I’d send you a link to something. Just something silly, a file you can listen to. I’d tell you how innocent it is, how safe it is, how it really helps people relax.

And you’d listen. Maybe not right away, but we are inherently curious creatures and your curiosity would get the better of you. And so you would settle in, lay down, close your eyes and listen. At first you might roll your eyes, cringing at the idea of a file like this being able to relax you and make you feel good. But hey, it’s a nice voice. It’s a very nice voice. Even if the stuff they’re saying is silly, it can’t hurt to just listen. To follow along, and play pretend. What’s the worst that could happen?

So you play along. You listen. You do what they ask. You’re not sure if it’s because you’re bored, or you’re already tired because it’s been a long day, but you do start to relax. You start to unwind. You start to slow down, just like the voice says.

Soon things feel heavy. Fuzzy. Confused. Soon they’re counting down and down and part of you is scared. Some little part of you, your survival instinct perhaps, is telling you to open your eyes and stop listening, but another part of you, a much stronger part just wants to let go. You want to stop trying and fighting and thinking. You want to be free from the burden of your own thoughts, just like the voice says will happen in 3,2,1.

You don’t know what you feel, but you feel good. It’s quiet, and dark, and fuzzy. You feel blurred around the edges. The voice is there. It’s the only thing that’s there. And it feels so good. It feels so strong and safe and RIGHT. Everything it says feels right. It just wants to help. It just wants to make you relax. And you do. It tells you to drop deeper. And you do. It tells you to obey. And you do.

When you eventually blink your eyes open as the file ends, you’re confused, but you know that’s okay. The voice said you might be. So it’s okay to be confused. You feel too good to care.

You message me back, telling me how much you enjoyed yourself, how relaxed you felt, but also, how hazy your memory is. You just can’t piece it all together. And I tell you that’s okay, that’s normal, but tell me, how do you feel when I say the word DROP.

Then it’s quiet, dark and warm and cozy again. You know I’m messaging you. You know you’re responding. It doesn’t matter what I’m saying and what you’re responding. It’s easier to just agree and do as you’re told. So you send me photos. You send me your address. And you sit there, waiting, like a doll.

Until you hear a knock at the door. It snaps you out of this fuzzy feeling. You don’t think you were expecting anyone. Maybe you’re a little apprehensive but you take a peek. You crack open the door. You don’t recognise the person at the door. But they say the word DROP and you know what to do. You drop to your knees as they drag you inside. You lay there like a blank empty doll as they strip you off. As I strip you off. As I place your headphones in and click play and that lovely voice is back. Telling you how good it feels to obey. Telling you how nice it is to be a doll. You barely notice as I spread your legs wide open. Some distant part of you cries out as I fill you up, but your mind is elsewhere.
