Storyville - Defying the Cutting Season

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) has been illegal in Tanzania since 1998. But every year thousands of families still plan to have their daughters cut, an ordeal that could cost them their lives. The ‘Cutting Season’ takes place during the December school holidays.

During this time hundreds of girls are saved from FGM by the police, the government and the work of the Safe House. It is run by Rhobi Samwelly, who was herself a victim of FGM, and now, not only does she valiantly run the safe house but she also works with the local police to rescue and protect girls at risk while arresting the parents and cutters.

But they have a tough and dangerous job and old customs die hard. Men believe that girls must be cut to reduce promiscuity and cut girls command twice the bride price in cows as uncut girls. Girls like Rosie, just 12 years old, have had to make the most difficult choices of their young lives - run away from home, not knowing if they will ever see their families again, or submit to female genital mutilation and child marriage.

These brave and courageous young girls are fighting against a tradition that goes back thousands of years. They are standing up for their human rights and fighting for change in their community.

This project had something to do with education. She also quit her job and has since found a new one! She is very focused on her own self and well-being and is removing things from her life that made her unhappy. Her old job had to do with children some how and though she loved the kids, she didn’t like her boss (Relatable). So she had to move on. This new job is very serious. She is working with delicate information. Unhappy people. Unhappy families and children. (P2)

She doesn’t hold a role in this organization where she can enact change and that frustrates her, but she is taking as much as she can from the experience. She was going to move in March eastward (My friend said it was hot to cold, so I guess from a warm place to a cold place) but receiving this job stopped her. She is repairing relationships and strengthening her current ones. My friend did a reading on FD last summer and said there was zero paternal energy, now there is a bit not a lot (P3)

The paternal energy fluctuates. She is trying to take better care of herself. Eating better, working out, etc. but she’s struggling (again, relatable lol). No romantic love right now! Focusing on herself and bettering herself. She is just getting out of a really dark time so she is trying to live life to the fullest! I remember my friend saying her energy or aura is very warm and inviting. People naturally gravitate towards her. She is easy to fall in love with. Easy to take advantage of. (P4)

She has a way with children & wayward people. My friend can’t tell what she looks like but she said not to expect a fairy princess. She isn’t glamorous with style but she is with how she walks about the world (idk what that means but her words). Those that have been studying FD will know her when they see her though. Her spirit is very distinctive. She values life and takes people how they are, like our position or net worth doesn’t mean much to her. What can you give her heart matters more (P5)

She is not an obsessive person. she values her space and time. She can make you feel like the most important person in the world then discard you a second later, she doesn’t know she has this power. Very spiritual. Umm.. I think that’s it. Oh! She knows she is meant to do something grand in this life. She has divine purpose. My friend said something important that I’m going to mess up (apologies): Many people think that FD is getting the shorter end of the stick, but she’s not. (P6)

MM is making a way for FD. If not for PH, then for the world to receive her (she believes for PH and BRF though). Because she would be with PH, someone not in direct line to the throne, she has the room to do what Kate can’t as future queen consort. Remember, FD is a woman that doesn’t value position. (I can’t remember why that was important to remember ahh!) Anyway she will uplift PH to the person he could be/is supposed to be. Through PH, she will uplift those around her rich and poor (P7)

Numbers to remember are 7, 3, and 24. Idk why lol sorry. She said FD is preparing herself for the world stage, unbeknownst to her. Her work in this life is beyond PH, but it is destined they will meet. Beyond that is up to them. She also said the time of the meeting will play a huge role in whether a relationship of any capacity will how. She will find herself in London this year or next year. I think that’s it!
