Description
Morty Smith is a recent newcomer to the area, or more specifically, to this dimension. The entire backstory is pretty complicated, with his grandpa being a drunk, mad scientist who has taken the entire family on different insane adventures throughout different dimensions and universes, some good and some really bad. Morty was always the easiest to get to tag along, so Rick was always pulling him out of class and bringing him with, typically because he wanted to use him for help or just to do the dirty work for him. Morty had been putting up with it for years now, between having to move to new dimensions because he or his grandpa screwed something up beyond repair, or even having to kill others to save their own asses. Morty isnât proud of a lot of the things heâs had to do to survive with Rick, and the longer it went on, the more it pushed him to separate himself finally.Â
Morty has dreamed for years to find a place where his Rick, or any other Rick for that matter, would never go to find him, somewhere he could be off the grid and make a life for himself without his family bringing him down and making him feel small. In order to go through with it, the first step was to steal an unregistered portal gun while Rick was drunk one night. Once he did that, he left a note for Rick and another for his parents and sister, and Morty was off to his new life â which brings us here.
Headcanons
Morty didnât exactly have a plan beyond stealing the portal gun. He was willing to go through the bullshit of jumping through different dimensions until he found the right one, so it did take a lot of failed attempts to end up here. This dimension was the first seemingly normal one he landed in, so heâs sticking with it for now unless he thinks Rick would somehow find him.
Once heâs settled in, the more people he meets here, the more he will make connections and see what sort of universe this really is, making connections of the different characters and how theyâre all based on shows or movies from other universes. 4th wall breaking king in the making
The first people he meets here are none other than the Pines twins, who are the perfect duo to introduce him to this place and help him begin his new journey. He has yet to realize though, that he already knows someone who lives in this dimension, a beautiful girl named Alice heâs met a few times on past adventures. He also has yet to realize that she is based on Alice in Wonderland.Â
For now, heâs just going to be crashing at a motel until he figures his shit out, heâs not exactly in a rush.
Heâs soo awkward and anxious but heâs working on it! Getting away from Grandpa Rick and everyone else will hopefully help. When Mortyâs not anxious and awkward he can actually be really charming and a cool guy, he just needs a confidence boost sometimes to remind him of that
Morty didnât go to college because he missed way too much damn school from adventures, barely graduating high school but still getting that diploma (Câs get degrees in Mortyâs case). Heâs always felt pretty lost career-wise, but at least now he can start fresh and do whatever the hell he wants.
He has a lot of trauma from some of the shit heâs seen, which could actually be significantly worse considering his grandpa has erased a lot of his memories over the years (sometimes because Morty asked him to, and sometimes just because Rickâs an asshole). It doesnât help that his parents were also pretty shit, and both his mom and grandpa are alcoholics. So if he wasnât getting shit from Rick, he sure was getting it too from either his parents or Summer.
Now that heâs on his own his goals are: find himself, chill, play some video games, and hopefully be happy. Anyone who disturbs that will have to see Mortyâs bad side, which definitely comes out when heâs been pushed too far. Heâs not an asshole, but he has spent many years around one, so he knows how to be an asshole when necessary.
