Halloween's not just one day, right? 🎃👻
As much as I adore a crisp winter morning - clear blue skies, golden sunshine, and a hard frost sparkling across the ground -there’s something so captivating about the rich, warm colours of this season. 🍂
If only we could blend the refreshing chill of winter with autumn’s breathtaking palette, we’d have the perfect season. ❄️🍁
We've sent out some gorgeous colour combinations this week 🧡💜💙💚💛
On occasion - at least 'back-in-the-day' - being asked for blue flowers at certain times of the year could cause a dilemma. There are still times when blue isn't as readily available, however in recent years the growers have been doing their best to provide us with something all-year-round.
Pale blue though can still present an issue; not in this past week though, which is good because several customers have asked for us to use as 'much pale blue as possible'. I think we pulled it off :)

One-hundred-and-eighty!
We are back open and raring to go. I haven't had chance to sort out the photographs from the orders we've sent out today so here's one from earlier in April.
This is a cross-section of a floral tribute; the customer asked us to add in the home-made chickens as it was personal to their loved one and I was more than happy to include them.
I hope they brought a smile to peoples faces on the day. They certainly brought one to mine.
Beautiful flowers for a beautiful lady 🥰
One of my most loyal and original customers, from when I first opened the shop, passed away last month. He had many hobbies but also took pride in breeding and caring for Gouldian Finch
It was a foregone conclusion his family would ask me to create one in flowers 😬
It was an honour to be trusted with such a personal tribute.
A huge Thank You to everyone who supported us this weekend and trusted us with the orders for your Mum's, Grandmother's and Aunt's this weekend. I am grateful to each and everyone of you.
To the young lady who witnessed the abusive man - he came in last minute and wasn't happy I had nothing left to sell - don't let him put you off in your persuance of becoming a florist yourself. He's just one of many you will encounter throughout the year, none of whom are worth a second-thought.

I absolutely loved making this bouquet 💙💙💙
Not the most budget-friendly of orders but (to me at least) it was simply exquisite.
For a funeral service last week I was asked to create a garden fork - similar to the one on the website which I made several years ago - this time with some Dahlia. They are not in season but I was lucky to source some arftificial which blended in perfectly.
A customer came to me a few weeks ago wanting a floral tribute. Her Dad had told her specifically what he wanted but she was unsure if she would be able to create it herself - something she really wanted to do - so she asked if it would be ok for me to help her create it. I was happy to & the sunset her Dad wanted came into being.
The stars are the pegasus constellation, an idea from Chris who knew the gentleman liked horses.A sunset sky with a bright yellow half sun sitting just above the horizon with shades of red, orange and gold emanating from it across the background of a dark sky; the pegasus star constellation sparkles through, with wisps of purple highlighted clouds drifting in from the east. In the foreground are hills, their silhouette as dark as the sky, with a few trees dotted along the landscape. This whole scene has been created with flowers - white chrysanthemum, pistache foliage and gypsophylla, along with multiple cans of floral spray paint.
A tribute I was tasked with creating a few weeks back for an F1 fan.
What is it worth?

Selling my soul to the devil was not on my plan for today, however, it transpires facebook really is a good local business tool, so until someone comes up with a better alternative I've had to start a new page.
Likes and shares if you're still on there would be appreciated.
I feel a little as though I have sold my soul to the devil, however, it transpires facebook really is a sensible business tool. Please fee
On this very day nineteen-years ago we opened the doors to our very first shop. Nervous, excited and terrified in equal measures we were also filled with a confidence that only comes from having the courage to take the leap in the first place.
At times, many, many, many times we have considered if we should have stopped ourselves, remembered the idea was born from a very drunken night out, and carried on as we were - pretty sure Clive thinks that still on a daily (almost hourly) basis - however, here we are all those years later still plodding along.
Don't get me wrong it has not been, is not, easy by any means. The team of florists we planned to have within a few years never became a reality - it's still just me with Chris helping out with deliveries - the shop moved to new premises that were half the size of the original (I do prefer where we are now though) and my salary has risen by just 39p per hour - a lot to some of you but that still only takes my currently hourly rate to £3.64; I don't get paid for overtime either!). As a limited company we have yet to take a dividend as many directors of such businesses are able to, but I would not change a single thing. Each day is an absolutely blessing for me to be able to be here, doing what I do. I never take it for granted and know just how lucky I am - thanks again to Clive and his wife for allowing him to give up so much of his family time to help me out when needed.
I've been at the very start of romance inceptions, supplying flowers for first dates, right through the engagement, wedding and babies being born with some of my customers. This isn't just a job to us, it's about being part of a community and I honoured that so many people have allowed us to share in their moments with them. The good, sad and downright crazy.
I wasn't sure which photo's to share with this post as it transpires I have made somewhere in the region of 180000 - yes, that's one hundred and eighty thousand - items since 2006. Those range from just a single gerbera tied with some foliage, to a full on battleship complete with turrets and wire railings. There have been smurfs, voodoo dolls, sausage dogs, boobies!!!!, football crests and chocolate bars. In the end I have decided to share just a few images from bits made this week, including one which has been delivered this morning that included some daffodils - it is also St David's day today.
I hope the shop is still here in another nineteen-years (although by then it would be nice to have retired myself) and we will continue to do all we can to make it happen. We've already ridden out a recession, a pandemic, where unlike many other businesses we didn't receive a single penny from the government, and the current cost-of-living-crisis we are all going through. I will be honest with you though; if my lottery numbers do finally come up you won't see me for dust :) We all know that's not true either as I could never let down a customer so I would keep working until all future orders had been fulfilled.
Thank you for every single person who has trusted us over the years with their special orders.
