Made all the worse when Pascal called her out on it. "Oh, no, um... It isn't quite what you think, I mean..." Back home everyone else knew of her situation. She was actually proud of that part of herself, but in a foreign land she had been overly worried about being judged. Pascal pocketing the feather didn't help. She didn't know it, but that was like pocketing one of her hairs.

what's so freakout-worthy about it? she supposes molting would be a teensy bit awkward, but it's not like someone as messy as pascal has any right to judge. more importantly, falin's still falin when it comes down to it, right? in a way, the feathery pelt actually suits her-- a soft feature for a soft lady.

"i dunno why you'd hide 'em like that. they're pretty," she's nothing if not honest. worse yet, she leans forward to inspect falin's neck up close, her gaze springing to the other's face with an intrigued, cat-like look-- the sort curious felines make right before knocking something over. "can i touch 'em? i wanna know how they feel!"

"Someone is sticking out like a sore thumb~." But this strange lady didn't need someone like Magnolia to tell her that. SHE looks like she's very well aware of just how much she sticks out in the fancier parts of Fibonacci. Magnolia fits RIGHT in. Like the perfect glove. Don't ask where she's got this beautiful purple dress and don't ask where she's got this expensive jewelry.

She stole them.

she's none the wiser to any stolen articles or schemes, of course. everything suits the lady to a T (although her nonchalant attitude toward sneaking would be a red flag to pretty much anyone else). no, pascal's sole issue is the oppressive thing on her neck!

✤ Falin could be a little scatterbrained sometimes. She was always focused far more intently on the people and things around her than on herself, and so if her appearance became disheveled over the course of the day she didn't really noticed unless it was in plain sight or if someone pointed it out to her.

She seemed flustered when Pascal reached up to pull something out of her hair. Not only because she hadn't expected it, though it wasn't surprising that Pascal would do it without warning. But what she'd plucked out? That white feather? That was one of hers.

flustered falins, on the other hand? she sees that a ton (can't miss it thanks to her cutesy, pink cheeks), but this instance seems different. like a flash of panic, almost?

huh. did pascal... do something she shouldn't have? the amarcian frowns-- slight, but noticeably concerned. oblivious as she tends to be, her eye for detail makes it easy to pick up on cues like that when she's actually paying attention. she just has a difficult time pinpointing the reasons behind them, that's all!

Being an adventurer and not knowing what a cleric was seemed to confuse her a bit though. "Oh, it's just a classification that alludes to the type of magic I specialize in. Healing, warding off spirits, that sort of thing..." Only to wince a moment later as Pascal smacked the boiler with her staff.

more importantly, now that she's calmed down and her mind isn't stuck on fixing mechanical problems, she can finally give falin her completely-undivided, infinitely-grateful attention. for one, she said she's a magical healer, right? that's pretty amazing... pascal's only good for punchy, damage-heavy stuff.

"but hey, thanks for worrying! heh," her sheepish head-scratching lasts a mere second before she springs right back to full attention, "waitaminute, forget that! i wanna go down there because it's a giant, unfamiliar chasm in a strange city! i mean, it's prolly important if that's the drop-off point for newbies, yeah? like, ancient ruins..? a satellite..? erm, hypothesis pending."

In that case it would be better to keep an eye on her herself, right? Not that she could really tell if what was being done was bad or not.

Before she knew it she was helping with this and that, trying her best to not get in the way. It was obvious that all she was capable of doing was menial physical tasks but it always felt nice to be helpful. There wasn't a lot of small talk though, it was almost like she was invisible to her until she seemingly recalled Falin's presence.

pascal wipes the sweat from her brow with a 'phew' not too long after, her grease-stained gloves leaving a streak behind. the boiler just needs one last kick, so... she whips out her staff and gives it a solid thwack! in retrospect, a warning might've been nice (especially while under suspicion of being an explosive pyromaniac), but the machine falls into a steady thrum moments later. success!

"Why does this keep happening to me?" Might as well not leave the other on read...

it's camera-shaped, that much is obvious. she taps it, expecting the screen to reflect her immediate surroundings, but instead... "WAH! i-it's me!?" one fumble causes her to accidentally take a picture, and another to full-on send it, her reaction exposed to ludger in all its wild-eyed, goofy glory.
