“What are you thinking, tadpole?”  There’s a gleam in Rain's eyes that Ifrit doesn’t like; something stirring there in the translucent cerulean that feels impending and catastrophic, like leaning over the bow of a ship and glimpsing movement in the depths below. They're treading into uncharted territory, chasing depths that Ifrit has only ever come to know in legends. Winding catacombs and murky rivers of black leading them from one cruel riddle to the next, and now, abandoned by Bell, their path forward is uncertain. Their luck is sure to run out, peril will undoubtedly find them. Except that Rain seems to welcome it. He stands at the precipice of each new, exhaustive horror with an air of nobility, as though gazing upon a kingdom yet to be claimed. It sends a shiver down Ifrit’s spine, not because Rain craves this power, but because he might succeed in taking it.
