That’s the exact way the Monster wants you to feel. Humiliation is just fear wearing a pretty dress. It thinks if it can make you feel small and silly, you’ll run away. You’ll hide. You’ll beg for mercy.

But the thing is, you’re not just a target. You’re a human being. And human beings? They have nerve endings. They have sensations.

You call it stupid.

The t monster will call it the most natural thing in the world. To feel a sensation so intense it makes you gasp, to feel your toes curl so tight they look like they might snap, to feel the laughter bubling up before you even know what's happening... that isn't stupid. That’s torture.

It’s torture to feel everything. And the Monster just wants to make you feel it all at once.
