In May of 2008, 18-year-old Joshua Vernon Maddux disappeared from his family home in Woodland, Colorado. His family had always believed that he had ran off to start a new life. They explained that he had been unhappy for a number of years due to the suicide of his older brother. That was the general belief until 7 years later, when his mummified body was discovered in an abandoned cabin located near his home. It was revealed that he had attempted to get into the cabin by climbing down the chimney and became lodged. His knees got stuck above the head and his legs were detached from his torso.
