I don't know how to start this so I'm just gonna let my words flow. I recently started my 3rd play through if sonic x shadow generations. (with the goal to 100% it this time.) And theres a moment that really stick out to me and I want to nerd out a bit.
Ā Ā Ā In shadows area, after you unlock doom morph, you travel into the little underground? area. (it's in like the little mountainside thing) When you get there with your boss keys, and if you're me a lot of practice with doom morph after falling 5 hundred times, the door opens and the boss is revealed. Mephiles.
Ā Ā Ā I'm a big sonic fan in general, and in some cases enjoyer of games most dislike for varying reasons (06, forces), but of all the games bosses old and new, that's the part that sticks out to me.
Ā Ā Ā The scene itself has so much care. scepter floating in the middle of an old stone chamber. Mephiles trying the attack he used in Sonic 06, the one that technically succeeded, sonic was dead for a bit after all, on shadow and shadow just dodges.
I originally played the game about a week or two after it's release. I didn't know what I was getting going into it and started with shadows campaign because it was new. You get through yiur first couple bosses (metal overlord and biolizard) you get your controls. Get radical highway and all that. It's a joy. It's fun. It's challenging. Then I got that door unlocked.
The opening shot of the cutscene, I remember out loud saying, "what is that?" when I say the dark scepter, and then after a moment thinking. "there is no way."
I actually paused it and took a moment. Because I was so excited. As a villain, I adore mephiles. I love the story behind him and his motivation. Iblis being his other destructive half, and now it's just him.
The scepter explodes and he tries that same old attack. And the boss fight is amazing. (partly due to better controls, no shade to 06, I enjoy that game) and the details they added to the chamber and mephiles. Set up. His final words. "no... I want... To exist..." and shadows cold response. I know I'm really late on this, but I've been thinking about it lately. And on a game that could have gone halfway on remaking (generations) and an add on we weren't expecting before it's announcement, I think it was done in such loving way

First off, heās a literal God, or I guess technically half a god but weāll get to that. His his reasoning isnāt āI want controlā itās mortals literally ripped me apart. Iām no longer whole. They are going to pay. And he follows through on that.
Secondly, his story has a sort of irony to it. He was splitting too by the people of Soleanna, and his other half, the flames of disaster, iblis, were sealed inside of the kingās, the man who authorized the experiments that split a time God in two, daughter. Princess Elise isnāt the goal because sheās convenient. Sheās the goal because she literally houses a piece of a split God. And from a story standpoint he doesnāt care. About sonic. About shadow. About silver. He killed sonic, like legitimately dead, because he needs Elise to cry. Thatās it.
Furthermore, back to the point he killed sonic. Iām not saying the animation was great, but sonic was dead and he did it in like three days, versus Eggmanās several years of attempts.
Thereās also how heās designed. Heās imposing. I like how they used shadows and darkness in his attacks and his design, I mean, he literally travels through shadow the hedgehog shadow at one point, which explains how he looks in the beginning of the game. His attacks feel planned out and they suit his character. And though sonic 06 is not the best sonic game they keep reusing him in later games. His boss fight and shadow generations was such a shock to me that when I saw the scepter of darkness, I thought it was something else and I know what that scepter looks like. I just assumed that since he was from a game that no one likes unironically that we likely wouldnāt be seeing much more with him. But heās well written and absolutely powerful.
2. Infinite the jackal.
Does get lore, but itās not explained in the game. You have to get the comics and itās not fully explained and episode shadow either so points off. However, Infinite has an aura about him, he was designed to be intimidating and though I think heās under utilized in the game that heās supposed to be the main villain of, I honestly think what we do see is impressive enough to put him on the list. Now this is my interpretation of infinite. I just replayed the game recently after a couple years and this is just kind of what I picked up from it. The Phantom Ruby is an interesting way to showcase manipulation. Not manipulation in the way of heās being manipulated by Eggman. But manipulation in the sense that one he can manipulate reality, and #2 I kind of feel like the Phantom Ruby manipulates pieces of infinite himself. From the brief bit of him, we see and shadows story. (Yes I know itās expanded on more in the comics.) he seems vain, and obviously he has a grudge, but I honestly do not see how from a game standpoint he goes from having a grudge and thinking he is superior to wanting to take over the world. I understand the eggman couldāve been in his ear. Totally get that. But who hasnāt met someone in their life who just kind of thinks theyāre better than other people? And I know the jackal squad comes into play, but again this is from the brief knowledge that only someone who played the game would understand.
I will say. I feel his illusions are under utilized. I mean, we get the final battle with a huge army of duplicates, but his power literally means that we could have any boss fight that we had before with better graphics, no need to rehash an entire game just have infinite make a copy. I mean, we see that in Zavocās battle. And donāt get me wrong, infinite himself boss battles are interesting. I love that he can manipulate reality. I feel like it couldāve been used more. But I think even with it used as it was, he has such an aura that it works.
Heās also quite eloquent for a sonic villain I was pleasantly surprised by that. He hasnāt killed sonic but with his help Eggman was able to conquer the world to the point where the resistance was only 0.01% of the population that is no small feet if weāre talking about a planet.
This is just a last silly point, but I really do find his beef with shadow from a game standpoint. Hilarious.
3. Metal sonic
I tried to be objective with this. Because from a nostalgia standpoint and a personal standpoint, metal sonic is one of my favorites like heās just one of my favorite characters and thatās how it is. However, I didnāt want this little tear thing Iām doing to be solely based on the fact that I do love metal sonic as a character. So what I think sets him apart. From other foil villains (such as scourge.) is the fact that this is literally what he was made to do. Let me reiterate that. Metal sonic was made to whoop on actual sonic. Does he win very often if at all? No. But does that mean sonic walks away scratch Free? Also, no.
Eggman was so salty about this hedgehog whooping on his machines that he built a machine version to whoop on sonic. Metal sonicās level of AI is impressive, but the fact that he develops patricital rage at one point. And strives to prove that he could take over the world and defeat sonic better than Eggman could is a whole Nother level of screw you. it was a twist in the game that I never saw coming. (The game being sonic heroes)
Sonic heroes being the game where both neo metal sonic and then metal overlord are a thing that happened. Metal upgraded himself used chaos energy was a giant Mecca dragon, monster thing at one point just to fulfill his purpose. He wants to prove that he is superior and sure he loses. But how many people beat those boss fights in one go. I know I didnāt. And from what it seems Eggman didnāt scrap metal sonic he just reprogrammed him probably because he knew that he couldnāt duplicate it at a level where it would be the same if that makes sense.
But it also almost feels like metal sonic got further than Eggman at his own game. Like sure metal was created to whoops sonic itās a fact. But once again, Eggman has been trying for years at this point and metal gets pretty close.

Mephiles/Iblis/Solaris breakdown (Art): Mephiles the Mind, Iblis the Heart
The Trinity Gods of Mobius: Gaia who provides the Earth, the Master Emerald who provides life, and Solaris who provides the sun.
Mephiles' Crystals: Pieces of his power, they allow Mephiles to reach Sonic, Shadow, and Silver across time and space even with his weakened state.
The Void: A place between time, like a pocket dimension, made by Mephiles' power. It allows him to protect the children without interfering with the rest of their respective points in time. It's a place of absolute darkness and when the children enter or leave, it is in a brief plume of dark smoke.
Due to Mephiles not having the full power of Solaris (something Iblis possesses but does not have the mental capacity to use), Mephiles does not know which threats to the SSS happened in the original timeline or if they're genuine threats. Quite the rambunctious bunny (though heās not as evil as the nightmare version of Plushtrap).
Canāt move when thereās light shining on him, so he stays in the dark/shady areas of your home most of the time.
Tends to creep around during the night, but all Alec has to do is shine his eyes and PC will stop.
Gets v grumpy when that happens so he stopped doing that.
Hides in the closet most of the time now, though heāll come out if Spring-Bonnie is nearby.
Ella (1:35 AM)
A doll who you also bought at an auctionādespite noticing that her alarm clock function is broken.
For the first few nights, she woke you up exactly at 1:35 AM.
She kept doing that, thinking youāll throw her away like Delilah did so she could torment you the same way.
Butā¦you never do. Instead you research ways to fix alarm clocks and even had Fetch retrieve some parts for you (where he got them from? that doesnāt matter).
And eventually, you did fix Ella and she became forever in your debtāserving her function as an alarm clock correctly.

You both enable each other's shenanigans, so you're probably a bad influence on each other, but does that matter if you were already mischievous and morally gray? Yes, yes it does matter, and Soundwave's about to learn why in just a second, because he is the one that bails you out of whatever shenanigans that you and Frenzy get into.
And every time, the two of you are usually very grateful for his intervention. You may expect to have him chew your ear off about it, but surprisingly he doesn't actually scold either of you for messing with people so long as you do it stealthily, but if you were to get injured or harmed in the process, he'll scold you and tell you to be more careful as well as discreet as he takes care of whoever's hurting you and then treating your injuries.
You may have met Frenzy first, and perhaps that's because you caught her messing with someone and joined in, and instead of turning on you, she liked your vibe and thought you were cool so she let you join in on the fun. Eventually these shenanigans became more frequent, and Soundwave began to notice that she'd go sneak off somewhere, and then she introduced you to one another. The whole meeting would be very akin to a parent meeting their kid's friend from school, and he's probably said "so this is the Y/N you keep talking about," upon first meeting you.
Aside from causing trouble, she does hang out with you in a way that doesn't include messing with people in any sort of capacity. She'll sneak over to your home with a bucket of paint and have you help touch up on her highlights and paint her nails all the while you listen to rock music at the dead of night. If you enjoy painting your nails or dyeing your hair too, then score! She'd be stoked to return the favor, and the two of you would probably spend hours and hours together, painting the other's nails, listening to rock, talking about whatever comes to mind, or watching youtube.
But indoor hangouts aside, she'll drag you out to go bully GHOST employees, or just people in general, but she's more inclined to bully GHOST employees, even if Soundwave warns the two of you to stay away from them unless you can't help it. But when it comes to messing with normal people, she's not gonna hurt them, no, that's only saved for GHOST employees, the most she'll do is scare the shit out of them and steal a thing or two, but for the most part her shenanigans are relatively harmless.
Eventually when Soundwave is captured by GHOST, that safety net is gone, and Frenzy starts to hang around you more often, perhaps even to the point of now automatically living in your house if that's possible (and since both she and Lazerbeak stick together, then I suppose Lazerbeak's there too). You get front-row seats to the Bot Brawls that she holds with Lazerbeak in the city, and even special access to the announcer booth if you want to join in on the fun.
Au where Nightmare kidnaps Palette but nobody comes for him because Dream and Ink were too busy to notice him in the first place. Nightmare becomes a dad to another skelly.
āWeāll be back soon kiddo!ā Dream said with a large smile. Palette hugged his Papa and watched him and his Dad leave to go protect the multiverse like every day. He went to the kitchen to see what food they have only to step in a large puddle of what Palette assumed to be ink.
Palette huffed and went to go grab the mop to clean up his forgetful Dadās puddle again. But when he got back to the puddle it seemedā¦ more menacing in a way? Palette wasnāt quite sure, so he just carefully started to mop it up before he was snatched by a large tentacle emerging from the puddle.
Palette was sucked in and was faced with Nightmare and the Bad Sanses face to face. Nightmare chuckled darkly down at the young skeleton a menacing grin on his face. āSo boss, whatās the plan? What are we gonna do with this godly brat?ā One of the bad sanses asked, he had large goopy tears running down his face so Palette assumed that this one was Killer.
āWeāre going to use this little brat as a bargaining token for Ink and Dream, that way we have more leverage in getting what we want Killer.ā Nightmare explained. So it seemed like Palette guessed right, Papa showed him pictures of the people who badly hurt him so Palette knew who to look out for if he was ever lost in the multiverse.
Palette mainly tuned out the back and forth banter between the Bad Sanses and mainly focused on different ways he could trick them into letting him go. But it seemed Nightmare had other plans and threw him into a cell with a solid steel door. Four bare and dull stone walls, a rickety old bed that looked like it could fall apart at any second, and a pillow that looked like it had given up all hope on life.
Those things made up the bulk of his surroundings. There were smaller items like piles of dust, scratches on the walls, door, and floor, and a scraggly blanket that looked like if a rabbit wolf had torn it limb from limb. āThis is gonna be a fun next couple of days.ā Palette mumbled to himself.
Day 1
Day one wasnāt too bad. Mainly it was wake up, wait around and make drawing on the floor in the dust, stay away from the rusty nail sticking out of the floor, wait some more and eat a scrappy meal they called ādinnerā. Which mainly consisted of mashed potatoes, half of a hamburger patty, and a glass of water.
Palette ate them just to stay energized for when his parents came to get him.
Day 2
Day two was pretty much the same routine except that he had to restart the dust drawing he was doing half way through due to a sneeze. Dinner wasnāt much better from last nights. Mainly consisting of green beans, a piece of dried chicken, and a glass of water.
Week 2
So it was the start of week two for Palette but he could give up hope just yet! He knew his parents would come eventually! They weāre probably just gathering a mob to come and help break him out of here. But the routine was pretty much the same as every day he had been here. Draw, stay away from the nail, hope, eat.
Palette just hoped that they would come soon he didnāt know how much more he could take of this.
Week 5
Palette has been here for a little over a month. Whatās taking his parents so long to come for him? Palette starts to pace around. What if their just really busy fighting that Error guy Dad keeps talking about? Yeah that must be it. Their fighting Error because heās defending Nightmares base! Palette paces faster.
They must be super busy trying to get to me right now. They must be so worried that they canāt wait to see me again. Palette doesnāt look where heās going anymore. He keeps imagining his parents desperately trying to get to the castle to save him and make it home with him safe again.
And he steps on something very very sharp. And Cross who is currently on duty guarding Palettes cell hears something he never thought heād hear a child of Dream say. ā!?@$! I STEPPED ON THE NAIL!ā He cried out. Cross slightly jumped in surprise when he heard Palette, a very quiet kid that never said anything to them ever, swear loudly.
Cross went upstairs for dinner and explained what he heard. āI heard the kid swear! It wasnāt one of the phony ones either like ācrapā or āfudgeā, no it was a full blown swear word at the top of his non-existent lungs!ā Cross explained while munching on his steak.
āHeā¦ swore?ā Asked Horror. Cross nodded his head rapidly. āWhat did the kid swear about crossy boy?ā Killer asked. Cross shrugged and kept eating. āSomething about stepping on a nail? I dunno.ā Cross replied mainly focused on the meal In front of him.
That night for dinner palette got a mostly Burt roll with his dinner Curtesy of Killer.
Week 6
Palette hadnāt moved that much this week due to him stepping on the rusty nail. He was curled up on the bed shaking uncontrollably like a leaf in a hurricane. He hadnāt even touched his dinner from the last few days, which worried everyone. Even Nightmare, who normally didnāt really care about that kind of stuff on itās own.
But when they got the tray back from the cell and it was still filled with food everyone got worried. Palette had never missed out on a dinner time, not once had he not eaten. And this whole situation stressed out Horror the most. So Nightmare was fed up with this nonsense and went into the prison cell only to find the brave boy normally sitting on the floor or standing bravely to be huddled on the bed like a scared child.
āSpeak child, why have you been skipping on the meals we give you?ā Nightmare demanded. Palette shifted to a semi upright position and Nightmare could feel the pain radiating from him. āB-bones just hurt thatās allā¦ Iāll be fine in a b-bitā¦ not like I can really die after allā¦ my body will flush out the tetanus out eventuallyā¦ā he muttered.
āCross mentions that you swore quite loudly when you stepped on a nail a few days ago is that correct?ā Nightmare asked. Palette chuckled and nodded slowly, laying back down onto the bed with a rush of relief following the rush of pain coming from his body.
Nightmare walked off and locked the door behind him when he left the room. Heading to the kitchen and grabbing a few different small and soft foods from the shelves. āBoss? What are you doing?ā Horror asked. Nightmare grabbed a pack of crackers and faced him. āThe boy stepped on a rusty nail and got tetanus, I can feel the pain radiating from him every time he moves. So Iām getting him some soft foods to eat.ā Nightmare replied.
Horror moved out of the way and let Nightmare do his thing with the child. Not wanting to interfere.
Month 4
Palette has been locked up for four months and his hope is fading fast. After he stepped on the rusty nail Nightmare made sure to remove it so something like that didnāt happen again. Although he did enjoy Palettes suffering he needed the boy to stay alive and couldnāt risk him getting tetanus again.
But something changed. It was the second week of the fourth month Palette was kept there and Cross could have sworn he heard the kid mumbling happy birthday to himself. But Cross shrugged it off and only mentioned it at lunch because he thought it was funny.
But the others didnāt really seem to think so. āWeāve kept him here for months! I donāt think his parents are going to show anytime soon boss!ā Killer complained. Nightmare nodded and kept eating. āShould we get him a small cupcake?ā Horror mumbled to himself. Nobody really paid him any mind because they knew not to mess with him when it came to giving people food.
āDream and Ink arenāt going to show so theirs no use in treating the child like a prisoner anymore. And since Cross overheard him singing happy birthday to himself we could surprise him with a spot at dinner and an actual room to himself.ā Nightmare explained.
And when Nightmare gave the word they all got to work. Killer and Dust worked on the room while Horror worked on the cake and dinner. Cross kept guard to make sure that everything seemed like a normal day to Palette. But Palette definitely didnāt expect for Cross to escort him upstairs and to the dining room where there was an extra seat.
āHorror insisted you ate with us tonight.ā Cross explained. Palette just simply nodded and waited for everyone to begin grabbing their food. While everyone was fighting over the biggest piece of steak Palette went right past it and grabbed one of the smaller and more scraggly ones of the bunch.
Palette gave himself a small amount of veggies and one of the smaller rolls as well. But the small amount of food didnāt last long under Horrors watchful eye. Palette was about to tale a bite out of his mashed potatoes before Horror globbed a bigger portion onto his plate.
āI-I donāt really need that much!ā Palette tried to explain, but Horror didnāt want to hear any of it and just kept putting larger portions of the veggies and a larger steak onto his plate. Palette didnāt argue and just kept eating his food in silence while everyone else was talking about funny stories and random things.
When everyone was finished Palette was ready to be taken back to his cell to wait some more for his parents to arrive but Cross never got up to escort him. Instead Horror got up and brought over a cake with a candle on it. Palette just thought that it was someone elseās birthday that they were celebrating and thatās why he was brought up.
But imaging his surprise when the cake was placed infront of him and the cake had āHappy Birthday Paletteā on it in green frosting. āF-for me?ā Palette asked. Horror nodded and patted Palettes head. āBut whyā¦?ā He asked.
āCrossy boy over there heard ya this morning kid!ā Killer explained. Palette slightly blushed and looked down at his feet. āSo we all decided to chip in and get you a gift which weāll show you after cake.ā Nightmare explained.
After cake just like Nightmare said they showed him the gift. āA room? For me?ā Palette asked. Nightmare nodded and led him into the room. āBut why? Iām not a member of your gang?ā Palette said confused.
āItās not like your parents are going to come anytime soon so we figured weād give you a batter room than a dirty prison cell you could get tetanus in again.ā Nightmare said plainly. Palette looked away and nodded a small smile creeping onto his face.
After Optimus has Hot Rod. He's a very fussy sparkling. He's always crying and has a hard time sleeping and eating. He also has a spark condition which is hard on him.
Optimus is exhausted and is struggling to bond with Hot Rod. He's also dealing with the war and one day Hot Rod won't stop crying and he lashes out. He yells at him and pinches him.
Realizing what he has done he takes a step back. He decides to give Hot Rod to Ratchet and Drift to raise because Hot Rod seemed happy with him. He'd stop crying when they held him and would sleep whenever they watched him. They both knew how to take care of his medical problems. Ratchet better than him.

*claps* this is perfect angst.

Optimus is forever going to suffer under the guilt of what heās done to his sparkling.
Ratchet is so disappointed in him and Iād like to change it a little and say Drift is still Deadlock when they get Hot rod who is the sweetest sparkling theyāve ever seen. He plays so well with their own sparkling First Aide and Hot rod only gets fussy with them like he did with Optimus when he was in pain.
It kills Optimus to know his sparkling was in pain and he didnāt even notice. He thought his sparkling was just bad. He didnāt realize he was hurting.
Deadlock is so protective of both bitties he truly forgets Hot rod didnāt come from Ratchets valve like First Aide did and he gets angry when bots bring it up until he remembers. And then he just says Optimus has no claim to their sparkling not caring how it hurts Optimus until Ratchet tells him Optimus probably had post carriers down spiral.
Deadlocks stops saying it then and doesnāt make anymore hurtful comments to Optimus and apologizes but Optimus feels he doesnāt deserve it because deep down he didnāt want Hot rod and he thought it was karma.
Taking it a step further.
Hot rod knows optimus is his carrier and has the memories from being a bitty.
Heās distant from Optimus and hides that he knows and remembers.
The step further is Optimus having bitty bumblebee and just..having so much love for the sparkling that was so adorable and so much easier. Bee had problems too but not as serious as Hot rods spark condition that couldnāt be cured. Bee may always have nutrient and mineral absolving problems but his treatment is so much easier.
And Hot rod seeing his carrier love and raise his little brother with so much love and caring optics that he never gave himā¦
It fuels him to become a prime so his carrier will finally look at him like he looks at bee.
Hot rod may have a spark condition but heās incredible in battle and terribly smart and tactile when he isnāt insecure or doubting himself.
Of course he becomes a prime because heās shot in the spark but this time by Galvatron and heās reborn as Rodimus prime.
He comes back ready to see his carrier and show heās worth something now. Worth loving. That heās not bad anymore if the matrix accepted him.
But then he justā¦.
Stopsā¦
And something in him breaks because he never had to prove a thing to Ratchet and Deadlock now Drift.
He never had to prove a thing to First Aide his brother or Bee he who came to know and never showed ill will towards. He was jealous for a while but one look at the bitty and he just..felt the need to protect him like he did First Aide and how First Aide excelled in spark conditions to protect him.
Bee was smarter than he let on and admitted he figured out they were brothers in private and asked Rodimus, at the time Hot rod, if they could be brothers outside of blood and Hot rod agreed so easily.
Remembering all these things, how Ratchet never once looked at him different from First Aide or how Deadlock now Drift has always said he has two sparklings and acted like itā¦
He turns and goes home.
He knocks on his creators door where he knows First aide is also at and waits..they havenāt seen his new frame, donāt know his new name and havenāt heard whats happened to him.
He hopes they welcome him with open sparks and arms like always and waitsā¦
It feels like hours thats really nano kliks until the door is open and First Aide turns his helm to greet the bot at the door when he stops and pauses.
āHey banders, I um..Its me..Roddy..I,ā he goes to explain that he inherited the matrix, still insecure of not being enough, when the mech buries him in a hug.
Heās shocked but hugs his brother back before the mech is pulling back still holding him and dragging him in the house frantically yelling, ācarrier! Sire! Roddy! Its roddy! Heās back!ā
The silence that envelopes the home as First Aid drags him into the living den makes his spark stop until he hears heavy pedes hitting the floors and his creators are staring at him with wet optics in the doorway.
āHot rod..ā
He smirks sheepish, spark pulsing from emotion that his medicine counteracts making it painless as he stands there blushing, crying, smiling.
āIts um..its um..its Rodimus now..Rodimus prime..,ā he bumbles, caught completely off guard when Ratchet and Drift envelope him and First Aid in a frame breaking hug as they splatters tears onto their frames.
āMy bitty, youāre okay,ā Drift cries ever the secret not so secret emotional sire like always. His carrier scanning him internally not at all trying to hide it as he keeps him close.
āYou idiot, you went and got yourself shot in the very thing we drilled into you to protect,ā his carrier sobbed, kissing his helm over and over again. Not missing a beat doing the same to First aid who buries his helm in Roddyās neck cable.
Rodimus canāt, he canāt help but ugly sobā¦
āIām sorry..iām sorryā¦but I came back..I came back like I promised,ā he wails, gripping them tight the best he could.
He feels the injection to keep his spark from overstimulating in his side and knows his sire did it.
Drift always carried his medicines just like his brothers, yes bee too the sweet little slagger, and carrier did.
āIām sorry i got shot carrier,ā it feels so good to say that to the mech who deserves to hear it. To the mech he owes everything to but would have nothing better than his family safe.
āDonāt forget your sire brat, I almost went out to get you,ā Drift laughed making him beam.
For a klik Drift and Ratchet saw the sparklings they used to carry in their arms who held servos because it made them feel safe and he cried for a new reason.
āDonāt..donāt leave again okay, roddy?ā
āI wonāt banders, I wonāt,ā he kissed First aids helm and the two held servos like when they were sparklings.
āIām on paperwork and med duty, I wonāt be going back out unless another war breaks out and we all know no bots want that.ā
Roddy stays home that night and heās happy to see Bee the next day and reunite with his little brother and lift him even further off the ground.
Now he can be even more of a menace to his little brother, Bee grumbles but doesnāt move away from how close he stands to Roddy, like always, and he joins his brother to see First aid at the new oil shop that just opened.
First aid is blushing like mad as Ambulon flirts with him and Bee flutters his door wings at the sight of Starscream waiting for them. Drift and Ratchet sit at a table with a few of their friends and Roddy joins his brothers and their future conjunxs. He teases them through the comms about conjunxing ceremonies and they throw forks at him making him laugh.
He isnāt laughing so much when he sees Optimus enter the outdoor shop but he hides it and pays the mech little mind.
Things are going well so long as he ignored the way Optimus kisses Beeās helm and sits with the others after greeting everyone in a friendly way.
The mech doesnāt notice heās his sparkling right away and Roddy shakes his helmet at his creators and goes back to chatting.
Heās having a good time when he feels a digit tap his shoulder plating after noticing bots have gone silent. He feels a warmth behind him that makes him turn a little. He waves at Magnus and Megatron who sit side by side with the older bots before looking up and feeling his spark be stolen once again.
āH..hey sound,ā he stood, smiling at the mech who tipped his helm in what he knew to be a smile.
āGreetings: Hot rod. Happiness: at seeing you well and recovered. Frame: beautiful star.ā
The words made his intake dry and his medicine injected into his spark to stabilize it. He turned his optics blushing as a smile took over his face plate.
āUmm..do ya wanna join us? I missed..I mean..itād be really cool if you joined us,ā he vented a little off and he felt his carrier and brother shift closer only for Soundwave to pull out a medical mesh adhesive he had Shockwave design.
He gently lowered Rodimus back into his seat and placed the adhesive on his neck cable just as he did when they were in and out of battle off world.
āPleasure: would be soundwaves to join.ā
The mech politely nodded at everyone and specifically Ratchet, Drift, First aid and Bee before sitting beside Rodimus who couldnāt stop his spoiler from fanning in subtle court ship display.
Starscream smiled behind his cup of oil before saying something that had Bee elbowing him and grouching at the mech making conversation flow and the attention leave them.
Mostly.
He felt his creators watching him and Soundwave and knew they would be grilling him and doing a thorough vetting on Soundwave like they did Ambulon and he looked flustered glancing at them.
They gave him the look and he knew he was cooked.
Rodimus. A grown mech. And still about to be grounded by his creators.
āHot rod creators: loving. Soundwave: happy to know Hot rod has love he deserves.ā
That made Rodimus smile like a love sick puppy in a romance novel until he remembered.
āOh, my designation..umm..its Rodimus now,ā he looked nervous at Soundwave, since theyāve gotten closer he can better read the mech. So he was looking for anger or disappointment at this next part, āRodimus prime,ā he spoke the last part quietly. Unsure of how Soundwave felt.
There was silence until Soundwave suddenly slipped his tentacles on Rodimus and felt his frame.
āIām okay Sound, all my injuries are healed up,ā he giggled, actually giggled like he was some school bot.
āPrevious actions: forbidden from repeating,ā Soundwaveās deep voice made him smile and he nodded along as Soundwave still checked him over.
He had nothing to worry over. Soundwave would be his friend through anything.
āIām on paperwork and medic duty now. Iām not doing anymore fighting any time soon,ā Roddy assured, seeing his creators give an approving hum. A step in the right direction of a long road.
He was glad.
Though Soundwave resting his tentacle around his waist was not accepted and Drift came over removing it and Rodimus burst out laughing when Soundwave started egging his sire on harmlessly.
The mech was such a troll.
He loved it.
He didnāt notice Optimus horrified look at not immediately recognizing his own sparkling nor did he notice Optimus lower his helm in shame.
Optimus wasnāt at fault for not being able to initially connect with his sparkling after emergence but he was at fault for not bridging the gap and leaving it broken.

He honestly thought the cassettes would be a factor that drove you away. They're loud and rambunctious, and a handful for he himself to keep in line, and worries that they might say or do something that makes you question your relationship with him
Was cheering in his head when he realized that wouldn't be a problem! Seeing you effortlessly show your affection for the minicons makes him love you even more than he already did
He sees the smaller bots as family, and now that you're apart of it, he truly feels like it's complete
They arenāt used to a whole lot of affection, and being shown it so freely is something new and theyāre gonna take a bit of time getting used to it
Frenzy and Rumble like hugs a lot more than theyāre willing to admit, never able to just ask for one and instead try to bait you into initiating. Itās pretty obvious when theyāre trying to do this, so they rarely, if ever, go without
Rumble and Frenzy resisted your doting at first, complaining that it would make them soft, but soon grew to enjoy and even look forward to when you fret over them, especially when they return from missions. Absolutely those kids that make their parents watch while they do a handstand underwaterĀ
Lazerbeak and Buzzsaw are thieves, stealing bits of your clothing and other objects to make nests with. It's how they show affection, aside from preening, but you're a bit small for that and I doubt you want them pulling out your hair in their attempts to do so. You're the only one allowed in the nest though, it was made from your stuff so you're the exception
Ravage is the biggest lap cat ever conceived, demanding cuddles whenever you've got a free moment. Surprisingly a good cuddle buddy, despite being made of metal and sharp points, you never have to worry about having cold legs again! Brings you things he finds when out on missions that he gives to you as gifts.
Ratbat is an absolute sweetheart towards you, always chirping at and nuzzling you, clinging to you as you go about your day like a very needy leech. Content to just be in your company, not needing anything more than the affection you give him and he thrives on it. Enjoys chin scratches a whole lot
They absolutely see you as a parental figure, youāre always there to help them when they need it and you love them unconditionally and donāt expect perfection from them. Itās a welcome change of pace and they wouldnāt do anything to risk their relationship with you
