at some point during production, kristen stewart, who was 20-21 at the time, slept with director rupert sanders, who was 39-40 at the time. given not only the 19 year age difference and the fact that he was her boss and therefore in an extreme position of power over her, there were obviously some fucked up power dynamics there, even if she did consent. kristen was single at the time; sanders was married.

when the tabloids got a hold of this, they fucking crucified kristen. she was actively and vocally slut shamed by pretty much everyone, even though she was a kid whose (married) boss fucked her. she was fired from the sequel and didn’t work for almost a year. i also think she was paid less than her contract had demanded for the film.

sanders, meanwhile, was kept on as director of the sequel, leaving only when the script went into rewrites to write out kristen’s character and there was a scheduling conflict with another film he was already signed on to do.
