(1) It is ridiculous how the quality of writing differs between anything to do with Boba or Fennec and anything to do with Mando, Cobb Vanth, or fan favorites that will definitely grab views such as Grogu.

(a) The time that I've felt like the quality of writing surrounding Boba went up was when you could clearly hear Temuera Morrison's voice behind the script [Episode 2]. I was willing to give the writing a chance at the start but the fact is it's genuinely starting to look like Fennec is the only one who knows how to do things while Boba is filled with naivety which seems like a strange mischaracterization (not to mention how it feels like they're just turning Fennec into Exposition Central like damn)

if you choose to wear hijab in solidarity, please make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons

our hijabs are not tools to make political statements or to show others how progressive you see yourself

the hijab, for many, can be a deeply spiritual aspect of outward and inward faith - be respectful

not all muslim women wear hijab. remember to support them as well

there are places where the hijab is enforced and places where it is banned. both of these situations impede on a woman’s right to choose for herself

many hijabis in western countries often fight for the right to wear it, even fighting their own families at times

the hijab in many places can make you a target. exercise caution and remember that this is a daily reality for many

hijab can often be a nuanced discussion within the muslim community - you’ll find many different opinions and it’s not up to you to decide which is right or wrong

hijab can be expressed in many different ways across many different cultures, and it’s all beautiful!

remember the places where hijab is banned for women, and uplift the voices of those having a government forcibly undress them

each hijabi has a complex relationship and history with the hijab, and each is valid

So the cost of printing is currently at an all-time high and Amazon and Ingram Spark will not let you sell at a loss. I priced the paperbacks of Phangs as low as I could and still afford to go to print.

Out of that $14.99 price tag, I make roughly a dollar. A dollar ninety-five, depending on the conversion rate. I pay my editors, my illustrator(s), my formatter, my designer, and theoretically myself (ha) out of those one-dollar sales (though mostly I fund the production out of ebook sales). Everything else goes to the printer. Ingram Spark also takes an up front fee of about $50 for file processing, unlike Amazon which is free. So in case you’ve ever wondered why some people only go through Amazon, that is also a factor.

As an indie author, I will never turn a profit on paperbacks without significantly increasing the price, but I make them because people ask for them. I'm sorry if you think they are unfairly priced, but there's nothing I can do to make the price lower without making negative money. I am selling them as close to "at cost" as is possible, but unfortunately I don’t control inflation or print costs.

Remember when #UnwhitewashTBB all first started? When all I had was a poorly designed carrd and a million anons helping me build it? When there were people who were detailing some of their more unsavory memories in replies and reblogs to help me round out the carrd? We've certainly come far since then: a survey, a petition, emails AND letters sent out, as well as more and more people every day made aware of Whitewashing and other forms of racism in Star Wars.

Remember how primarily white fans reacted? How many of were called aggressive, bullies, liars, overreacting--how many of us are already stereotyped in our day to day lives? Remember the swift denials the racism, the speaking over people of color, the violent antisemitism, the dismissal of ableism by able bodied and neurotypical people? Remember when people such as myself and people whom I've never met kept getting harrased?

I don't want a repeat of that. We all have a right to be here. We've come very far. I've met lots of new people and made a good deal new friendships. I learned a lot about myself, about disability rights and politics, about antisemitism, and about racism in other forms. I know many people learned some more about these things, too.

We are not the land of Lilo and Stitch. We are not a paradise.

We are a nation suffering.

There are only around 600,000 Native Hawaiians left. Only around 200,000 of them live in Hawai’i.

Hawai’i has the second largest homeless population in the nation, falling just behind New York. There are 19 million people in New York. Hawaii only has 1.4 million people. Yet their homeless rates are neck and neck. A majority of those experiencing homelessness in Hawai’i are Native Hawaiian.

Tourism destroys sacred land. Mountains are moved to make room for telescopes. People live in tiny concrete apartments that cost $2k a month because the rich move to the islands to carve their own paradise. My people spend every night praying we can afford to eat the next day

The Navy poisons the water over and over. They lie and say it’s safe. People fall ill. Then they dump the waste into the ocean and promise to do better. They lie.
