Some things didnât need to be said between the two of us. Chicago was⌠a bad memory for the both of us and yet, every day was a reminder of it. We were both trying to heal from these events and yet, we never talked through it, always finding another topic or doing some other activity.
I donât know if Debbie didnât know or just didnât care at the moment about my sleepovers at the Grayson residence almost every night, I didnât care.
At nights we werenât there, we were at my house, and my parents didnât care, they thought Mark was sent from the heavens above.
So there we laid, legs tangled together, both our arms hugging each otherâs waists, as the hand that laid on my stomach intertwined with mine. My head rested on the boyâs chest as he sat a little more upwards than me, both of us focused on the tv at the foot of the bed.
âDo you ever think...â He starts, voice gentle as ever.
âAs we grow up, we become more and more like our parents?â He questions, and I know exactly what heâs getting at. A long pause takes over and it would be silent if it werenât for the quiet murmurs of the tv.
âI used to be exactly like my parentsâ I answered finally.
âThey dedicated their lives to bettering our cityâ My heart swelled at the memories of Auloria.
âBut that doesnât mean that they came without faultsâ I added on, intertwining my empty hand with his.
âI think itâs a balance of nature and nurtureâ I ran my fingers across the boyâs knuckles now.
âI donât know what kind of person I wouldâve been if I hadnât left Auloriaâ I shrugged slightly.
âBut because I landed here, and was immediately met with kindness by the people who would become my adoptive parents, William, Eve...â I tilted my head to look up at the boy.
âAnd youâ I could see the corners of his mouth turn upwards slightly.
âMy personality changed just a bitâ I adjusted myself to rest on my forearms now, resting the palm of one of my hands on the boyâs chest.
âYouâre like your father in some ways, sureâ I started.
âBut you also werenât raised on Viltrumâ My head shook slightly, Mark's hand resting on top of mine now.
âYou have empathy for these people- your peopleâ I paused.
"In another world, maybe you joined your father and maybe you even enjoyed it" My gaze faltered just a bit.
"But in this one, you knew what the right decision was" I cupped the boy's cheek now and watched him lean into my touch.
âAs long as you remember who you are, and that you have people you can rely on, you wonât become your fatherâ I finished, watching tears well up in the boyâs eyes.
Both of us searched the otherâs eyes for a moment before Mark moved quickly, pulling me on top of him, holding me like I would disappear at a momentâs notice.
âI love you, y/nâ He whispered out through sniffles.
âThank youâ He added on.
âI love you too Markâ I pulled back to look him in the eyes.
âAlways remember thatâ He nodded slightly in response.

As we listened to the tape, I tried hard to continue my focus on the voice. It was an explanation of the directions to assassins. The voice spoke on how payment was electronic, and visual proof was needed to prove that a hit had been completed.
None of us knew what wire transfer was, and we didnât know why someone would go through the trouble of making a list like this.
Scott thought for a moment, then started packing up the money.
âWoah, woah, what are you doing?â Stiles started panicking. Scott then explained that it was getting late, and we had a psat to take in the morning.
My brother tried to keep the conversation going with how much money it was.
âWell we still have to talk to Peterâ Scott tried.
âAnd Derek and Lilyâ Stiles gestured to me.
âThe money isnât mineâ I shook my head.
âAll five hundred dollars are Peterâsâ All of us made a face.
âOkay, so maybe we should proceed with cautionâ Stiles reasoned, then started listing all the things wrong with the man.
âWhat are you saying?â I whispered before we all heard footsteps and panicked, trying to hide the money.
The door swung open and there stood a damp Malia, telling us that they found Satomiâs pack, but all the ones they found were dead.
-
I stood against the lockers, staring down at the floor as I heard a faint conversation from my friends.
âProvide for me and Lilyâ I heard Scottâs voice more clearly as his hand snaked around my waist.
I instinctively placed my arm around the boy as well and nodded my head in agreement.
âItâs three hours. We can survive three hoursâ I heard Kira say as Scott turned to me making a face. I nodded my head slightly and gave him a smile before we were called into the testing room.
We had to place our fingerprints onto the book, then take a pen and paper, give away our cell phones, then sit down.
I sat behind my mate and next to my brother as everybody else filed in until the man up front started speaking his directions.
âYou may now open your test booklets and beginâ I saw Scottâs arm reach behind himself as I reached forwards to give his a squeeze.
âGood luckâ I whispered into his ear, then sat back into my seat.
I started reading the paper and felt good with how much my brain was working until a thud fell on the floor. Sydney had fallen, and Ms. Martin seemed alarmed at a mark on the girlâs arm.
She made sure to tell the proctor that nobody would be leaving the room, then took her phone and left. Stiles and I gave each other a look.
âI think she found somethingâ I whispered to the boys.
âHer heart rate is going crazy, sheâs scared and-â I got cut off by the woman yelling outside the classroom. We all jumped out of our seats to see the commotion, but was ushered inside, reassured that everything was okay.
We all went back inside until a voice rang in my head.
âI need the number of the CDCâ Ms. Martin asked as Scott and My heads snapped towards each other.
-
Soon enough, a bunch of men in Yellow hazmat suits arrived and started setting up in unoccupied classrooms.
Scott took my hand and led me to Ms. Martin, who was helping Sydney get settled in a tent. She explained that nothing should be wrong then left the room. Scott tried to calm the girl with her injuries, but she was more worried about the test.
âWith something as crazy as thisâ I paused and placed my hand on the girlâs leg.
âThey have to let you take it againâ She smiled with a hopeful look as me and Scott left the room.
âDadâs probably hereâ I leaned into Scott a little bit.
âYou think I should call him?â I questioned towards the boy.
âIâm sure Stiles already hasâ He reassured me.
The boyâs movements then slowed down, and he gripped onto his side before falling to the floor. I caught him by instinct before hitting the ground as he looked up at me with blaring red eyes.
âWe gotta get you out of hereâ I placed his arm over my shoulder and helped him to the locker room.
Once inside, he immediately let go of me to race to the sink while I locked the door and placed a silence spell on us. No one outside could hear in.
âScott you gotta breatheâ I rushed over to him and placed my hand on his back. His breathing slowed for a moment before a knock resounded in the air, and with it, Ms. Martinâs voice. My hands left the boy in shock as my head looked towards the noise. I then looked back at Scott to see that his fangs had come out now, and he looked to me in worry.
âItâs gonna be okay Scottâ I hugged him and smoothed down his hairâ
âWeâre gonna be okayâ I continued as my eyes flashed red briefly. I cursed myself internally as Ms. Marten went away, probably thinking that she had the wrong bathroom.
Iâm not sure how long it was before we moved to the lockers and Stiles knocked on the door.
âItâs me Lilyâ Stiles spoke.
I placed a kiss on Scottâs hairline before racing to the door to let the others in.
Scott and Malia were having trouble controlling their powers, but they couldnât just hide in the locker room.
âWe need a vaultâ Stiles spoke.
âThe Hale vaultâ Scott added, and all heads turned to me.
âI thought you were Stilesâ brotherâ Malia asked. My head panned across the room.
âI was adoptedâ I answered absentmindedly.
âIs there a way in from inside the school?â Scott asked. I nodded in reply as we all started walking towards the door. I turned back in surprise to see my brother falling to the floor, making sure to catch him.
âYouâre getting sickâ He looked to me and Kira.
âYou all areâ My eyes flashed red at that moment. Scott placed his hand on my back comfortingly.
âI donât feel sickâ Kira tried, but was shown her test answer sheet, where all her answers were slightly askew. The virus was hitting her neurologically.
âWe gotta go quickâ I made a face.
-
We all raced to the basement and I beelined for the entrance. I started moving a shelf which the boys quickly helped me with. I moved in front of the lock to open it with my powers, but only sparks flew out of my hand. I tried once more but just made myself frustrated.
âI canât do itâ I looked towards Scottâ The boys thought for a minute before eventually convincing Malia that any claws could open the door, and Scott and I didnât have control. She agreed to open the door, but only if we told her the truth.
We all knew what was going on inside of our heads but what she was worried about, was not her question.
âI know Iâm on the listâ The plan then carried on as we wanted, as she was lower on the list compared to the rest of us, and thatâs all she wanted to know.
The girl moved past us as Scott and I gave each other a look, until the door slid open and the five of us moved in.
-
Kira and I were pacing the room while Stiles held Malia and Scott hugged himself sitting down. Conversation then started while I zoned out and walked across the shelves, memories crossing my mind.
âLilyâ
âLilyâ A hand reached out to me. I turned around to see the boy looking back at me.
âCan you hear anything outside?â He questioned, as I tried for a moment.
âYeahâ I replied, as him, Stiles, and I walked towards the door.
âTheyâre looking for usâ I whispered as the boys looked to me.
âWe have to send somebody out thereâ We all looked back at the girls lying on the floor. The three of us then went into an argument about how we should tell Malia the truth.
âAs someone who WAS Malia at some pointâ I glanced at the girl.
âI wouldâve wanted to knowâ Stiles gave me a sorry look.
âI should goâ I spoke to the boys.
âWhat? Noâ
âNo wayâ Both boys spoke at the same time.
âThis is an assassinâs workâ Scott spoke.
âYouâre the highest on the listâ Stiles added.
âBut Iâm also affected the least out of all of usâ My eyes glowed red for a moment.
âIâm a hybrid. Iâm stronger than I used to beâ Both boys looked to each other in disbelief.
âI died and came back to lifeâ I tried.
âIf that doesnât show resiliency, I donât know what doesâ Stiles thought for a moment before hugging me tightly.
âStay safeâ He whispered.
âAlwaysâ I squeezed him tightly.
âToo tight, too tightâ He pushed away from me and gave me another small hug before walking away.
âYou have to come back to meâ Scott whispered. I could see that tears were welling in his eyes.
âI willâ I placed my hand on his cheek.
âI promiseâ He pushed his forehead into mine.
âI just got you backâ One of his tears fell onto my face. I tilted my chin up to give him a kiss, before walking towards the door turning back to see it close and keep my friends safe.
-
I rushed to find anyone, and found Ms. Martin, trying to find Mr. Yukimura. He said that he was okay and helping other students. I started to walk away until I noticed coach. He was the only adult that got sick today. Us and him.
I made my way to his office, trying to find anything that wouldâve connected all of us. It took some scrounging until I noticed all the stamped papers, and the ink on his mug. The inkpad. Our fingerprints. My instincts told me to stand up as I was met with a man. Our proctor.
âI was wondering how he got sickâ He chuckled.
âI was also wondering where your friends areâ I started fiddling with his pistol.
âYou could say Iâm greedy. But I want more than just the illusiveâ He took a step forward.
âLilian Haleâ He pointed his gun towards me.
âIf Iâm right, you should be as strong as me nowâ He urged me to walk in front of him.
âBut I have a gunâ He pushed the gun against the back.
âSo Iâm strongerâ
âThis virus isnât meant to kill a humanâ He paused.
âOr a hybridâ We stopped walking.
âSo why donât you tell me where your friends areâ I spoke some fib while my eyes glowed red for a moment.
âIâm going to count to three, then Iâm going to kill youâ I turned around slowly.
âYou really need the money that bad? Enough to kill some innocent kids?â I questioned.
âOhâ He chuckled.
âNone of you are innocentâ He placed the barrel against my forehead as my frustration grew untimely.
I grabbed the pistol from his hands and swung my leg under his to knock him to the floor, then aimed the weapon at him.
âYouâre not gonna kill meâ He teased. A gunshot then rung in the air, and his body fell fully to the floor.
I looked up at the office doorway to see Mr. McCall standing there.
âWhat?â I whispered as he gently took the gun out of my hands and explained to me about a cure. It should be in a jar in the vault.
-
I raced to the basement and started banging on the door. I still couldnât open the door.
âShitâ I stood back and placed my hands in front of me. The heartbeats inside of the room were slowing down, getting louder. I closed my eyes and focused. I didnât die for nothing.
I opened my eyes to see a drop of blood fall onto my hands. My nose was bleeding. I groaned out in frustration and pain as a portal finally opened in between my hands and I expanded it to step inside of the vault.
âLily?â Scott whispered out. My head snapped towards him in worry.
âWeâre gonna be okayâ I climbed up the shelf to find the jar and shattered it onto the ground, creating relief for everyone.
I raced over to Scott and held his face in my hands as his breathing mellowed out and I could see his vision clearing. His hand reached for my cheek and I smiled slightly.
âI told you Iâd come backâ He chuckled slightly before hugging me tightly. I looked out of the corner of my eye to see Malia walking away. She read the paper. She knew she was a Hale.
âWhat? Why?â My head snapped to his. We had to get Brett to Deaton soon if he was going to recover. Scottâs eyes skipped over mine to Stiles.
âIâm going with Brettâ I stated.
âLilyâ Stiles tried.
âIf weâre going to have any chance of finding out whoâs behind the list, you gotta stay hereâ Stiles avoided any fast movements as Derek arrived to help the boy.
âI-â I opened my mouth to argue, but I knew the boys were right.
âFineâ I made a face and didnât resist as Scott pulled me into a hug, trying to block my eyesight from a hurting Brett.
The police department soon arrive and with them, Agent McCall. The father, son duo had a talk before Liam and I approached the younger, soon learning that Violet and Garrett werenât just responsible for hit list murders. They were responsible for dozens of other murders along the west coast.
-
After school hours, Scott and I decided to check out Garrettâs locker, trying to see if we could find any clues: a form of communication, a note, a letter, a duffle bag full of money.
Garrett had blood money. Inside of his locker. Inside of the school. Scott and I looked at each other with a look but said very little as we ended up at the boyâs house, tucking the cash under his bed.
Scott insisted that I spend the night, worried that Garrett might want revenge for hurting Violet, despite my reassurance that everything would be okay.
âAre you sure?â I paced the boyâs bathroom worriedly.
âNow please go to bed because I promise that I have everything under controlâ Derek whined. I looked towards the door that led to where Scott was before speaking.
âLily?â A beat of silence passed.
âYeahâ I replied back.
âGood nightâ Derek sang. I waited another moment before sighing.
âGood night Derekâ I paused.
âBut if I find out that youâre lying to me, you will regret itâ I hung up quickly then waited a moment before heading towards Scott.
âWhat is it?â I walked in to see the boy staring towards the ground, sitting at the end of the bed.
âNothingâ Scottâs head snapped towards mine and I made a face at his answer.
âItâs justâ He thought for a moment, causing me to sit down next to him.
âYou know what we could do with this money? How many problems we could solve?â He questioned hypothetically.
âI knowâ I tried to empathize.
âBut itâs not our moneyâ I reasoned.
âNoâ Scott looked up from his hands.
âItâs not my money. Itâs yoursâ I made a face.
âScottâ I started before he could interrupt.
âAll my money is in a trust fund that no one can accessâ I explained.
âMy mother never left any information on it. I just know it existsâ I shrugged.
âWhat?â Scott now made a face.
âThis money is Peterâsâ I gestured towards the bag.
âWho else would hide bonds in the vaultâ I made a face. Scott groaned out. I donât know if that answer made him relieved or more worried.
âI thinkâ I crawled onto the boyâs lap placing my arms around his neck, trying to provide him some comfort.
âWe tell Stiles, and we go from thereâ I started playing with the hairs on the back of his neck.
âTell no one until thenâ I shook my head slightly. Scott blew air from his lips and leaned forwards to press his forehead against mine.
âI missed youâ He spoke after a moment.
âI love youâ He whispered against my lips.
âI love you tooâ I replied and smiled into the kiss that came soon after.
-
The next day arrived quickly. Scott and I traveled to school together then separated after realizing that a certain beta was missing.
I spent time trying to convince Mason that Liam was okay and that he shouldnât worry, to no avail.
It wasnât until I got a call from Chris Argent that I became worried at Scottâs whereabouts.
âWhy didnât you say anything?â I questioned as the boy noticed my arrival.
âI didnât want to worry youâ The both of us made a face when Deaton explained that he would have to pull the foreign object out of his stomach.
The alpha then went on to explain that it was Kate and the Berserkers, but it was extremely difficult to find or hurt them. Luckily, however, the claw that was previously in Scottâs stomach would be able to help us. I was able to track it.
I eventually led us to an old Argent Arms International building, then tried to convince Argent that maybe he should sit out, but he answered by bringing out an AR.
We made our way inside of the building quickly and quietly, keeping our senses dialed up to ensure our safety.
âYou shouldnât have comeâ Kateâs voice rang out. Scott and I looked at each other before he spoke.
There was no point to the conversation as our questions werenât answered, and the talk ended in violence. Violet was nowhere to be found. The Berserkers started running towards us. Argent started firing his gun. It was pointless. The bullets were barely slowing them down.
They eventually got close enough that we were now fighting hand to hand. I understood Scottâs warnings now, but I wasnât the same person I was a month ago. I was faster, more powerful, better.
I had one of the berserkers on their knees in front of me, arm around itâs neck, the other hand by itâs temple, eyes glowing red.
âCall them off Kateâ The girlâs head snapped towards me. I made a face as she called the creatures to retreat. I pushed the creature towards the girl as they made their way out of the building and I heard Argent call out from beside me.
Scott arrived beside me to help him up as the man started apologizing. There was still time. We could still save Liam.
As if on cue, the beta roared in the air, causing Scott and my eyes to snap together, then to Argentâs.
âGoâ He spoke, and Scott and I started running towards the boy. I could tell his curiosity was heightened. I wasnât able to keep up with him before.
We arrived just in time. Scott caught the boyâs hand. Liam was okay, but he was still poisoned.
-
âScottâ I whispered as they boy avoided eye contact with me.
âYou canât put that kind of pressure on yourselfâ I hesitated touching him, but he closed the space between us.
âI have toâ He looked down at our clasped hands.
âFor Liam, for Stiles, for my mom, for everyoneâ His head slowly met mine.
âFor youâ I made a face.
âFineâ I huffed out.
âThen we carry this burdenâ I placed my other hand on top of his.
âTogetherâ Scott opened his mouth to disagree.
âNo excusesâ I placed a finger in front of his mouth before cupping his cheek and moving closer for a kiss.
âTogetherâ He whispered out. The door then shut from the floor below and I moved slightly to sit next to the boy, waiting for Stiles to enter.
We were telling him about the money today. Scott explained how we found it, why it wasnât my money and to that Stiles said that he wouldâve done the same thing.
âWe should probably count itâ Stiles spoke. The three of us looked at each other before silently agreeing and tipping the bag out onto the floor.
Along with the stacks of hundreds that fell out of the bag, so did a tape with the words âplay meâ on the label.
It was a miracle. No one knew why, what had happened, how I got my memories back. Scott and I kept what happened at the boathouse a secret. I was a medical mystery and as much as people wanted to know what happened, the people around me were just happy to have me back. Old me.
Even though I was dead for a few weeks, the action only stopped for a little bit. Around the same time that I came back to life, a list was created. A hit list for supernatural creatures. A list that I was on.
The Walcotts, Demarco, Carrie: all hits that had been completed. We explained to Dad what the list was and how we found it. Lydia wrote it during one of her banshee episodes. My name was the code breaker, but she only broke one third of the list- there were more names.
âWeâre thinking that the code was written before the listâ I tried to explain.
âIt wouldnât make sense for my name to be the key word and for me to be a hitâ
We didnât know how much money would be totaled from the list, but the boys had a guess. 117 million dollars. All the money stolen from the Hale Vault the night that young Derek turned into not young Derek.
âSo whoever made the list knew that I was aliveâ I added as Stiles started writing down âKâ and âMâ next to all of the numbers next of the names. Dadâs eyes widened dramatically.
âThereâs a hit on you for 22 million dollars?â My dad stood up in alarm.
âI repeat: whoever made this list knew that I wasnât deadâ I explained.
âBut no one knew that until recentlyâ Scott pointed out.
âOr so we thinkâ Stiles added.
-
Demarco: the person who delivered the keg, he potentially died because of a freshman at Beacon Hill High School. There was more than one killer. These were trained assassins.
âIâm just a little bit stressedâ My leg vibrated as I sat at my desk.
âDonât worry about itâ I spoke to Scott. The boy placed his hand on my leg and leaned in to whisper.
âPlease try to stop worrying. Iâll protect youâ He tried.
âScott. Youâre on that list tooâ I whispered back. The coach then entered the room and I pushed Scott back into his seat, trying to relax. The coach continued talking and walking around the room until he stopped at Stiles, who was looking at picture of one of the murders. It was then that he realized what the murder weapon was: a lacrosse stick. It was someone on the team.
After class, we went into coachâs office, trying to find the murder weapon, but it was going to be impossible to find. Kira thought that we should try and get the game canceled and I agreed, but Scott thought that this would be the perfect way to catch the killer red handed.
âIâm not afraidâ I looked at Scott in disbelief.
âWell I amâ I replied.
âHow about you Stiles?â I turned towards the boy. He had the same feelings as I did.
-
When we went to check on our beta, he was out int he courtyard, getting worked up, standing in front of his old team.
âYou distract the boys, weâll get Liamâ Stiles spoke.
âWhat?â I asked but he was already walking away from me. I gave Scott a face, who hesitated then started rushing towards his beta as well. I groaned and almost sunk down to the floor before running and shooing the boys away.
âHello prep studentsâ I twirled around to face them, scanning the crowd. I didnât even realize who was standing right in front of me until it was too late. I sucked in a breath before speaking again.
âLacrosse boysâ I paused. One of the boyâs eyes widened at the sight of me.
âLil?â I certain blonde boy asked. My eyes darted to the figure quickly. Brett.
âBrettâ I opened my mouth in surprise.
âI didnât know you went to Devenfordâ I furrowed my eyebrows slightly.
âYeahâ I turned back around to see the boys waiting for me as Brett trailed off.
âI have a scholarshipâ He explained simply.
âI thought you wereâ He paused for a moment, hesitating to step forward to touch me.
âDead?â I finished for him, he nodded in reply.
âFalse alarm I guessâ I could head Stiles groan behind me.
âWell, anywaysâ I forced myself to stop looking at Brett.
âWelcome to our little public schoolâ I clapped my hands together.
âHope you like itâ Stiles cleared his throat.
âLetâs have a good gameâ I started walking backwards and then turned around to race after the boys, who were heading towards the locker room.
Before I knew it, Liam was soaking and talking about how he had I.E.D. and was medicated, but didnât take it. Very nice. Scott wanted him to bail out of the game, but Liam didnât want to. We had to vaguely tell him what the concern was and he seemed like he realized something.
He didnât know who ordered the keg, but he did know who paid for it: Garrett.
-
âIâll be backâ I told the boys as I started walking towards the opposing team, felling the way my friends were confused.
âWaitâ Scott caught my wrist gently. He had been more protective lately. Territorial.
âBe carefulâ Scottâs hand traveled down to interlace with mine while his other cupped my cheek.
âItâs a high school lacrosse teamâ I made a face. I looked up to see Scottâs eyes pass over mine. He was staring at Brett.
âHeâs a family friendâ I explained.
âWe grew up togetherâ I added.
âThen how come Iâve never heard about him?â Scott stayed staring at the boy. I pecked the boy on the cheek which caught his attention, then the boy initiated a kiss, to which I accepted happily.
âCan you trust me?â I made a face.
âI doâ He promised.
âI just-â He paused.
âJust got me backâ I finished for him.
âIâll be fineâ I started walking backwards.
âEavesdrop if you want toâ I held my hands up in defeat.
âIâm not going to eavesdrop!â Scott yelled out as I turned around and finally made it to the opposing team.
Brett immediately noticed my presence and turned around.
âCan we talk?â I questioned. He looked down at my worried face and nodded, quickly pulling on the rest of his gear. I took his hand and forced him to follow me, all the way to the back of the bleachers.Â
As soon as we were out of sight, the boy pulled me into a deep hug, trying to control his emotions.
âIâm glad youâre okayâ He whispered. I pulled back and smiled slightly.
âWhat is it?â Brett looked at my worried face.
âI donât know how to tell you thisâ My eyes fluttered down to the boyâs chest for a moment.
âI donât even know if I shouldâ
âWhat is it?â My eyes shot back up to the boy. I paused for a moment.
âThereâs a hit list. A deadpool. Supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills have a price on themâ I started.
âWeâve only found a third of the list, so Iâm not sure youâre even on it, butâ I paused.
âThe chances that a born werewolf isnât is lowâ I explained.
âWhy are you telling me this now?â He questioned.
âOne of the killers, heâs on our team. We donât know who he is, but I guess I just wanted to tell you-â I fidgeted with my hands.
âJust be careful I guessâ I paused.
âPleaseâ He looked more worried for me than for him.
âOkay, yeah. I willâ He nodded.
âAre you on the list?â He asked. I nodded in reply.
âWho made it?â He questioned.
âWe donât knowâ I shrugged.
âOkayâ He spoke after a moment.
âOkayâ He said with finality this time. The Devenford coach then started barking orders to his team, causing Brettâs head to turn towards the noise.
âYou should probablyâ I gestured towards the noise.
âYeahâ He agreed.
âCan you justâ He hesitated again.
âKeep an eye on my sister?â He requested.
âOf courseâ He smiled at my reply, then headed off towards the field. I took a breath and collected myself before walking back to the sidelines, finding all the players already out on the field. For the most part, it was a normal game, just with a lot of cheap shots towards poor Liam.
Brett was a completely different person when he was out on the field. Scott and Stiles were just trying to keep Liam in check. Kira, however, was killing it, scoring a goal, but was benched for not following the play.
âYou did great Kiraâ I sat behind the girl and placed my hands on her shoulders as my eyes fluttered across the bleachers at Lori, seeing her smile and have fun with her friends- cheering on her brother.
âThanks Lilyâ
I kept watching the game from behind the girl until Brett collided with Garrett and Liam. I kept my focus on Liam, noticing how he was still intact and Scott looked back at me and spoke.
âHe missedâ I smiled at this news and let out a sigh of relief before noticing another person that collided that was no longer there: Brett. I immediately ran towards the locker room, hoping that my intuition was proven right.
I immediately noticed the medic on the floor and ran into the locker room, noticing Brett on the floor.
âBrettâ I breathed out and walked towards the boy as he jolted awake, not looking at me, but someone behind me. Next thing I know, thereâs a burning sensation along my neck and I hold on to the wire to keep it from decapitating me.
âHe said we shouldnât tryâ The girl chuckled.
âBut now Iâve got you. Iâve got the Hale Hybrid. Back from the deadâ She giggled cockily. I took a deep breath and let go of the wire with one hand, pushing an orb of energy through me with the other, forcing the girl to be pushed backwards.
She looked shocked at this and I then took her by the neck as her feet tried to place themselves on the ground and I threw her against the wall, rendering her unconscious. I tried hard to catch my breath as I looked towards Brett and lowered myself to the ground next to him.
âWhat did they do to you?â I questioned, placing my hand on his cheek.
âWolfsbaneâ He whispered out. Behind me, Scott and Stiles arrived.
âWe gotta get you to Deatonâ Scott went to the other side of him to help me lift him.

âWe need your helpâ I looked up from my book and furrowed my eyebrows at the boys.
âWhat? With what?â I questioned. The two looked at each other then back at me.
âScott bit someoneâ
âI bit someoneâ
My eyes widened at this.
âWhat?â I stood up now. Both boys looked around and tried to calm me down.
âYou bit someone?â I leaned in closer.
âYou turned someone?â I made a face and whisper yelled.
Both boys made a face then turned back to me.
âWhat do you need?â I gave in.
Scott, Stiles, Malia, Lydia, Kira, and I met by the school buses to discuss the plan, and eventually, eyes turned to me. Liam would be spending the full moon at Lydiaâs lake house. The question was, how to get him there.
Since the boy seemed to be taking a liking to me, I would be inviting him there.
âI donât know how to driveâ I pointed out.
âIâll give you a crash courseâ Lydia offered. I made a face at Scott who hesitated to place his hand into mine.
âAre we sure this is the best plan?â He asked the group. Everyone gave weary nods.
âItâs up to youâ He turned back to me.
-
And thatâs how I ended up driving Lydiaâs car through the woods, with a nervous Liam in the passenger seat, trying my best to look like I knew how to drive.
Inviting the boy to the âpartyâ was easy enough, He obviously had a little crush on me, and I just acted as usual to play along.
We arrived at the building, and I let the boy enter the room first, making sure to close the door behind me, trapping him in with my body.
âSorryâ I apologized once he turned around to give me a look of betrayal.
-
After a lengthy explanation on who and what we all were, the boy still found it hard to believe and had to go through one by one to confirm.
âWerewolfâ Scott made a face.
âWerecoyoteâ Malia nodded.
âBansheeâ Lydia made a face.
âFox?â
âKitsuneâ Kira corrected. Liam then turned around to look at me.
âWitch?â
âHybridâ I made a face and Liam turned back around to face the rest of the group. The boy then asked what Stiles was, and the answer eventually landed on human. I noticed in my peripherals that Scott was eyeing me curiously, but didnât put in the energy to turn my head.
Liam tried to ignore and resist the effects of the bite, but he eventually gave in and revealed himself when Scott and I noticed something.
âCarsâ I looked out the window.
âLots of themâ Scott added and our eyes met. Liam had told a friend, who told a friend, who told a friend. The boy was starting to lost control and Scott and I helped him to the boathouse while Stiles and Malia went to the basement and Lydia and Kira hosted the party the would now be happening.
The two of us worked hard to get the boy chained, only for him to break free quickly with ease. He then tackled Scott and I panicked trying to get both of them to calm down. I felt eager, protective of Scott, and I unknowingly used my powers to put the boy to sleep, which caused the alpha to look up at me with relief.
âTook you long enoughâ He gave me a cocky grin, and the two of us chained the boy back up, then sat down on the floor a couple feet away from him, avoiding eye contact with each other.
The two of us made small talk about how young the boy was, how he shouldnât be going through all this, but he was. After a beat of silence, Scott coaxed me into standing up and dancing with him, hugging my body close to me, trying to hide his face into my neck.
âIâm sorry I-â He paused as he took a deep inhale, then pulled back while holding on to me to look me in my eyes.
âThis has always been a tradition for us. Spending full moons togetherâ He hesitated speaking and his eyes flickered between mine, then down to my lips for a moment.
âYouâre my anchorâ He admitted, making my eyes soften slightly.
âScottâ My eyes jumped between his.
âYou donât need to say anythingâ He quickly interrupted me.
âJustâ He pulled him self flush with my body once more, then whispered into my body.
âLet me have this small momentâ He paused.
âPleaseâ I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths, trying to calm the way my heart rate began increasing. Was I scared? Nervous?
My internal questions were answered when a searing pain awakened in my body and my limbs started to feel like they were on fire.
I pulled myself closer to Lilyâs body, listening to her heartbeat steady, then quicken slightly. The percussion continued increasing itâs speed until, just as I was about to pull away, a blast of energy threw me to the floor in a flash.
I tried to focus my eyes and pushed myself to sit, seeing that Liam was still out like a light and was unharmed. My head snapped back to Lily, who was now on the floor, kneeling with her hands keeping her body up.
I stood up slowly as I heard incoherent whispers exit the girlâs mouth and walked closer, only to be stopped by a lifted hand.
âDonâtâ She whispered out. I paused for a moment, wanting her to say more, but part of my curiosity was cured when she lifted her head, allowing me to see her face. The girlâs eyes were glowing red and flickering yellow at times.
âI donât know whatâs happeningâ She spoke, then closed her eyes forcefully, hands flying up to her head.
âLilyâ I stepped closer, trying to be careful with my movements. The girl then started groaning out in pain, and I felt an instinctual need to eliminate whatever was making her hurt, and moved to come closer, until a blast resounded in the air, along with a scream, and a flash of light.
I covered my eyes with my forearm to protect my eyes, and once they were adjusted, I noticed that my Lily was now on the ground. Unmoving. No heartbeat.
I ran forwards and picked her up in my arms, feeling a cruel sense of deja vu. I placed my hand on her cheek, pushing back her hair as I felt my breathing become uncontrollable, and my vision started to blur.
âI just got you backâ I sobbed out.
âPleaseâ I cried out and lifted her body to place her forehead against mine. I lost her again. I was too late.
I fought the darkness once more. I had been here before, but this time it felt different.
This time, I woke up gently, as if I had taken a nap. My head was pounding, with all these renewed memories and I groaned slightly before lifting my hand to my head, trying to soothe the pain.
Wait. Memories? My memories?
It was then that I noticed that I was no longer on the ground, I was in someoneâs arms. Familiar arms. Scottâs arms. At this point, I opened my eyes, but all I was met with was a sobbing Scott. I furrowed my eyebrows, then remembered what happened moments before and lifted a hand to the boyâs cheek.
âScottâ His head shot up and he placed a hand over mine, then onto my cheeks, then all over my body, as if checking that whatever was happening was not a dream.
âAre you okay? Is it you?â He paused his movements and his words.
âScottâ His eyes that were wandering met mine.
âI rememberâ I adjusted to sit up in his lap and placed one hand on his chest, and the other on the back of his neck.
âI remember everythingâ I smiled lightly, leaning in as my eyes flickered down to Scottâs lips. I watched as they broke out into a smile, then the two of us moved closer until we were in an embrace- the first one in a while.
âIâm sorryâ I cried out and hugged the boy closer to my body.
âLilyâ
âI left you aloneâ My breathing felt harder to control as I started to sob. Scott followed easily but tried to contain himself by pulling his body closer to mine, holding my head towards his chest.
âI left you aloneâ Scott replied.
We both sat there for a few moments before collecting ourselves.
âI donât want this to be a dreamâ Scott whispered into my hair.
âDo you really remember everything?â I pulled back from the boy to look him in the eyes, wiping away his tears with the pads of my thumbs.
âI remember it allâ I smiled sadly.
âThe bad and the goodâ My hands traveled tot cup the boyâs cheeks.
âI remember our first kiss at Allisonâs apartment building, I remember treatment, I remember the alpha pack, Jennifer, the Oniâ I paused.
âYou remember dying?â Scott asked, though he suspected he knew the answer.
âYeahâ I whispered out and looked down at the floor for a moment.
âI remember being in your armsâ I smiled softly. Scottâs arms tightened around my waist and I wrapped mine around his neck, breathing in his scent. I could feel the alpha do the same.
âWhat just happenedâ Scott changed the subject.
âI donât knowâ I answered honestly.
âbut, whatever happened, happenedâ I pulled back to look back into the boyâs eyes.
âAnd for the betterâ I smiled into the kiss that Scott initiated. The boyâs kisses slowly started traveling to the corner of my mouth, along my jawline, then across my neck, causing soft giggles to exit my mouth. I could tell that this was instinct for him, it was a wolf thing, an alpha thing.
I felt the boyâs mouth hover over a particularly sensitive spot on my neck, he was hesitating. I placed my hand onto the back of his neck to reassure him, but opened my eyes on instinct.
âScottâ The alpha immediately pulled back, thinking he did something wrong or hurt me.
âWhat is it? Are you okay?â The boy kept trying to catch my eye, but I was focused on another boy.
âThe spell wore offâ I pointed to Liam, who was now awake, and fighting the chains easily. Scott then turned around and gently pushed me behind him, eliciting a glow from my eyes to occur.
âIâm not sure the chains are gonna hold himâ I stated, and was correct. The beta jumped out the window and raced off to the woods, causing Scott and I to look at each other, then at where the boy had exited.
âYou stay here, find everyone elseâ Scott ordered.
âBut-â
âYouâll be safer hereâ The boy then took off after pecking my forehead.
âItâs just Liamâ I called after him, to no avail.
a/n Allisonâs alive in this story, but she still left with her dad and Issac after season three because she felt at fault for Lilyâs death
Deaton was right, time did help me, but my memories were still far from back. In the meantime, however, it was time to get back to normal life- or at least what everyone else told me my life was.
This meant, moving back to the Stilinski household, as Noah had full custody over me, cleaning up all of my untouched items- I guess no one wanted to bother my things- and last but not least, go back to school. A whole seven hours where other kids my age would point and whisper at the girl who died.
-
The boys were discussing how Kate, the woman back from the dead as well, had a brother who was told over text came back from the dead. I stayed walking side by side Scott as Stiles turned around to face us.
Scott and I didnât talk about my admittance of remembering that certain memory. We pushed past it. We tried to live in the now. Make new memories. Thatâs what led me here, watching lacrosse practice.
âJust meet us by the locker roomsâ Stiles asked when I told the boys I had to stop by my science classroom before first period. I nodded and smiled softly before turning in the wrong direction as I was not intending on going to my science classroom.
I unknowingly headed towards the courtyard, trying to chase a lingering memory when I ran into another body on the way. Accidentally dropping my books, the boy in front of me helped me pick them up, muttering apologies along the way until we were both standing once more.
âSorry about thatâ He spoke.
âDonât worry about itâ I looked towards the exit of the school.
âI wasnât watching where I was goingâ I furrowed my eyebrows, confused as to where I was going in the first place.
âLiamâ The boy spoke after a few beats of silence.
âSorry?â I questioned.
âMy nameâ He scrambled to place his hand in front of him.â
âMy name is Liamâ He clarified.
âLilyâ I replied with a light smile, shaking his hand in mine.
âOhâ He made a face.
âYouâre the girl who-â He trailed off.
âThe girl who diedâ I finished for him.
âThatâs the oneâ I nodded and avoided eye contact for a moment.
âNo itâs not that, itâs just-â My head shot back up to meet his eyes.
âYou werenât what I was expectingâ I made a face of confusion at this.
âWhat does that mean?â I giggled a little bit.
âYouâre just-â He gestured towards my body.
âreally prettyâ His hand shot towards his mouth as a light pink spread across his cheeks. I opened my mouth in surprise when two familiar figures entered our conversation.
âWhat are we talking about?â Liam turned to the boys who just arrived, making excuses and then walking away.
âWhat was that for?â I gestured towards where the boy used to be standing.
âWhat?â Scott shrugged.
âI was making friendsâ I furrowed my eyebrows as both boys stood on either side of me and placed their arms on my shoulders.
âWhat more could you need than us twoâ Stiles joked as my head turned towards his with a face.
-
After school, I was forced to watch lacrosse try outs, as I only had my permit before I died, and now, I didnât even remember that.
I watched as the boy I met before, Liam, was doing great, perfect even, while the other boys, even my Scott- even Scott, struggled to keep up, if at all.
Eventually, the boys got worked up enough to injure Liam, making everyone let out a groan of sympathy.
After tryouts, Scott pulled me outside, pleading for a conversation before he left with Stiles to take Liam to the hospital.
âWhat did you want to talk about?â I questioned as the boy led me to a corner and let go of my hand.
âI just, I wanted to say that-â He paused and fiddled with his fingers.
âDespite what I said earlierâ He paused once more.
âYou are free to be friends with whoever you wantâ He avoided eye contact.
âYou donât owe anything to usâ He continued.
âAnythingâ He added whispering. I paused before replying.
âIs this about Liam?â Scott nodded in reply.
âI just donât want you to feel like you owe anything to Stiles and Iâ He looked back up at me.
âAs friends or romanticallyâ He added.
âScottâ I interrupted.
âI heard what you said at the clinicâ I whispered out.
âWhat?â He made a face.
âAboutâ I considered revealing myself.
âAbout still feeling a connection to meâ I finished.
âAndâ I looked down at my hands.
âI think I feel the same wayâ I looked back up to see the boy smile slightly.
âBut Iâm scaredâ His expression turned to one of concern.
âI can protect youâ He jumped to proclaim. I shook my head slightly.
âIâm not worried about thatâ I smiled.
âI feel so out of placeâ I paused.
âI donât belongâ I made a face. Scott hesitated, then took my hand in his once more.
âYou do belong. I promiseâ He squeezed my hand slightly.
âAnd Iâll do whatever it take to make you believe that tooâ
âYou worried?â My head snapped towards the man on the left of me. I paused for a moment and stared before answering.
âWhat is it?â He persisted. I hesitated once more.
âI know itâs you. Scents donât changeâ I paused. Derekâs eyes flickered from the road to me for a moment.
âBut you just look so differentâ I shook my head slightly.
âI feel like Iâve been dropped in some alternate reality where my mind was put into the body of someone who just gained consciousnessâ I ranted and rested my head back against the passenger window.
âWellâ Derek started.
âThatâs why weâre going to someone who can help with thatâ He tried to sound cheerful.
âOr at least tryâ He added on quickly.
-
We pulled into the parking lot of what seemed to be a vet clinic and I raised an eyebrow of suspicion to Derek as we started walking towards the building.
My hearing unknowingly focused on some voices that were inside and I was about to clear my head of it until I heard my name.
âLily has to feel it too, right?â
âCan youâ A different voice spoke.
âYeahâ Their voice faltered.
âWhen she died, it was like a part of me diedâ They continued.
âThen a few days ago, I suddenly felt this feeling- hope- and we found her the next dayâ There was a long pause which made me make a face as we got closer to the door. Derek must not have been listening to the conversation, because he tried to reassure me for a different reason.
âTrust meâ He pulled the door open for me. Once inside, we walked past the front desk and was met with an examination room that was not empty.
âThereâs no guarantee that sheâs matching what you feelâ The man continued.
Inside, two figures turned around at the notice of our bodies. The third kept talking.
âIâm not very well versed in the study of dead hybrid mates that come back to lifeâ Derek cleared his throat which caught the attention of the man as I shifted my weight and looked down at the floor.
When I looked back up, I realized who was in the room. The two boys that were there when I woke up. My attention quickly drifted to the owner of the store, I assumed, and I learned that his name was Deaton.
Deaton tried his best to pull any information he could out of me so we could potentially fix what was wrong with me. Maybe I couldnât be fixed.
âWhatâs the last thing you remember before waking up?â He tried. I looked down at my hands and thought for a moment.
âNothingâ I furrowed my eyebrows.
âI know that Derekâs my family, I know where I live, where my house is, I know what powers I have, but thereâs no specific memory that comes to mindâ I replied.
âNo memories at all?â I shook my head at Stilesâ question.
My eyes flickered to the other boy to see hesitation in his eyes.
âBut my first time waking up wasnât with these twoâ I nodded my head towards the boys. Deaton perked at this.
âWhen was it then, if you donât mind telling meâ I smiled slightly.
âProbably six days ago?â I tried to think.
âI woke up in the forest. Alone. Nakedâ Stiles tilted his head slightly at this.
âI later found out that I was in the forests of Oregon. I donât k-â
âWait a minuteâ Stiles cut me off.
âPause. Why were you naked?â I furrowed my eyebrows at this but everyone was matching the boyâs expression.
âHave I not always been like this?â I questioned.
âIt was a blood moonâ I tried, but no one changed their expression.
âI always transform on eclipsesâ I tried again, and faces turned surprised and amazed.
âTwice a year, you change into a werewolf?â Deaton calmly asked.
âTwice a year, I turn into a wolf, hence the waking up naked partâ I explained.
âThatâs another one of those things that I just knowâ I paused to think.
âI have no memory of any of my other transformations, but I know that they happenâ Deaton tried to give me a reassuring smile.
-
Time
That was Deatonâs solution. Time.
I donât know why. I donât know how thatâll work, but itâs better then nothing I guess.
The interrogation did not stop there, however. After getting me checked supernaturally, I was forced by Derek, and surprisingly, Scott, to get checked up at the hospital.
It was just the boy and I as Derek apparently had other matters to settle currently. I mentally worried about how I would deal with being with Scott alone, but my body felt calm with him. Physically I relaxed, but you didnât need enhanced hearing to tell my heart was racing harder than I could handle.
Once at the hospital, Scott led me through the halls, walking around like he knew every nook and cranny. We eventually ended up in an examination room, where a woman was already there, waiting for us.
I said nothing as Scott had a small discussion with her, then turned to me, and the examination started. The woman was careful and tried to keep me comfortable as she took a physical, making sure to take a blood test for any possible outliers as well.
While taking my blood she started asking questions that might help her narrow her search. I donât know why, I donât know how, but I ended up spilling to her the memories.
âYou can trust meâ She promised.
I told her about the headaches. About the girls. Peter. Malia. The boy. The connection. I didnât know whoâs memories these were. But they didnât feel like memories, they felt like information. Same as me transforming every eclipse, itâs just information that I just know.
The woman eventually left to run the tests, and I hesitated looking at Scottâs shoes before starting.
âThereâs something elseâ I whispered out. Scottâs head darted up to see the top of mine and I lifted it slowly to meet his eyes.
âThereâs one more memoryâ I paused.
âBut this oneâs differentâ I thought for a moment.
âItâs repetitive, it doesnât give me a headache, and-â I paused before bringing my drifting eyes back to the boy.
âIt feels like my memoryâ
âWhat is it?â Scott questioned.
âThat room I woke up in, itâs yours isnât it?â I asked. Scott nodded in reply.
âItâs-â I paused.
âItâs me and you in that room. Iâm lying on top of your chestâ I paused as my eyes unfocused.
âYouâre apologizing for something thatâs not your fault so I place my hands on your cheeks, you grab themâ I pause.
âYou keep your right hand in mind and use the other one to cup my cheekâ I pause again, letting out a deep exhale.
âAs soon as your hand touches my faceâ I close my eyes, dreaming of the touch.
âThe memory endsâ Both of us stay silent.
âDid that actually happen?â I whispered out. It was then that I noticed Scottâs leg.
âYeahâ He looks up at me with tears in his eyes.
âIt was the first time I said âI love youâ He added and smiled.
âDid I say it back?â I questioned though I think I already knew the answer.
âYeahâ He paused.
âBut you didnât need toâ His smiled dropped slightly.
-
Melissa came back with the test results and told us the information, that my body was healing at an incredible rate, to the point that I could be considered invulnerable for the time being. Now this information was new to me.
I woke up with a quiet gasp, eyes flying open, darting around the room. I couldnât recognize where I was. I couldnât recognize anything, actually. I slowly pushed myself to sit, not wanting to make any loud noises, and found myself in a bedroom, which Iâm sure belonged to the boy sitting in the chair next to me, out like a light.
I looked down a little more and found another boy, unconscious against the bed frame. I didnât seem to be in any danger, I actually felt comfortable in this space but I did not want to overstay my welcome and I did not want to be proven wrong.
I scooted down to the edge of the bed as quietly and quickly as I could before using my legs to walk to the door, but not before looking back at the boys, making sure that I would be in the clear. I looked at the picture in front of me and noticed that something was different, the boy from the couch was missing.
I swiftly turned back to face the door and was met with the missing boy. I raised my eyebrows and jumped backwards in surprise, continued my travel backwards as the boy looked at me in confusion.
His expression then turned to one of compassion.
âIâm not gonna hurt youâ He tried stepping closer.
âItâs meâ My face stayed unchanging as I kept my distance and the two of us started circling each other. The boyâs expression then turned to one of hurt. My heart ached at that.
I stayed silent and observed him some more until the other boy started moving around, signaling that he would be waking up. He stretched and yawned, then jittered at the sight of us standing.
The boy in front of me followed my eye line to the boy behind him and I look this as a chance to run.
I ran outside of the boyâs room and struggled a bit, but made it outside. From there, I used every sense I had to find out where I was in the city, then were I was in relation to my home.
I continued racing through the woods, trying hard to loose the boy behind me until I turned my head trying to locate where he was, only to run into something in front of me.
My head snapped and I took a couple steps backwards, feeling my heart rate spike until I recognized who was in front of me.
âDerekâ
âCee Ceeâ
The two of us quickly closed the distance, grasping on to the other like our lives depended on it. After a quick recap on what they had gone through and where they were, they realized they were both on the same page: find the Hale House.
We both continued our search, trying our best to stay hidden.
-
As we got closer to the building, we first noticed that there was a chain fence surrounding it. Then, we noticed that the building was torn down, reduced to nothing but rubble.
The two of us looked at each other before stepping closer, not saying a word to the other. Derek fell to the ground as I stood in disbelief, barely noticing the police sirens grow louder and louder.
My head turned towards the officers as they started speaking to us, but Derek cut them off. He was asking the question we both wanted to know. Where was our house?
The officers tried to tell us that the house had been empty for years, but I didnât believe them. Derek didnât either, and he made his opinions a little more known.
It was then that the younger looking officerâs expression changed, and he hesitated before speaking.
âLillian?â He stepped a little closer.
âLillian Stilinski?â He asked curiously.
Our one sided conversation soon came to an end, however, as Derek kept antagonizing both of the officers until he eventually got tazed multiple times, leaving him partially vulnerable to become detained by handcuffs.
-
The officers took our prints, any information they could get, then locked Derek to the bench we were sitting on, while I shook my leg nervously, trying to get a sense of the place we were in.
Why everyone seemed to recognize me.
âDid you hear that?â Derek asked. I jolted at the noise and faced him with a questioning look. He nodded towards the officers in front of us.
âThis canât be right. We went to her funeralâ One of the officers whispered in disbelief.
I furrowed my eyebrows and made a face at Derek, to which the boy returned almost immediately.
âNoâ A voice loudly stated.
âIt canât beâ Another officer walked closer to us until he focused his eyes on me, knelt on his knees to come face to face with me.
I looked at him in confusion as the officers behind him tried to pull him away from his thoughts, but he had already pulled me against his body, causing me to make another face towards the boy next to me.
âSheriff, she doesnât remember anythingâ The younger deputy spoke. The man hugged me a little bit tighter before letting go and placing his hands on my cheeks for a moment causing me to look him in the eyes.
âYou donât remember me?â I hesitated before shaking my head.
âStiles?â I shook my head.
âLydia?â I shook my head.
âAllison?â I shook my head.
âScott?â I took a moment to think, but ultimately had to shake my head. His face of relief then turned to one of worry and disappointment, then let go of my face to turn back to his deputies. They seemed to gain some information on Derek and the man inspected him closer, trying not to look at me, until his attention was turned to the doorway, where the two boys from earlier had arrive.
âWhat?â Derek sensed my sudden posture change.
âYou know them?â He questioned. I nodded without thinking. The sheriff called the boys into their office.
âNoâ I shook my head.
âThey were there when I woke up.â I explained. Derek a made a face.
âDid they do anything to you?â He leaned in towards me.
âNot that I know ofâ I admitted. The boy tried to keep a friendly face as we were then sat down into the Sheriffâs office.
The boys then tried to keep things civil, they admitted that they just wanted to help us by getting our memories back. We were having a hard time trusting them, but the boy in front of us tried flashing his eyes to prove himself further.â
Maybe thatâs why I felt what I did for him. I stayed quiet for the most part but I could tell that both the boys were hoping that I would speak.
âJust trust usâ The alpha pleaded.
âWhereâs our family?â I questioned. All heads snapped to me. We were then explained that there was a fire and everyone had to move away, but they were alive. We would be reunited with them once we got our memories back.
The two of us then exited the room and I watched as Derek continued to sign papers for us. I donât think they were for us though, I think they were for him. Why didnât I need to sign papers? Because I came back from the dead? Did I die? How did I die?
-
Scott tried to get me to go with him, and I insisted on going with Derek, but even he thought that I should go with Scott. If it would help us get our memories back, it was worth doing- was his justification.
And so, I clasped my hands tightly around the boyâs waist, hair flowing freely as I watched the town around me. We eventually made it to an apartment complex where a tall brunette was already waiting for us.
âWhat are you doing here?â Scott asked, looking behind at me nervously. The girl then explained that she was here for his protection. This man, Peter, who I assumed we were meeting, was apparently bad news.
âDidnât know you would be hereâ The girl gestured towards me.
âWait. I thought-â She started curiously but was cut off by Scott pushing the girl into the building.
âWe better get goingâ He insisted. The girl continued her protests while I followed curiously behind the two of them.

We eventually made it to one of the highest floors and slid the door open to a room and I followed the two of them inside. Scott slowed his steps slightly so I would stay within his armâs reach.
The girl, Malia, pointed out how Scott seemed nervous, his heart was racing like crazy. I furrowed my eyebrows once focusing a bit and gave him a questioning look.
âHeâs just bad at introductionsâ All three of our heads turned to the man who spoke. My head tilted slightly at him but I made no move to speak and didnât protest when Scott instinctively pushed me behind himself.
Scott introduced Malia to Peter and an awkward conversation then started, until we got back to the reason why we were here.
âLillian. I almost didnât recognize youâ Peter gestured towards me.
âWelcome to the very exclusive club of the risen from the dead Halesâ The man spoke sarcastically. His eyes then darted to Scottâs and the two seemed to share a silent conversation before continuing.
Scott then tried to get to the bottom of his situation, but I couldnât hear even with his lips moving. My hearing started to muffle then disappear, along with my vision, when moving picture started to cross my mind. Memories. My memories.
A girl with red hair. Intelligent. Powerful. Malia. Another brunette girl. A bow and arrow. Peter. A discovery. A deal. The scarlett haired girl knew a secret: Peter had a daughter. Peter was Maliaâs father.
Scottâs hand on my arm made me snap my eyes to his, trying to comprehend the new information I had.
âWhat?â I questioned. Everyoneâs eyes were on mine.
âDo you remember a Kate Argent?â Scott leaned down to get a better look into my eyes. I furrowed my eyebrows and held my mouth open in disbelief.
âYeah, I know Kate Argentâ I gazed at the trio.
âSheâs niceâ Scott pulled back at this and turned back to face the two wolves.
âThey still trust herâ Peter finished. I made a face before speaking once more.
âWhat about Kate?â I tried to catch any of their eyes.
âWhat is it?â I pressed on.
âLetâs say Kate turnedâ Scott tried after hesitating.
âWhat would she want with you and Derek?â I thought for a second before answering.
âWhat does any newly turned werewolf want?â I scanned the group. No one was catching on.
âControlâ I finished.
âShe wants the Triskelionâ Peter added. The vault.

The four of us journeyed to Derekâs school: Beacon Hills High School. We almost made it inside until a scent was found. The scent of a berserker.
Malia want to go after them, but Peter advised against it, and before I knew it, I was behind pulled along by my wrist by Scott, trying to run away from the creature. Scratch that, creatures.
Eventually, we were cornered, and forced to fight. I was able to keep up and hold my own, even force a few wounds myself surprisingly. I felt empowered. Like I was brand new. Clean. Maybe I was. If everyone was remembering right, I was dead. Now I was alive.
Scott and Malia were now on the ground, watching as I protected myself and them from danger, keeping the berserkers occupied. I knew their next moves, I could shield myself from them and plan and execute offensive attacks. My mind was going 80 miles an hour and slowly, once again, my mind started to drift to another memory.
A pain. My hands flew up to my head. A connection with another. One that caused me to get hurt, over and over. One that kept me weak. One that forced me to be weak. One that led to my death. Not just my pain, but his too. His? These thoughts werenât my own. These couldnât be my memories, could they?
I was pulled out of my head when one of the berserkers stabbed me with itâs claw, eventually tossing me to the floor next to Scott. I groaned and rolled to my side, holding my abdomen tightly while pushing myself to sit up.
I looked to the boy next to me to see worry and fear, then relief. I followed his eyes to my wound and lifted my hand off of it, making a show at my recovery.
âIâm fineâ I explained.
âAre you okay?â I questioned, but my attention was quickly turned back to the fight, where Derek was now taking the berserkers on two against one. He was able to fight back and was having trouble maintainc composure until he finally snapped it seemed.
The berserkers were running away, but the Derek kneeling on the ground wasnât the Derek I knew. He grew up.
I furrowed my eyebrows at this but if I thought about it, it made sense. I donât know how long I was dead.

I stood back and watched in shock at the sight of my brother, the real one, back in front of me. I could hear muffled sounds happening around me as I watched Stiles get taken upstairs to be examined by Melissa. Deaton went to check on the twins. Peter disappeared.
I only snapped out of whatever trance I was in when Scott told me that we were calling Noshiko. If Stiles really was Stiles, then we had to prove it.
After Stiles was cleared medically, we all went downstairs and met with Noshiko, and in turn, the Oni. I grabbed Scottâs hand instinctually hoping that the Oni could prove what I already knew in my mind. After what felt like ages, Stiles was marked, and the Oni disappeared. He was him.
Next step, telling my dad. The ride to the station was quiet, to say the least. Though I was happy my brother was back, I couldnât get over this uneasy feeling that wouldnât go away. I knew that Stiles was safe, but Iâm not sure I was. Dad was relieved to see Stiles, but was disappointed when he heard that the fight was not yet over. We still needed to find Lydia.
Why would a nogitsune need a banshee? The four of us wracked our brains together trying to figure out the why, so we could figure out the where. Stiles then thought about a person she knew, Meredith Walker, who seemed to know the whole story.
-
Dad went to visit Meredith while the three of us stayed at Scottâs house, waiting for news from anyone. I sat on the chair opposite Stiles, looking up from my book occasionally to make sure he was still there. It was instinct. It wasnât that I didnât trust him, I just felt odd about the situation.
Scott walked towards my figure, sensing my anxiousness as my head was gently tilted upwards towards his.
He said nothing but looked between my eyes, trying to find something that my body language and chemosignals didnât already say. I maintained eye contact and smiled slightly as Scott tried to place a comforting hand on my cheek.
I only pulled back when Stiles suddenly jolted awake and panicked to the point of stumbling his steps. I quickly stood up and helped him stand as Scott did the same. He made us repeat what happened, where everyone was, what they were doing, he wanted them to be accounted for.
Then the boy started shaking and quickly pulled his jacket on, saying something about not being able to get warm. Scott made a move and tried to get him to rest when he noticed that he was in pain. He wouldnât tell us how much pain, which spoke enough.
My phone then started buzzing from where I was seated. It was Kira. Apparently Meredith was at the school and we had to get there asap.
We searched around the building trying to find her and eventually landed in the music room. Coach had seemingly tazed Brunski and allowed us the time we needed to get Meredith back to Scottâs place.
This car ride was actually less awkward. Even after learning the fact that Meredith didnât know where Lydia was. We entered the room to find Issac and Agent McCall standing in the kitchen. I stayed silent as enough excuses were made for us to talk in private, without Scott. He had a different topic to discuss with his father.
I turned back around, making sure that Scott would be okay, and the boy gave me a nod as a sign of reassurement.
Once upstairs, the girl gave no answers as to where Lydia might be. She was clueless, about this topic at least.
After we learned this, the boys tried to train the girl to be a better banshee, to no avail. After some bickering between the boys, Meredith said something about a phone ringing and finally gave us something.
âCoup de foudreâ The boys were confused as to what this meant.
âFrenchâ
âFrenchâ Scott and I stayed at the same time. Just like that, something clicked. They were at Oak Creek.
Scott seemed a little distracted in the car but his mood changed when Issac brought up how poor Stiles looked. Stiles kept talking about how he didnât care what happened to him. Just that nobody else would get hurt. He remembered everything. Stabbing Scott, stabbing me, everything.
Once we arrived, we met up with Allison and Kira. Scott turned on his alpha voice and gave us a motivating talk about how we could do this. We had everything we needed and we had each other.
âDonât dieâ I stopped paying attention to the conversation and was pulled back by a voice in my ear.
âSame to youâ I nodded curtly as I watched Scott try to put on a brave face. I wasnât the only one who had a bad feeling about this. The nogitsune was no longer possessing my brother but I still hadnât felt any relief.
Scott accompanied Stiles inside of the building as the rest of us stood in front of Noshiko and the Oni. The woman tried to convince her daughter to leave, but was met with Allison and I loading our weapons: glowing blades were now in my hands.
She was trying to convince us to leave. To let the nogitsune be killed. The figures then disappeared from our sight and we were left with a surprising revelation: the Oni were under another personâs control now.
I turned around at the familiar voice and held my knives up in the air defensively. Void now had control of the figures.
I tried my best to keep up against the creatures but felt myself growing tired. Weaker. I started stumbling lightly and found myself at a close call only to be saved by the girl with the bow.
We both nodded at each other lightly as I stood back up taking up another defensive pose. We kept fighting for what felt like hours until I couldnât maintain my powers anymore, and the blades from my hands disappeared.
I was forced to rely on my combat skills now, with strength like a humanâs. I fought to catch my breath as I noticed the lack of fighting near me and I noticed movement in my peripherals.
I turned my head and saw Issac continually getting slashed by the Oniâs swords, he looked how I felt right about now.
It seemed that Allison had also noticed this situation and caught my attention, quickly handing me an arrow from the ground, where she had fallen injured.
I swiftly took the arrow in my hand and yelled out in pain as a weapon built in my hands. I pulled back the bow and closed one eye as I aimed for the Oni doing the most damage and let the arrow fly.
The oni was hit. He was actually effected by the arrow. The creature dissolved into the air. I smiled lightly before falling to the ground, only to be halted by a figure grabbing my arm.
I snapped my head towards the sensation to see an Oni holding me up. I then looked down to where his other hand was and saw that he stabbed me. It saw an opening. It saw a weakness. It stabbed me.
I looked back up into the darkness and felt myself fall completely to the ground as the Oni had let go of my body now.
Before I hit the ground, however, I was caught by familiar arms. I was having deja vu.
I closed my eyes by instinct but forced them open once hearing the pleas that exited the boyâs mouth.
âYouâre okay. Youâre okay. Youâre okayâ He stuttered while trying to get a better grip on me.
âDid you find her? Did you find Lydia?â I questioned, stopping every couple of words to catch my breath.
âLily, pleaseâ Scott placed a hand on my cheek as his eyes started filling up with tears.
âDid you find her?â Scott looked down at my abdomen and pressed his other hand to my wound.
âScott!â I mustered with as much strength as I could.
âYeah- Yes. We found herâ I nodded slightly and smiled, relaxing slightly in the boyâs arms.
âLilyâ His voice cracked as his eyes ran up and down my body.
âWhy arenât you healing?â He questioned, trying not to break down.
âSheâs too weakâ A voice spoke from behind me. Stiles stepped closer until he fell next to me and hesitated grabbing my hand.
âItâs me, isnât itâ He paused.
âDonât blame yourselfâ My hand shook as it tried to find Stilesâ cheek, having to be held by the boy himself up to his face. He smiled lightly and closed his eyes, trying to find some comfort in the moment.
âEither of youâ My head turned slightly to meet Scottâs.
âFinish what weâve startedâ I furrowed my eyebrows as I fought harder to breathe. Scott started brushing a hand through my hair, trying to provide me some comfort. Trying to provide him some comfort.
âGet your lives backâ I whispered.
âYou canât leave meâ Scott shook his head in disbelief. I hesitated before speaking once more, taking a deep inhale in preparation.
âI love you bothâ I tried hard to look both boys in the eyes once more, but was pulled against it by a deepening slumber, forcing itâs overtaking of my body.
After hearing from Malia about what she and Stiles found before he disappeared, we headed to Kira, as the items that appeared seem tied to her family. After showing her the evidence, circumstance brought us to the school to meet with her parents, who finally decided to tell us the truth.
The picture that was found at Eichen house, if wasnât of an ancestor of Kiraâs, it was Kiraâs mother. She then showed us the blade that was found, and how it was broken into pieces. It was last used in 1943, against a nogitsune, in Oak Creek.
It was then revealed that Oak Creek was an internment camp that was erased from history. The nogitsune. It was created by Noshiko. She then recalled a story about how she was in love with an Np named Rhys. He helped the Japanese-Americans live with a better quality of life.
Scott thought that Noshiko was stalling for the Oni, but the woman was sure that Stiles was gone. The only way to defeat the nogitsune was to eliminate him.
Noshiko then went on to prove that she could heal, that neither she nor Kira would ever get sick and went on to retell the wave of pneumonia that hit Oak Creek. The camp doctor was selling a crucial medicine on the black market for profit and without it, people were dying. And as such, the people decided to fight back, resulting in a riot that revealed Satomiâs true nature and she lost control.
Rhys suffered the consequences of Satomiâs anger and so did the rest of the residents at Oak Creek. Rhys died in agony and Noshiko almost died but, during her trip to the graveyard she called upon her ancestors for a nogitsune to enact revenge. Instead of possessing Noshiko, however, it possessed Rhys.
It did exactly what it was called upon to do. By the time Noshiko had enough energy to make it back to camp, she saw the destruction that was caused. She had to put a stop to him, and in doing so, broke her sword into pieces.
Taking the demon out of Rhys shattered the sword, but we needed a bolt of lightning to piece it back together. Kira, who happened to be a thunder kitsune, was uneasy, but finished the job easily.
Noshiko then gave the sword to Kira, telling her that the power was hers now, only she had the power to defeat the nogitsune. The couple was sure that the only way to succeed was to kill Stiles.
Scott then got a text on his phone and slightly turned the screen for me to see.
Allison: loft
With that, my hand was gently guided out the door and away from the conversation.Â
-
âStop!â I yelled out racing into the room and placing my hand on Argentâs gun to point it towards the ground.
âCanât you see this is what it wants?â I snapped my head towards the boy.
âStrife, chaos, and pain, right?â I tried hard to keep my face neutral.
âNow thatâs not fair Lillianâ The nogitsune smirked slightly.
âDonât get into my head like thatâ I made a face in reply.
âAnd thatâs not exactly what I wantâ He admitted, then told us that he lured us here to protect him from the Oni, who just now decided to show up.
Argent, Allison, Derek, and my dad all formed a square around Stiles, trying to protect him from the Oni. I stood in the center with the boy, assuring myself as a second line of defence.
âYouâre lucky you knowâ Stiles spoke amongst the fighting.
âWellâ He paused.
âIâm lucky, I guessâ He moved closer to me.
âBecause you were adoptedâ He smirked and I felt his breath fan my face, before he grabbed me by my neck and threw me against a pillar before disappearing, along with the Oni.
It was then that Scott and Kira finally showed up and rushed into the room. I slowly pushed myself to stand, and by the time I was halfway up, warm hands were already there, carrying part of my weight.
âYou okay?â The boy kept one hand supporting me by my arm while brushing my hair back to check my neck and collarbone, sensing what had happened just moments before. I nodded at his worrying eyes, making sure to flash him a small smile as well.
A conversation then started about how everyone disappeared and how we werenât sure what the outcome of this interaction was.
Derek made sure to have a short conversation with me before I left, we werenât nearly as close as we were when we were younger, he felt like a stranger, but he still cared about me, and I him, and he told me that my connection with Stiles could be used as an advantage, but to be careful.
-
Kira ended up coming home with me, she didnât want to be around her parents, feeling betrayed. Scott came home with me as well, deciding not to go against his instincts of keeping his mate close by.
It was a weird predicament, Kira was sleeping in my bed, Scott and I slept on the floor, the boy giving me all the comfort I could need. When I was asleep, however, I couldnât do so for long.
I woke up after a short period of time, judging by the fact that it was still dark outside. I looked up at the boy underneath me and made careful moves to escape his grasp before finding myself standing inside of Stilesâ room.
Next thing I know, tears are falling down my cheeks and Iâm hugging myself to keep from completely breaking down. I took one hand to cover my whimpers and closed my eyes forcefully before jumping at the sensation of touch on my shoulders.
When I opened my eyes, Scott was standing in front of me, leaning down to look me in the eyes. The two of us said nothing as I continued to sob and Scott slowly held my body, sending soft whispers in my ears.
âWeâll be okayâ I donât know how many times Scott had said this by now. Iâm not even sure I believed it anymore. Or if I did in the first place.
-
When we awoke, I was back inside my room on the floor resting on top of Scott, who was rubbing gentle circles on my back. I looked up at him to see him already staring back at me and smiled gently.
Apparently the night before had worn all three of us out, as we had woken up in the late afternoon, and Kira wasnât awake at all. We sat there for a few moments before I was called by Lydia.
They found Stiles.
We called Deaton and he met Aiden and Lydia at the house, giving him an inspection. He had a wound on his stomach, but it was healing, which wasnât good for us.
Aiden wanted to tie him down, but he was instead given Kanima venom, and then Stiles teased the boy, making him worry about his twin. Scott pulled me backwards trying to keep me from getting hurt, but he was only protecting me from getting hurt physically.
Aiden left and the rest of us tried hard to think of a plan. The scroll said to change his body, but there were ethical implications of biting him as well. Scott wanted to call Derek. Lydia instead called Peter.
Peter told us that this was something that would be fixed in the mind, not the body. With this information, he pointed to Scott and said that he would be using his alpha claws to get inside Stilesâ consciousness and pull it out. He needed to take me in with him.
Scott kept asking questions as to what we should do when we find the real Stiles. Peter was very vague in his answers as he placed one of Scottâs claws behind Stilesâ neck, then behind mine. Both Scott and I were skeptical at the effectiveness of this plan, but we were running out of time.
Scott then took a deep breath and we entered Stilesâ consciousness. When we âwoke upâ we were strapped down to some hospital beds. I think weâre at Eichen House.
âScottâ I whispered out while struggling against the straps.
âTry to break freeâ I ordered. I turned to see Scott make a face, so I provided further explanation.
âIâm weak in here. I canât use my powers, but I can feel themâ I stopped struggling.
âYou should be able to use yoursâ I nodded and pleaded him for help. He nodded slightly before mustering the strength to break free of his restraints, then rushed over to help me out of mine.
âNo pain though, right?â Scott rubbed my wrist and looked towards me curiously.
âNot yetâ I looked at the only door in the room. The boy made a face of disappointment before following my eyeline. He started walking forwards and gently pushed me behind him. I followed closely behind as he opened the door, but shut once he was through, thoroughly trapping me inside.
âScott?â I tried opening the door with the handle.
âScott!â I started banging on the door.
I turned around and was met with a familiar scene. Family day dance. Neither Stiles nor my dad showed up. I started walking forwards as I walked through the hallways, looking in to see my friends' rooms empty.
âBrett?â I yelled out as my voice echoed through the halls. I continued searching through the rooms until my sights landed on a familiar figure. My breathing became harder to control as I backed away from the nogitsune, running towards the end of the hall.Â
Once I opened the doors to the main lounging area, the nogitsune was standing right in front of me. I beelined for the path behind me and avoided looking behind me to watch the creature get closer and closer. I kept going until I noticed that one of the doors were closed and as I got closer, I realized that it was my old room.
Taking a chance with fate, I turned hard to enter my old room and was met with an endless white room with pillars lining the sides and white lights all across the ceiling.
I kept looking around me until I noticed that Scott ran up next to me. We both gave each other a once over before noticing Scott sitting across the room. He was playing a game with the nogitsune.
The boy gave me a subtle nod before we both started running towards the two. After making no progress, I remembered that Stiles was technically a part of Scottâs pack. His best friend. How do pack members signal their locations to each other? They roar. And thatâs what Scott did.
Stiles immediately noticed the two of us and ended his game with the nogitsune making Scott and I wake up with a gasp. I grabbed the back of my neck as I stood up and a familiar boy gave me another once over, this time in person.
I watched Peter pull Lydia away and Scott noticed that my attention was elsewhere. He questioned their conversation but was ignored until Stiles suddenly became alert and started pulling medical wrap out of his mouth until it was a pile on the floor.
A hand reached out from the pile and started to emerge from the floor, all of us backed away until it was all the way out, and Scott and Peter fought to restrain him, until we peeled back the wrap and noticed that it was Stiles. The real Stiles. The nogitsune, he was gone and he took Lydia with him.
I sat behind Scott, racing against the clock to make it to Eichen House. Once we made it, I quickly got out from behind Scott and ran up to my family.
âWhy didnât you tell meâ I pleaded.
âBecause I knew youâd try to stop meâ Stiles explained. A conversation then started about the ups and downs about this institution. Dad knew about the supernatural world and would follow his sonâs wants always, but what scared him in actuality, was the MRI scans which proved identical to his wifeâs. Stiles didnât want to hurt us.
If we couldnât find a cure, he didnât want to ever be let out.
âStilesâ I stepped forward to reach out toward my brother.
âWhy donât you wait out here sweetheartâ My dad stepped in front of my brother and placed his hands on my shoulders.
âIâll take you home afterwardsâ He smiled gently. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I watched as he gestured towards Scott, who carefully pulled me into his arms, holding my head into his chest. The boy didnât speak, but I knew he felt the same. We were helpless.
I breathed out roughly and placed my hands on Scottâs chest.
âYou can head home. Iâll be fine out hereâ Scott made a face.
âLily, Iâm not just going to leave you out here alone. Not when-â He paused, seeing tears well up in my eyes.
âScottâ I whispered.
âI just-â I swallowed.
âI just want to be home right nowâ My eyes flickered to the ground briefly.
âThen, Iâll take you and we can-â
âScottâ He paused once more and cupped my cheek.
âPleaseâ I wrapped my hand around his wrist and pulled it off of my face.
I could tell Scott was going against his instincts. Walking away right now was killing him, but it had to be done, if I was to find a solution to my brotherâs illness.
âOkayâ He whispered in reply.
âYou know I love you, right?â He hesitated to touch me. I nodded in reply. He paused before walking away, getting on his motorcycle and driving away. I hugged his jacket closer to my body and waited until he was out of view before moving.
It was like everything was hitting me now. Stilesâ had a demon fox inside of him. He had a supernatural roommate. I had done nothing to help him. I rejected the fact that there was anything wrong with him at all, and I did nothing when he stabbed me in the stomach, rendering me useless as the nogitsune gained more power. I was helpless.
I started walking towards the school, sending a quick text to my dad on the way,
spending the night with Scott
call me if you need me
I continued my journey until I entered the school, having to use my powers to enter. I beelined for the basement and entered the Hale vault without a second thought.
âTime to get to workâ I whispered out.
-
After all that time, I had found nothing in my motherâs spell books. No spell, no potion, no combination of essences could be used to fix this problem. If I wanted to fix this on my own, Iâd have to make my own spell.
I continued searching for bits and pieces of spells I could use when a throbbing pain hit my vision. I was back in the basement, that actually turned out to be the den. The grates above, Stiles had seen them. The basement. Itâs the basement at Echo House. Eichen House.
âDamnâ I was pulled out of the vision and placed my hands on my head.
âHeâs not safe thereâ I whispered out and grabbed my coat, starting to head towards the entrance of the vault. It was then that I watched five pairs of steps enter my vicinity.
Adrenaline immediately filled my heart and I hesitated pulling out my blades before realizing that there was something familiar about the group, then Scott, Allison, Lydia, and the twins appeared in my view.
âI knew youâd be hereâ I relaxed a bit at the sight of my friends, then tensed at the memory of where we were.
âWhat are you doing here?â I questioned and walked forwards.
âWe need your helpâ Allison stated simply. I made a face before replying.
âNo. I mean what are you doing hereâ I gestured to the space around me.
âIn my familyâs secret vaultâ The group turned sheepish at this.
âHow did you even get in?â I questioned and focused my attention on Scott.
âThe entrance was unlocked. Listenâ He walked closer.
âI didnât know where you were. Your dad thought you were with me, I thought you were with your dad, you werenât at Derekâs loft, in the woodsâ He paused and placed his hand on my cheek.
âI thought Stiles had-â He trailed off and started rubbing his thumb against my skin.
âThat still doesnât tell me why you brought them hereâ I spoke while separating my skin from his.
âI didnât thinkâ He replied honestly.
âI was worriedâ My hardened expression softened slightly before turning my attention to the other bodies in the room.
âWhatâs the plan?â
-
I sat hidden behind a police car, watching the armed vehicle, waiting for Allisonâs que. I could feel Scottâs eyes on me as I forced myself to not match sights with him. I bit the inside of my cheek as I focused harder on the task at hand.
Allison lowered her crossbow and turned towards me.
âYouâre upâ She spoke and I nodded slightly in reply. I walked towards the vehicle swiftly and placed the tracker on the vehicle preparing to head back to my friends when the door swung open and my route back was no longer clear. I stayed close to the doors and walked around to the tire, then ducked, trying not to be seen.
I heard Parrish open the passenger door, jump slightly, then turn to the back, only to be rendered unconscious by a mystery creature. I made a face at this and looked to Scott and Allison for a go. Both shook their heads slightly as they stood up and walked closer until they were right behind the man.
The three of us stood in a line, Scott doing the talking, Allison doing the intimidating, and me trying not to get this ordeal over with.
I just had to do this for Scott- Stiles. For Stiles.
It was after negotiations wouldnât be going anywhere that Allison released her crossbow, taking the first shot. There was no holding back from there, Kincaid immediately threw me against the wall before I could block with a shield, forcing me to take time to recover instead of protecting my friends.
I watched through gritted teeth as one by one, my friends were rendered useless, until the twins showed up, trying to save the fight. I took this time pushing myself to stand until the twins were worn out, and it was just Kincaid and I standing.
âI think Iâve heard a lot about youâ He teased.
âLillian Haleâ He looked me up and down.
âItâs a pleasureâ He smiled. I replied by sending energy blasts towards the man, making him weakened enough for me to strike physically. I ran forwards and jumped into the air to punch the wolf in the face, making him fall to the floor. I walked until I was standing above Kincaid and held energy orbs in both hands, ready to disarm until I was stopped.
âStop!â Lydia spoke and stepped closer to me.
âLily! Stopâ Scott yelled from the ground and I snapped my head towards him before reluctantly raising my hands in the air, making my eyes turn back to their natural color.
The twins wanted me to continue, much to Scottâs dismay, but we all listened to the alpha. Eventually Kincaid was left alone and we got the finger and the scroll.
-
Scott eventually coerced me into going back home with him, but not before stopping my Deatonâs to get a loose translation of the scroll which said that one way to get a nogitsune out is to change the body of the host.
âWhich begs the question. How do we change the body of the host?â Deaton asked.
âBy turning it into a werewolfâ Scott answered simply.
After that we quickly said out goodbyes, marinating in this new information which opened doors to possible solutions. Before getting on Scottâs bike, I hesitated by walking a few paces slower than the wolf.
âYou coming?â Scott noticed my reluctance and turned around.
I said nothing as my eyes flickered to the ground below us.
âLil, if you donât want to come back with me, you donât, but itâs always a choice, okay?â Scott spoke softly and hesitated before grabbing my hands.
I said nothing in reply.
âOkay well Iâll-â Scott started walking backwards.
âItâs all my faultâ I whispered out. Scott paused before answering.
âWhat?â Scott walked back so he was right in front of me.
âI shouldâve known. If I hadnât been so stupid I couldâve fixed this before if put Stilesâ life in dangerâ I started raising my voice and continued avoiding eye contact.
âI sat here and I did nothing. I didnât want to believe that he was sick, so I just sat there like an empty shellâ I paused as tears started to well in my eyes and I lifted my head to look at Scott.
âI froze and watched him as he stabbed you with a blade and tortured you so he could take your pain and gain more powerâ Tears were now freely flowing down my cheeks.
âAnd now I donât know what to doâ I lifted my arms in the air and quickly dropped them, swallowing to collect myself for a moment.
âAll that time in the vault and I couldnât find one spell to fix thisâ Scott moved closer and placed his arms around my body.
âWhat are we going to do?â I sobbed into his shoulder.
âI donât knowâ Scott replied honestly while petting the back of my head.
âBut weâll figure it out togetherâ He paused and placed a kiss on the back of my head.
âWeâll be alright. All of usâ He pulled back so I could look him in the eyes.
âI promiseâ He moved his hand to wipe away my tears with his thumb. I smiled slightly and placed my forehead against his, breathing in this moment.
As usual, however, a building pressure resounded in my head and I fought to keep myself standing, relying on Scott for support.
âLily? Whatâs wrong?â Scott was worried and tried hard to get me to look him in the eyes.
Once the pressure evened out, I opened my eyes and stared blankly at the space beside Scottâs head.
All of our eyes slowly turned towards the wire which was now on the ground below, after hearing the words that followed out of my mouth. Both the boys helped me stand as we no rushed down the stairs, trying to see what was happening, only to see that Kira was openly absorbing the energy from the loose cable.
Derek then noticed that Issac was on the ground and rushed towards him. He wasnât breathing.
-
I woke up in the middle of the night, unable to go back to bed. My mind was racing with uncertainty and it was doubled. Wherever Stiles was, he wasnât in control, and he was scared.
Sometime after the sun rose, I swung my legs over the bed so they hung off and rested my head in my hands. I donât know how long I stayed like that until a hand touched my shoulder, and I flinched in response.
âHeyâ I turned my head to look at the boy.
âJust meâ I smiled slightly.
Dad was busy overworking himself at the station, wracking his brain, trying to find Stiles, which wouldâve left me alone overnight, so I opted to spend the night with Scott. We both needed a little comfort right now.
-
The three of us entered the hospital and rose to the floor where Issac was being kept, only to find that Allison had been there all night. No one was allowed to see the boy, no one was his family, but Melissa had a solution to his locked door.
The woman swiped her keycard, allowing the three of us to enter the room. Issac wasnât healing, and he was still in a ton of pain. Scott placed his hand on the boyâs forearm and started taking away his pain, and continued though his breath started getting shaky.
âScottâ The boyâs head snapped towards me and he gently let go of Issac. This wouldnât help him heal, but he wouldnât be in as much pain.
-
Scott talked with Kira, trying to figure out more about the nogitsune, and found out that theyâre tricksters. They do things for the fun of them, but once you piss one off, they become deeply offended. Someone pissed off this nogitsune.
I stood in my science class, working on the problems on the board, when I heard an emitter go off somewhere in the school. I quickly excused myself from the classroom and headed towards the noise. Along the way, a migraine started to form in my temples, but I pressed forward, trying to find the source of the noise.
The sound led me all the way to the basement, where a figure stood at the end of the hallway. He was turned around, so I walked closer, until realization hit my brain.
âStilesâ I whispered out. Three pairs of feet then followed closely behind me, and I didnât have to turn around to guess who they were. The boy then turned around and promised that this was the real Stiles.
The twins didnât seem to believe this, however, as they charged towards the boy, which caused me to turn around and create a shield in front of me. It was too late though, one of the twins had gotten through and shoved me against the lockers, catching my point of weakness. Then, from the floor, I watched as Stiles was held against the wall by his neck, and I furrowed my eyebrows before raising a hand to throw one of the twins against the wall opposite me, Scott aiming to do the same.
The alpha had to resort to forcing obedience from the omegas. After everyone was settled down, Stiles promised once more that he was himself, and he proved it by showing us what he did and what he used.
I pushed myself to stand and watched the conversation take place. After that, we placed all the evidence on the table and tried to make sense of it. We figured out that the nogitsune was planning on doing something with the cross country trail, and we made our way to the spot.
Once there, Stiles stopped everyone from continuing the trail, then reached the ground, to uncover a chain, which connected to nothing. It was only after then, that coach tripped a tripwire, and got himself shot in the abdomen with an arrow. All the students rushed around him as he started to freak out and panic.
We tried to calm him down to no success, which led Aiden to tell everyone to get back, so we could help him. Scott moved to take the Coachâs pain, while Stiles stressed out over the pain he was causing, and how bad the situation couldâve been.
I hesitated for a moment before throwing myself at Stiles and forcing him into a hug, to which he reluctantly accepted.
The ambulance then arrived and took Coach away, Aiden tried to find more evidence which led us to another potential hazard created by Stiles. A bus bomb.
We all rushed to the bus loop, making sure to fill everyone in on the potential threat. Mr. Yukimura spearheaded the evacuation of the area, while Dad made sure that the threat was real. I watched from a safe distance as we were all kept in the dark for now. Stiles passed his weight from one foot to the other while I felt his heart rate peak. The migraine hadnât gone away either.
It was then revealed that the box didnât have a bomb in it, but it wasnât empty. Parrish walked to the front of the bus and held up my dadâs plaque against the window.Â
âThe stationâ I whispered.
âItâs at the stationâ I spoke a little louder, trying to calm my nerves.
-
Once at the station, we saw the damage that the bomb had done. What made it worse, I had family that experienced the damage.
âDerek!â I yelled out and broke free from Scottâs grasp.
âWhat happene-â I looked at both the men.
âWhy are you both here?â I questioned.
âItâs a long storyâ Argent explained.
âAre you okay?â My focus was now completely on the wolf, who had shards of glass sticking out of his back.
âIâll be fineâ He reassured me. I opened my mouth to speak, but was pulled away by Scott.Â
âWe gotta get out of hereâ He pleaded. I turned back around to look at Derek, who nodded gently.
The four of us then made our way to the animal clinic, as it was closer than Scottâs house, but was still lined with mountain ash. It would have to work for the night.
We made it to the building, but it was too late. The Oni had arrived, and they were hungry for a battle. Scott urged Stiles to get inside, and the wolf tried to get me to follow him, I was halfway inside the door as I watched Kira hold her own. I smirked a little and hesitated helping them out when Stiles pulled me inside of the door a little further.
I was about to follow him completely when I felt a tear in my heart. Without thinking, I knew it was Scott, and I broke free from the boyâs grasp to find him with a sword in his abdomen. I used an energy blast to throw the Oni away from him while Kira and Stiles helped the alpha inside. I followed quickly behind and watched as the girl tried to pull the blade out from Scott, but was stopped by Stiles rendering her unconscious.
I ran forward to do something, anything, but was stopped by a simple motion. Stiles lifted his hand up in the air. Scott pleaded for the boy to stop, but he continued and twisted the knife deeper into his body.
âScottâ I stepped closer as my eyes glowed red.
âDonâtâ The boy pleaded. I halted my movements and forced myself to watch as my eyes started to water.
âYou really shouldâve done your reading, Scottâ Stiles teased. He then went on to explain that nogitsunes feed on chaos, strife, and pain. He continued by pointing out that Scott took pain from a lot of people today, and that he would now be feeding on it. Then, he placed his hand on the boyâs cheek and took his pain, but paused, and pulled the blade out from his abdomen.
âButâ He paused.
âEveryone knows that the greatest pain for an alpha, is to go after their mateâ Stiles then turned around to face me and quickly stabbed me in the stomach with the same blade.
âNOâ Scott reached out to stop him, but was stopped by an elbow to the face.
âYou like this?â Stiles leaned closer to my body, my tears mixing in with the rain droplets from before. The nogitsune now twisted the blade in my body, just as he had done to Scott, which caused me to groan out in pain.
âDonât touch her!â He tried to get up again, but was this time stopped by Stilesâ foot.
âWatching your loved ones in pain?â He turned around to tease Scott for a moment, then turned back to me. I could hear Scott yelling out in disagreement but tried to focus on the boy in front of me.
âItâs like a two for oneâ He smiled slightly.
âYouâre in painâ He ran his fingers across my cheek as he rammed the blade in deeper.
âAnd youâre in painâ He turned back around to watch Scott writhing on the floor.
âYou should learnâ He made a face, then turned back to me.
âNot to trust a fox. Theyâre trickstersâ He smiled.
âTheyâll fool you. Theyâll fool everyoneâ He tilted his head cockily before Deaton showed up, and injected something into his neck, making him fall to the floor. I let out a sigh of relief at the disarmament of my brother but groaned silently when Deaton had to pull the blade out of me.
I walked backwards until I hit the wall and slid down until I was sitting on the floor, hands pressed against my wound. Scott tried to find out what Deaton injected into Stiles, while making his way over to me.
âIâm sorryâ He whispered shakily and placed his hand on my cheek.
âItâs not your faultâ I shook my head slightly. Deaton then went on to explain that the fox inside of Stiles had been poisoned, but it was not dead. The boy would be back to himself for a while.
-
âIâm sorryâÂ
âStop apologizingâ I groaned out and sat upright.
âI-I donât know what else to doâ He paused and copied my movements.
âYou keep getting put in dangerâ He hesitated.
âBecause of meâ I shook my head at this and scooted closer to the boy.
âScottâ I placed my hands on his cheeks.
âI am a Hale witch. Something that shouldnât even be possibleâ My eyes widened slightly.
âEven if I werenât with you, Iâd still be in dangerâ I pointed out. Scott paused before replying.
âI knowâ He grabbed onto my hands and placed them into his lap, eyes following them.
âI justâ He paused.
âI love you. And I hate seeing you get hurtâ He paused once more.
âBecause of meâ I scoffed and placed my hands on his shoulders.
âScott. Iâll repeat it as many times as you need to hear itâ I started shaking his shoulders.
âItâs not your faultâ He chuckled at my movements and ran his hand along my cheek.
âI love you tooâ I replied, holding onto his wrist and accepting the kiss that followed soon after.Â
âWeâll get through thisâ I placed my forehead against his.
âWeâll be okayâ I breathed out against his lips.
I could feel myself tossing and turning as my thoughts started to diverge deeper and deeper until my dreams started to feel real. These feelings, Stilesâ feelings, were starting to feel like my feelings.
I woke up with a jolt in a room that was not my own. I was groggy. My vision was having a hard time adjusting. My hand flew up to my head to find that there was something restraining it. My eyes flew to the restraints and found a chain cuff, linking me to the wall. I groaned silently before pushing myself to rest against the wall, and found myself hearing another voice. My vision finally focused enough for me to see the owner of the sound and found myself staring at my brother.
âStiles?â I spoke hoarsely through the air. The boy stopped talking for a moment to reply.
âLily?â Stilesâ breathing calmed slightly. And overwhelming nausea started to overtake me as Stiles continued speaking. I could only barely figure out that Scott was on the other end and my heart rate peaked for a moment at the thought of him before my vision started to blur once more, and I fell into unconsciousness again.
When I woke once more, dropped in the middle of a conversation. A conversation? It seemed that Stiles was talking with another being inside of the room. A being who was covered in bandages, and had metal teeth. The being talked about trying to save us. Both of us.
The conversation then continued, as my shivers started getting more intense, and the figure started speaking riddles towards us.
âEveryone has it, but no one can lose itâ Neither of us knew the answer. The figure got more and more upset until he screamed in my brotherâs face, causing me to hide my face and close my eyes tightly. I stayed still as I heard my brotherâs screams get farther and farther away, causing my insides to fill up with grief.
Usually I wouldâve jumped to take a bullet for my Stiles, but now, more than every, I felt hopeless. Like I was unable to move, speak, or breathe, and my actions showed this.
The silence filled the room until I heard a voice speak out to me.
âLilianâ I squeezed my eyes tighter and struggled to move my body.
âThis is Agent McCall. Youâre safeâ My mind sparked with interest suddenly. Agent McCall. McCall. Scott McCall. My Scott. My eyes jolted open and I slowly moved my head to look at the owner of the voice. It was indeed Agent McCall. I looked back at my hand and noticed there was no chain attached. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
My breath shook slightly as I went against my instincts and reached my hand out to match his, only to be met with gently hands surrounding my body, helping me exit the⌠den?
Once out, I was met with worried Melissa, working to calm Stiles. I turned back to the owner of the warm hands keeping me standing, only to confirm that it was Agent McCall.
âYouâre okayâ He looked at me, then Melissa.
âYou both areâ
-
I couldnât sleep. Not once we got to the hospital. Not when I was given sedation. Not when I knew what was going on inside of my head. Not when I knew what was going on inside of Stilesâ head. The nurses checked the two of us out quickly, allowing us to rest.
Soon after we were left alone, Dad entered the room, rushing to give us both a hug. He tried to reassure us that we would be okay, but I was full of doubt.
âYour friends are outside. Want me to send them in?â He questioned gently. I pondered for a moment before answering.
âScottâ I paused.
âCan I see Scott?â I questioned while looking up at the man.
âYeah kiddoâ He ruffled my hair gently.
âIâll send him inâ He spoke.
âJust donât wake your brother upâ My head turned towards the boy. I nodded in reply.
I sat on my bed silently, staring out the window at the stars lining the sky and breathed out silently. I continued doing this calming motion until the door opened, and the boy I had been waiting for walked through.
âWhy arenât you asleep?â I shrugged slightly in reply to which he made a face.
I smiled softly at the sight of him and accepted his embrace once he got close enough.
âIâm sorryâ He whispered.
âFor what?â I questioned as we pulled apart.
âI donât know, I just-â He paused, and I moved to motion him to lay beside me.
âIf I hadnât heard you on that phone call, I wouldnât have even known that you were missing and the fact that you had to go through that without-â
âScottâ I placed my hand on his cheek.
âIâm okay. Itâs not your faultâ He placed his hand over mine and brought it to his chest.
âYou donât get it. Itâs like I canât live without you. I canât breathe, I canât focus, nothing I do would matter if I didnât get to see you at the end of the dayâ He paused to kiss the hand he was holding.
âYou donât think the mate bond goes both waysâ I teased and smiled slightly. He chuckled softly before returning to a serious demeanor.
âIâm sorry I had you worried, but Iâm fine nowâ I promised.
âWeâre okay nowâ Scott sighed at this and placed his forehead against mine. We stayed like this for a moment before we pulled apart, and the boy moved to make both him and me more comfortable. I laid my head on his chest, relaxing from the rising and falling of his chest as I watched my brother sleep.
âIâm worried about him thoughâ Scott looked down at me, then at the other bed in the room.
âI wasnât there because of meâ The boy tried to calm me further by tracing patterns along my back gently.
âI was there because of our connectionâ I sighed and sunk further into Scottâs arms, which tightened its grip on me slightly.
-
I was woken up by movement from the boy underneath me. When he noticed my sudden consciousness, he placed a kiss on my forehead with his hand cupped behind my head before speaking.
âI gotta get to schoolâ He explained.
âAre you gonna be okay?â He questioned and paused his movements.
âYeahâ I pushed myself to sit.
âOkayâ Scott sat up next to me and cupped my cheek before speaking again.
âCall me if you need anythingâ His eyes flickered between mine. I nodded in reply. The boy stood and pulled on his jacket and paused before speaking again.
âIâll be back later. Theyâre supposed to be running tests on Stiles all afternoonâ He explained. I nodded once more in reply. Scott stepped closer to me and leaned down to give me a kiss.
âBye Lilâ
âBye Scottâ
-
The day went by quickly. I mostly droned about, watching whatever show would pop up on the tv while nurses would come in every couple of hours to take our vitals. Stiles slept most of the time, only waking up to eat or pee.
When two oâclock hit, the tests started. They were simple at first, which meant they could be done inside of the room, that was until it was time for the MRI, and I was brought back to a moment I had with Melissa.
Scott arrived just in time as Stiles and I were moved to the testing room and gave me a quick hug in greeting.
Stiles sat on the machine as the doctor explained what would be happening, and dad assured him that we would be on the other side of the wall, then left him alone with Scott and I.
Stiles explained what his mother had, and that that was what they were looking for. Something with no cure. Both of us assured him that if he had something, we would both do something about it, which led to a long hug containing the three of us.
âI love you big broâ Stiles chuckled at this cheesy nickname and smiled when I pulled away.
-
Before we exited the room, Scott forced me to put on his jacket, assuring me that this was the only way heâd let me stay outside of my room. If I had his flimsy canvas jacket on. Once in the hallway, we were met with Derek, who rushed at the sight of me to hug me tightly.
âWhy doesnât anyone tell me what happensâ He lifted his hands up in defeat before speaking again.
âAre you okay?â He looked down at me. I nodded in reply. Scott gently grabbed my hand to pull me to sit as the two boys started to converse. The conversation was simple and vague as Derek explained that Kira jump started the nogitsune inside of Stiles. The conversation then ended with a realization. Stiles was trying to protect everyone else.
And with that, the three of us rushed to the roof, trying to find signs of struggle. We ended up finding a tool bag which led our vision to a gnawed out wire. It continued sparking until it broke in two and started flailing about the sky.
My vision blurred and a sharp pain sent me crashing to the ground.
âLilyâ I felt a hand on my lower back. I screamed out in pain before letting out labored breaths.
âItâs Stilesâ I paused before looking up at the two men.

After confirming that everyone was okay, Scott and I followed Issac and Allison to the Argentâs apartment, to learn more about the figures from someone who had seen them before. Before the explanation fully began, however, we noticed that the figures hadnât gone for everyone, they only came after the werewolves and Lydia.
Argent explained that during his first gun deal, it was supposed to be a simple exchange, but as soon as the sun set, the figures arrived, carrying straight swords dark as night. It was a bloodbath. Issac questioned if the buyers were marked, but they werenât searching around the bodies, the went straight for a certain man, who turned out to be supernatural.
We didnât know what he mightâve been, but Argent knew someone who might. Katashi, or Silverfinger: because of an unusual prosthetic. And better yet, he was in the country.
-
All of that information had to sit back in our minds, however, because we were still kids. We had an education to get.
I sat behind Scott on his motorcycle, with my hands clasped tightly around his waist. I watched my surroundings pass by me quickly drowsily until two more vehicles surrounded us on either side. My head snapped from one boy to the other before rolling my eyes as we made our way into the schoolâs parking lot.
Scott turned his head to look towards me after taking his helmet off, then speaking. The three boys had a short conversation about keeping Scott safe, yet the boy persisted that he didnât need protection.
âBoth of youâ Ethan spoke.
âThey were looking right at you two when the sun came upâ Aiden explained. I made a face before pointing out that they disappeared. Scott explained Argentâs theory: that they only came out at night. They boys disregarded our words and persisted.
Scott quickly interlaced my fingers with his as he told the boys his plan to talk to Stiles, then we set that plan into motion. The boy led the two of us into our science classroom before explaining all the evidence he found, which conveniently disappeared. He was convinced that he was after Barrowâs movements. Scott and I exchanged worried glances as the solution was forced upon the boy: to go home and rest.
We didnât get to tell Stiles the events of last night, but we confirmed that we werenât the only subjects left to be marked. Kira.
-
âHey, I did my part, but Iâm gonna have to bailâ I spoke to the boy.
âWait, why?â Scott questioned.
âStiles ended up going to the hospital. Iâm just going to go check up on himâ I explained. Scott made a face, then pulled me into his arms.
âKeep me updatedâ He pleaded.
âYou tooâ I pulled back.
âKira understands. The twins wonât be a problemâ I teased before reaching into my backpack and pulling out what I assumed to be crucial parts. Scott chuckled, then kissed my forehead in a quick goodbye before we went our separate ways.
âJust make it back to me before nighttimeâ Scott held onto my hand when I moved to walk away.
I didnât speak, but nodded instead, before squeezing the boyâs hand and walking away.
-
Once I reached the hospital, I found Melissa, standing right outside Stilesâ door holding onto a folder carefully, highlighting certain parts.
âMelissa? Is everything okay?â She flinched at the sound but her eyes softened once she saw who the voice belonged to. She hesitated before nodding her head for me to follow her.
I walked slightly behind her until we ended up in the medical records room, where Melissa then explained her theory: Stiles was developing the same disease that his mother had.
âIâm sorry Lillianâ Melissa tried.
âWe donât know this for sure yetâ I shook my head and avoided eye contact. Melissa didnât say anything, but offered me a sympathetic look instead.
Noticing my sudden drop in mood, the woman tried to comfort me and apologized for crossing boundaries in the first place. I quickly stopped her attempts.
âItâs not your faultâ I shook my head, looking down at the floor.
âTruth be told, I had a feeling the cause mightâve been geneticâ I chuckled to myself as a tear fell from my eye. Melissa made a face and wrapped her arms around mine and I allowed myself to be embraced.
âWhy donât you head back home with me, my shift is almost up and we can watch a movie or something. I can see the toll your brother is having on youâ She pulled back to look me in the eye.
âI know your dad is trying hard to keep it together, butâŚâ She trailed off when she saw my face.
âNo, itâs not that, itâs just⌠Scott has a different planâ I smiled slightly.
âHardly stress freeâ

The drive back to the McCall house was filled with an explanation, as I noticed that Scott hadnât informed his mother what would be taking place at their residence tonight. When we entered the building, however, we were met with a standoff, between Agent McCall and Scott and Kira.
The parents tried to diffuse the situation, but the three of us could only notice how dark it was getting. Then, a figure caught the older McCallâs eye. My eyes flickered to where his were focused on, and I silently watched as he got closer and closer, until he was stabbed mercilessly by the creature, causing uproar from the group.
The figure moved to begin a fight, until the door opened with a burst, a transformed Derek following quickly after. The two wolves and the figure fought hard until another figure appeared, causing me to pull Kira away from it, as two more wolves arrived: Aiden and Ethan.
Kira looked up at me for any source of guidance but was met with wandering eyes instead. I knew Kira would be fine if I left her to help my friends, but I knew that they would be fine, as Melissa had just dropped the mountain ash, successfully trapping the figures outside of the house.
Kira curiously walked towards the barrier after stepping out from behind me, then raised her hand towards the barrier, only for it to be successful towards her. I took that as a cue to walk towards Scott and placed my hand on his shoulder, confirming that he was unharmed. He gave me a look of relief, seeing that I was okay, until I turned to Derek.
âAnd where did you come from?â I made a face. The man simply explained that he had been following him all day, and me for part of it as well. He then walked away, leaving Scott and I to look at each other curiously.
âLily! Scott, this isnât goodâ The two of us moved quickly to follow Melissaâs voice, to be met with her and her ex on the floor, barely lucid. Melissa explained the extent of his issues and confirmed that he had to get to a hospital, or he wouldnât make it. We were trapped in here until the sun rose.
âLilyâ Melissa got my attention away from the wound.
âCan you help?â She questioned.
âY-You mean-â I raised my hands in question. She nodded quickly and let out a shaky breath once I moved closer to the man. Scott and I exchanged a look before he exited the room and I began my work. It felt like ages since I had healed someone, and it showed. Though this process was more efficient than anything that could happen inside of an OR, it was not the fastest I had done it, but it would do.
I stayed focused until a rumbling shook the house unsteadily. I paused and looked at the blue tinge that now colored the window.
âYouâre okayâ Melissa promised.
âWeâre okayâ She looked at me then at the man on the floor. Who continued speaking vague questions at what I was doing.
âI need to talk to Scottâ He looked at me, then Melissa.
âHear my wordsâ I continued as my eyes shone a little brighter.
âYou are going to be okayâ He tried to believe my words, but struggled.
-
After we got Agent McCall to the hospital, Scott and I searched for Stiles, but I could tell he wasnât doing so while being focused.
âYou havenât been checked yetâ He spoke aloud.
âYou think Iâm the nogitsune?â I questioned as I continued searching the rooms for my brother.
âNo, Iâm just worriedâ He admitted.
âBecause you think Iâm the nogitsune?â I asked again, but was stopped when we turned the corner, coming face to face with the oni.
âMaybe I am the nogistuneâ I made a face as I grabbed Scottâs hand out of instinct.
âYouâre going to be okayâ He promised as the Oni got closer and cupped my cheek, causing Scott to jump backwards and let go of my hand.
I stared into those bright firefly green eyes which greatly contrasted the cold empty feeling inside of my chest until suddenly, I was dropped to the floor, and was caught by warm hands.
âI got youâ Scott whispered as he lowered me onto his lap. The boy ran his hand through my hair as I shivered and reached for his other hand.
âCheckâ I looked into his eyes before resting my forehead on his chest, allowing him to look behind my ear. He didnât say anything, which caused me to look up at him curiously. He hesitated.
âIt doesnât say selfâ He explained.
âBut surely if you were the nogitsune they wouldâve gone after you. They wouldnât have just left you here, right?â He questioned and instinctively pulled me closer to his body while ranting.
âIf we can just get back to Argent, maybe heâll be able to tell us-â
âNoâ I spoke against his body.
âWe get to Stiles firstâ I pulled back to look him in the eyes. I could tell that he wanted to argue, but he nodded anyways and helped me to my feet.
We eventually made it to Stiles, who was standing by his lonesome in an operating room. He looked at the two of us in surprise before joining us so we could explain the events of today.
The five of us sat in my dadâs office, being interrogated by a different man, Scottâs father. The man continued questioning us as Stiles kept giving vague answers, causing my father and I to make eye contact and chuckle.
âStiles, just, uhâ I scratched the back of my head to play it off.
âJust answer the manâ My father spoke.
âWe made a good guessâ Stiles answered.
âWhat were the two of you doing?â Agent McCall asked. I looked up from my fingers to see his eyes flickering between Scott and I.
âNothingâ
âHanging outâ Scott and I both spoke. I winced slightly trying to keep firm eye contact with the man. The two adults then discussed for a moment which caused us the be trusted enough to leave, but not without Kiraâs phone- it was evidence.
-
âAre we seriously going to school?â I questioned while entering the vehicle.
âWho knows, maybe they have power by nowâ Stiles tried to stay hopeful and turned his key into the ignition.
âWell we wouldnât know anyways, would weâ I made a face.
-
âGo aheadâ I gestured towards the school.
âIâll catch up with youâ I smiled slightly towards Stiles as he shrugged slightly and entered the building.
âNo worries Lilian, youâll be okayâ I took a deep breath in.
âItâs not like thereâs a serial killer on the looseâ I paused.
âor like your brother came back from the dead a month agoâ I whispered.
âYou got thisâ I worked hard to keep my head up as I entered the building.
âYouâre a freaking hale. Mate to an alphaâ I kept speaking. I paused when I noticed Stiles and Scott speaking to one another by the lockers, but my eyes drifted towards Kira, who didnât notice me. My eyes flickered between the two locations until I made a decision and started walking.
âHiâ
âHeyâ The girl jumped slightly and smiled at me.
âHow are you-â I paused, hearing two boys urge me to stop talking to Kira. I chuckled under my breath before continuing.
âWhat is it?â Kira made a face.
âNothingâ I tried to recover and painted an expression onto my face.
âI just wanted to see if you were alrightâ I paused.
âNot just physically, butâ I placed an arm on her shoulder.
âemotionallyâ She hesitated.
âYou can trust meâ Her eyes left mine to look at the boys behind me.
âYou can trust them tooâ I reassured and turned to watch the boys pretend like they werenât listening in.
âHereâ I grabbed onto the girlâs hand and led her to an empty classroom, making sure to turn my body towards the door to place a silencing spell onto it.
âJust usâ I made sure to keep my distance now that we werenât in a public area. Kira then went on to talk about the absurdity of yesterday, and asked me to take a picture of her, which showed an aura surrounding her body. She then explained that Barrow knew about this trait of hers and that her phone- which was at the station- contained these photos.
âWe have to get your phone backâ
-
âIâll do itâ Scott stated.
âWhat?â I questioned.
âNo, Iâll do itâ The boy turned back to face me.
âLily, I get that you can take care of yourself,â He placed his hand onto my cheek.
âBut yesterday, I saw you get hit by a billion wattsâ I grabbed onto his wrist as his thumb rubbed over my cheek.
âI donât want you to get hurtâ He admitted.
âScott, itâs a police station, not a vampire cultâ I pointed out. He said nothing and kept his stern expression. It seemed to be a standoff between the two of us. I made a face and pursed my lips as the boy only persisted until I gave in.
âFineâ I groaned out and threw my arms up in defeat.
âWhateverâ I rolled my eyes as the boy held my head and placed a kiss on my forehead.
This time I kept my stern expression as I watched Stiles explain all the card entries to the station to the pair. He didnât steal them, he cloned them.
âJust think of it this wayâ Stiles started.
âDadâs job is that much more saferâ I sighed and looked up from my hands.
âI knowâ I slumped further into my seat.
âWhat?â I questioned when I noticed Stiles messing with a key on his keychain.
âNothingâ He seemed to hesitate before answering and tucked the keys back into his pocket. I made a face before relaxing, until the two of us noticed that Scottâs father had arrived. We didnât have enough time to inform Scott at the pace the man was entering the building.
We ran into the building and in front of the man as Stiles instigated the banter meant to distract. Stiles brought up a key point in Barrowâs case which Agent McCall already knew, because our father brought it up. This caused a comment to fall out of the elderâs mouth, setting off a string of digs from Stiles, which actually seemed to mess with him.
âStilesâ I placed a hand on his shoulder as he turned to look at me sadly, before we exited the building. Moments later, Kira and Scott exited as well, having completed the mission.

After the mission was a success, Scott decided to take Kira to a party, wanting to become closer to the girl full of mysteries.
âYou sure?â Scott asked.
âYeahâ I brushed a hand through my hair.
âIâm just not feeling like partying tonightâ I admitted.
âYou have fun thoughâ I smiled at him and then my eyes flickered to Kira, who smiled back at me.
I was actually feeling okay about how the night had gone, that was until I learned that the party was taking place at Derekâs loft.
âNo wayâ I spoke aloud as I jolted out of bed and put on a sweatshirt to get ready to leave.
âDadâ I called.
âIâm leaving, Iâll be back laterâ I continued and waited for an answer that never came.
âHuhâ I made a face and paused before taking a deep breath and portaling to Derekâs compound. I looked up at the building and stared at the flashing lights before noticing some dark figures on my cousinâs balcony.
âWhat the-â My instincts then kicked into full gear as a silent scream rang through the air and I watched who I thought was Lydia, fall to the ground. I struggled to breathe as I blinked and found myself next to said girl, who was now on the ground.
âLydiaâ I dropped down to my knees and swallowed to catch my breath.
âSomebody help!â I looked up and yelled before focusing my attention back onto the girl below me.
âLydiaâ I placed my hands on the girlâs cheeks.
âWhat happened?â I was met with silence and no eye contact as two figures arrived, Aiden and Danny.
âSheâs freezingâ Aiden spoke alarmed. The three of us then took her inside as Aiden held on to the girl in front of the heating vent, Danny went to look for some blankets. I dropped down onto the ground next to her and looked around before making eye contact with the boy.
âDo itâ He whispered.
âLydiaâ I placed her head into my palms as my eyes glowed a faint red.
âLook at meâ I pleaded, until I was sucked into her feelings, her memory- dark figures, came out of the shadows, cold, soulless. There was something familiar about it though, something familial? I tried to process the images as I was pulled back into my own head, jumping backwards, hearing a roar from- Derek?
Chaos then seemed to occur, as guests started leaving the room, a handful of us being left five dark, cold, soulless figures. I pushed myself to my feet as Aiden gave Lydia to Danny, making him exit with everyone else. All the figures then turned towards Aiden and I.
âGuys, theyâre all looking at usâ The boy pointed out, which made me step a few steps away. They kept their gazes locked on Aiden.
âTheyâre looking at youâ Aiden gave me a pleading look so I walked back slightly in front of the boy and created blades in my hand as I prepared to fight.
âLilyâ My eyes flickered towards Scott, before returning to the figures, who had taken a step forward.
âWhy are they all looking at me?â They kept walking forwards, until finally, Scott made the first move, urging me to follow, quickly noticing that these creatures really were soulless, creatures of the night, just figures. Just figures?
I watched, one by one, as my cousin, me, and my boyfriend fell to the ground, effectively disarmed by the figures. They seemed to be content, until Issac threatened the group, making a sword appear from one of their insides. The beta then faltered as the figure continued to threaten.
âSomeone do somethingâ Allison called out.
I smiled slightly at the sight and created a portal from the ground to one of the pillars, allowing me to rest my weight on it as I mustered up some more courage. I took a deep breath, earning strength from the sight of my loved ones on the ground and forced my knives to enter my hands once more. I pushed myself off of the wall in front of the figure once more.
I held my own and maybe even could have defeated the figures, but I lost my focus, my thoughts were washing away, my mind wasnât filled with my own feelings anymore, and when I arrived back to me, I was on the floor groaning in pain from the impacts. I looked up to see Scott looking at me worridly, then to Aiden, who was now being held, and eventually marked by the figures, just before they disappeared from the sunlight.
Scott immediately pushed himself off of the floor and gave me a one over, before placing his hands on my cheeks and pressing his forehead against mine.
âYou okay?â He whispered against my lips. I nodded in reply as he pulled back to look at me once more.
âWhat the hell were those things?â Scott moved to help me up as his question left a silence in the air.
I saw Issac say something to Allison, though I couldnât focus on the words specifically, to which he then explained to us Mr. Argentâs supposed connection with the masked figures.
