Why would you say Mary McDonnell would be the best choice for Kate out of all the other lovely middle aged actresses out there? Well dear reader, it’s all about one thing; THE VIBES.

The Space Mom’s With Mutual Respect Vibe:

They both have a long acting career that they’re very proud of and take. very seriously. They both work in SciFi shows and frequent Cons. They both understand the very unique relationship between the actor and the fans when it comes to working in SciFi. There’s a lot of time and energy put into fostering that kind of connection with the fans. A lot more energy than an average movie and television star would spend. I think there’s a lot of nuances in their career they have to explain to partners, but they would just get it. When asked about one another, even before they met, there was already a great deal of respect.

Back in 2020, Mary interviewed Kate with enthusiasm! She seemed genuinely excited she got to have Kate come on her podcast. My god did they hit it off! They never met before then, yet they spoke like old friends. Seriously, you should listen to this episode. The introduction alone was basically Mary saying “This woman is incredible and I’m falling in love.”

The Complimenting Personalities Vibe:

I admit, this is mostly just reading into the podcast and videos.

In every working relationship, you need opposites but just enough. You have that here.  Emotionally, Mary seems to be a bit more open. She’s quicker to show all sides of her and would probably deemed the “fun one” if they went out to a party. I think Mary’s positivity and willingness is very infectious. I think she would bring out Kate’s playful side, a side she wasn’t really allowed as a child. 

When it comes to being in charge, Kate is the dominate one. When you watch their interviews at Cons, Mary holds her stage presence but is pretty laid back. In groups she seems to let her cast mates talk before her. As for Kate, she jumps into Captain mode. She directs the questions, very straight forward and lightly jabs her cast mates when they go off topic.

But I think they have so much in common fundementally. They both are deep thinkers and love to observe people. They have similar backgrounds and both have a deep connection to Ireland. Acting isn’t just a job for them, its part of who they are. They both love being on stage but are coy when it comes to their private life. As said before, there’s so much about one another I feel the other would just get.

Am I overthinking this? Probably. But have I got you thinking? Admit it. You see it.

- The outbreak happens at a convention and its hard to tell when a Borg cosplayer is bitten or just really in character.

- Robert charms a zombie woman into letting him pass with his dazzling smile while trying to get out of the building, Kate is perturbed until she realizes she has the same affect on lesbian and queer zombies.

-  The two barely escape being bitten but are unable to make it out the building. They manage to barricade themselves in a conference room filled with food. The catch is, it’s also occupied by a crew of very excited JCer’s. Kate immediately tries to throw herself to the zombies and Robert has to stop her.

- Naturally, one of them sustained a minor injury, the other tends to them. They look up to ask for bandages or whatever only to see the JCer’s just excitedly staring at them like 🥺🙀🤗

- Later, while finally making it out of the convention center, after a long and awkward night with the JCers, they stumble upon zombie Picardo. Oddly, he has no interest in eating them. He speaks only in zombie babble but because he’s her bestie, Kate understands him. He tags along like a trusty pup.

- Kate hits a zombie with a shovel. The two Roberts simply give her a thumbs up.

- Kate yells she needs a hand while fighting another looter for food. Picardo hands her his detached hand.

- Trekking across the burning city of wherever all while passionately arguing which play was Shakespeare’s best. 

- The two forced to share a kiss when being attacked by a zombie wearing a JC shirt. The zombie is too busy squeeing to notice they escaped.

- Sharing a smoke while on sitting up on a billboard advertising Prodigy

EXO-6 Welcomes Kathryn Janeway to Its STAR TREK 1:6-Scale Figure Lineup; Preorders for VOYAGER’s Captain Open on Friday

After beaming down Lt. Commander Data and setting a course for Captain Jean-Luc Picard earlier this year, scaled action figure company EXO-6 has unveiled its third Star Trek release for 2021, bringing one of the Delta Quadrant’s most legendary characters home.

Teased back in April, the next entry in EXO-6’s 1:6-scale Star Trek Captains series is none other than USS Voyager matriarch Captain Kathryn Janeway, just in time for Kate Mulgrew’s holographic return in this fall’s Star Trek: Prodigy animated series — the first time a new Janeway figure has been produced since the series was still airing on UPN.

The first 1:6-scale figure from Star Trek: Voyager, the new EXO-6 Janeway design is based upon the character’s later-season look (with shorter, shoulder-length hair), measuring about 11 inches tall and armed with hand phaser, a Voyager-style compression phaser rifle, her familiar Mark X tricorder — and of course, her trusty coffee cup.

This 1:6-scale figure re-creates this iconic character in exquisite 1:6 detail. Standing approximately 11 inches tall, every element, from her 24th century jumpsuit to her custom black boots, is authentically reproduced. The original portrait sculpt of Kate Mulgrew as Captain Janeway has an authentic, hand-painted likeness.

The EXO-6 Janeway 1:6 Scale Articulated Figure includes:

• Fully Articulated Body: More than 30 points of articulation allow the figure to be displayed in multiple dynamic poses, approximately 30 cm tall.

• Realistic Portrait: Janeway’s portrait is lovingly rendered by top artists, with an excellent likeness of Kate Mulgrew in her role as Voyager’s captain. Each head sculpt is specially hand-painted.

• Starfleet Duty Uniform Jumpsuit: Meticulously researched, this duty uniform matches the pattern, and color of the original costume recreated in 1:6 scale. Magnets are sewn into the uniform so the holsters for the tricorder and phaser can be attached. An authentically scaled communicator badge is permanently affixed to the tunic.

• Boots: Soft plastic boots sculpted to match the cut and style of the original series footwear.

• Display Base: A hexagonal display base featuring the transporter pad will provide additional support for the figure. Two different inserts for the floor of the base can represent the transporter pad or the center of the transporter array.

Captain Janeway is outfitted with everything needed for a Starfleet officer. She comes equipped with:

• Type II hand phaser. The phaser can be worn in a black holster that magnetically attaches to the jumpsuit.

• TR-590 Tricorder X: This standard tricorder can be opened or worn in a holster.

• Phaser rifle: Compression Phaser rifle used by the Voyager crew.

• Coffee cup: “Coffee, black.” Kathryn couldn’t start her day without her signature beverage.

This fine collectible figure is a perfect rendition of the best captain in the history of Starfleet and a great addition to your EXO-6 Star Trek™ 1:6-scale figure collection.

 The next convention she’s diligent to not appear adorable with any castmates after being buried in that eye lash picture for weeks. She simply avoids being castmates so she just walks around talking to fans. She bumps into an adorable seven year old who wants to be work at a zoo and has his favorite stuffed animal that’s, of course, a giant lizard. He loses it in the flow of the crowd, she spots it being kicked about a few feet away, she saves it but she gets lost for a moment because she’s a short Irish lady. This leads to Robbie grabbing her hand and leading her back to safety while holding the lizard over his head so it doesn’t get lost again. Thus, thousands of Threshold themed Lion King parodies.

The next convention she gets through most of the convention unscathed until stepping off the stage, her sandal gets caught on a step, she tries to break it free but in the inertia she trips forward directly into Jeri Ryan’s arms.
