HYPOCRISY, because youâre chastising them for a âlove of moneyâ when you love and hoard your money so hard you couldnât even part with a dollar tip and instead left fake money to trick them while you make your escape you shifty fuck.
Hey actually I have one MORE thing to say and thatâs this: If youâre dropping this specific tract at places where poor families are likely to be, that adds an extra layer of shittiness to an already shitty thing to do. Like on top of the fact that youâre raunting poor people with fake money, the fact that you have the absolute gall to use Christs words about the rich is utterly fucking appalling, because you dropped it in a place you know no rich people are gonna be. The people that pick these up arenât rich, and you know it. They donât pick them up out of greed, and you know it. Thatâs WHY you dropped them in the parking lot of a food stamp office, a grocery store in a poor part of town, a food bank, the free clinic. It was to ensure someone who desperately needs money would see it and pick it up, so you could then chastise them for greed. Youâd better haul ass to Church buddy because every time you drop one of these you wrack up a receipt of sins longer than my arm.
I hate these things.
I hate the people who make âem.
And especially those who do shit like this.
A friend of my got revenge on a church that did this. He used to work at a Dennyâs in a tiny little town. And every Sunday after church, theyâd have families coming in to eat. And leaving these shitty things around, instead of tips. Only the church was leaving their information on them, church name, address, etc. So my friend gathered a whole bunch of these up from other servers who had gotten them. And one Sunday, he went to services at the church, and left them all in the offering plate when it came around.
I hate this so much. Thatâs literally the opposite of what Jesus told us to do, you morons. What part of feed the hungry cure the sick and sell everything you have and give to the poor confused you?Â
When Actual Christianity is too inconvenient bc your real god is capitalism
The Black students of MSD High in Parkland have finally been given the chance to speak out and surprise! They disagree with the platform being pushed by their white peers. Their flags are things weâve (Black people online) been saying for weeks. Advocating for more police in schools and for a stronger police force is Shitty for Students of Color, particularly BLACK STUDENTS.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/29/us/parkland-school-black-students-trnd/index.html
I also want to add that while the nonblack student leaders at the front have been trying to be âintersectionalâ and give voices to Black kids affected by gun violence, the Black kids in their very own space went largely ignored. These Black students donât have the clout or organizational connections to be put on a national stage and they are now asking to be listened to. Their voices are valuable as Black students directly affected by BOTH school shooting violence AND police brutality/state violence.
