I have a lot of feelings about Zoey getting hurt again. I don’t know any details but shortly before I got her she was attacked by another dog. I found out after a few months and it explained why she was so fearful with other dogs and why she reacted the way she did. We finally hit a point where she’s fine around other dogs. Certain dogs she doesn’t like and still barks at but she keeps her distance and runs away if they try to approach. She doesn’t bark on the leash. She licked a dog she used to be scared of on the face the other day. A dog at work has been going after her the past 2 days - a young very bouncy terrier. She usually just tries to play, Zoey growls, she goes away but she’s been growling at and chasing Zoey before Zoey even looks at her. A year ago this could’ve been a terrifying fight but now Z just growls back and leaves. I am so proud of her. It has taken a long time to get to this point. There’s still a lot to work on but we’ve made progress. What happened today sure isn’t going to help her not be scared of other dogs. She was so scared. And I’m still recovering from a concussion, today was my first longer day back at work. I wish there was a little more time between scary injuries, a break would be nice. Or a break from all the family crap while this goes on. I love my dog a lot and I’m glad she’s going to be okay.
