The look of disappointment wasn’t lost on him, however he debated to do something about it. Showing off his monsters were always something he enjoyed, mostly in duel form, but suppose he could take he more direct route.

“A bunch of times actually. Did you want to talk to her?”

He can’t believe what the other is asking him. To speak to her- a card? A look of disbelief crosses his face and he’s not even sure if this guy knows what he’s talking about now. But, he seems so...honest about it. Maybe he is. He just finds this all weird.

          ❛ Then comprehend better, bird brain.  I can’t fix stupid. ❜  There’s a wet pop as lollipop is pulled out of their mouth, arms crossing carefully over another as to not tear their uniform. The younger huffs and begins again.  ❛ Fusion was an immeasurable honor in Academia and it’s only recently been perfected.  Most complications with it have been minimized. ❜  Sora pauses, attention suddenly sharp on Shun.  ❛ You had to swear everything to Academia to even be considered to undergo the procedure.  They didn’t want traitors, so I can’t say why they wanted you.  Defected became examples to the rest of us. ❜  Crumpled wings, jutting out unwillingly from their backside, jerks abruptly. The deformed appendages of twisted bone had little meat on them — feathers never grew properly and they would never fold as neatly as the Shun’s.  ❛ There’s rumors of trackers being embedded into subjects during the process.  At least in the more successful ones. ❜  Sora shrugs then, shifting free from their position and taking another lick of the lollipop.  ❛ Can’t say for certain, but it sounds like something Academia would do. ❜

          ❛ Jeez, are you always this repetitive? ❜  They’ve heard these types of inquiries far too many times — especially from Shun, who somehow managed to find the means to ask ONE question a DOZEN ways before being satisfied with an answer. Sora’s more focused on the task on hand — literally.  Fingers, each dangerously tipped with claws, have difficulty pulling the wrapper off a lollipop.  Once the appendages manage it, though, the candy is slipped into their mouth with an awkward and frustrated movement.  ❛ I’ve already told you this.  If you won’t listen, then how’s that my fault? ❜

“I hope to see for myself, as well.” There was a silent ‘if we live’ that seemed to hang in the air, though he couldn’t bring himself to utter the words.  Hoping against hope, he gave a respectful bow of his head to the other male - long, emotional goodbyes had never really been his style and the simple gesture could convey more than words ever could.

“…Yes and good luck.” Whether was wishing good luck on the other male or on himself, even he didn’t know the answer.  Perhaps for both of them - he’d never been one to believe in luck or prayer but perhaps this time might be different.

“I’ll be heading off then.”

The most he could do was nod in response. What else could he say? The same for one thing, but it all seems to have been said, they could only hope to meet each other again, to live through this terror. He’s a bit stunned to the bow, understanding it but not really sure how to react to such a thing. It seemed so proper compared to a wave of goodbye.
