Yelena had been sent away from Rhodes Island for some R&R. One of the non-affiliated sedentary cities was openly accepting the Infected, provided they wouldnât use their Arts to cause trouble and had money to spend. It was different than what she had been used to all her life, and the beeping of the RI band on her wrist signaling the oncoming injection of medicine to her bloodstream.
Thirty six hours. Thatâs how long she was inside the incinerator, they had believed she was dead. She even thought she was dead, but she somehow revived. After hours of surgery and recovery, she was better in almost every way except she still had the illness. She definitely didnât expect to run into someone familiarâŚ
âLyudmila?â She was surprised hearing her own name she only responded in kind when seeing Crownslayer. Yelena took a shaky step backwards, leaning on her cane to keep from falling.
The air was rapidly cooling that frost was forming on the windows on buildings nearby, but it wasnât bone-shattering, blood-freezing cold.
âSo⌠youâre still alive then. How?â
Uncovered canine ears would perk in interest at her own name, swivelling to the side slightly in apprehension. Clearly, she was listening to their surroundings, ready to run away should this be some sort of trap - neither Rhodes nor Reunion travelled alone, and the last thing she needed was to be jumped yet again. ⌠but she couldnât help but think about Frostnovaâs words either.Â
ă ă â. . . I . . . â
It had to be clear from the way her ears would lower, her uneasy silence the answer to Frostnovaâs question, that Crownslayer didnât have an answer. At least not one she was confident in. Normally sheâd just say something like âiâm not that easy to killâ and brush it off.... but she couldnât really say that this time, could she?Â
Kalâtsit had simply allowed her to live. Why, Crownslayer didnât know. What benefit was gained from keeping from a useless wolf like her alive? Whoâs to say she wouldnât bare her fangs in the wrong direction, or for the wrong person again? She was weak, she knew - she knew that now. But she really didnât get why that cold-hearted cat wanted her to live. Allowed her to live.
Thoughts to deal with later.
Deal with the problem infront of her, first.
ă ă âDoes that really matter? Why are you wearing that?â
Uneasy ears would perk back up, her gaze glancing down at the cane, then at Rhodesâs logo on her coat. Trying to piece things together, as even Frostnovaâs chill seemed more tempered. Last sheâd heard from the other leaders, before her coms stopped working entirely, was that Frostnova was en route to assist Mephisto and Faust⌠what exactly happened, back in Lungmen?
ă ă âDid you really defect?â
