Hey! I noticed that you have 夜刀神 romanized as yatogami but didn't one of the earlier chapters (ch5) has it pronounced as やとのかみ in one of the dialogues?
That was probably my (Nohr rep) fault. I was unfamiliar with the sword’s name.
夜刀 is “yato” or “night sword” and 神 is “kami” or “god” but due to grammar reasons, kami->gami. So, yatogami.
As for why I mistakenly thought it was yato-no-kami…well, in order to get the correct kanji (夜刀神), I have to type “やとのかみ”. And I was aware before that yato-no-kami are from Japanese folklore…but I didn’t realize that their name is written 夜刀の神. Which would read as yato–no-kami…
I hope I didn’t confuse you, sorry about that.
Well, I feel incredibly stupid. After a year and a half of owning this game, I JUST realized that anon here was correct. The reason I had to type やとのかみ was because the sword is actually pronounced Yatonokami. And it took playing Touken Ranbu to figure it out, lol.
I’ll be fixing those in all of our translations...I’m going to write it as Yato-no-Kami, which is how the names of Japanese gods are sometimes written.
The reason for this mistake of mine is that Japanese sword names are often ateji, which are irregular readings of kanji. I suck at names, so I derped. 夜刀 would normally be pronounced yatou anyways, with the long vowel.
