If it wasn't obvious: I'm on full hiatus thanks to my computer situation.
No, it has not gotten any better. I hate logging onto my computer when I do so I avoid it now in all seriousness. I don't see myself coming back any time in the future. I had fun doing this and I really wanted to help the RPC but I think the universe is telling me this isn't for me. I wish you all the best and hope the rpc (looking at you Disney rps) unlearn their problematic shit. It's 2016, come on friends, you can do it.
Update: Computer situation hasn’t changed and sitting on the floor to my screen better is actually much worse so I might have no choice but to go on a full hiatus. I’m so sorry everyone but there’s nothing I can do to fix this right away and my dad is no help.

OKAY LOOK. It’s 2016. Ethnicity and nationality are two different things. Saying you don’t understand how it all works is fine, but if you’re offering fc help, the next step is to LEARN and stop spreading misinformation. Ethnicity is dependent upon your parents. Nationality is dependent upon what nation you belong to and they can intersect a LOT. See this guy?
His name is CHRISTOPHER LARKIN. you may know him from The 100. Christopher Larkin’s Ethnicity is Korean. He is a Korean man born in Daegu, South Korea. If he was raised in South Korea, his nationality would also be South Korean, but he was not raised in South Korea. He was adopted as a child and raised in Connecticut. This makes his nationality American. Christopher Larkin is an American man. A Korean-American man.
Now, if that was hard to follow, this next example may blow you guys minds, but bear with me. Lets look at my mascot, IMAAN HAMMAM.
She’s a Morrocan-Egyptian Dutch model. “Whoa!” you may say. “Slow down, Raven! Too much at once!” It’s alright. I’ll try and break this down for you. Imaan’s mother is Morrocan. Imaan’s father is Egyptian. She’s a black model born & raised in Amsterdam (Netherlands) which makes her nationality Dutch (because amsterdamian isn’t a thing I guess.)
Lastly, let’s look at someone who is aggressively white.
This is DANE DEHAAN. Ethnicelebs has him down as Dutch, German, Italian/Sicilian, English, with distant Welsh and Northern Irish. All that? By American standards, that’s A LOT of white. That’s a bunch of different names for white. Dane’s ethnicity is white. Yes I understand that if you ask some white people, they’ll start rattling off percentages ( because for some, their lineage can be easier to trace due to their ancestors not being killed off ahem ) and say that they’re “20% German, 10% Dutch…” etc. I’m not ignoring that, but in the end they’re still white ) His nationality is American.
Now let’s look at all these faceclaims together. If we were using them for roleplaying purposes, we could make ALL THESE CHARACTERS JAPANESE. “But, Raven. How?? You already said they were white/black/korean!!!” you shout from your tower of ignorance “Simple!” I reply! If they’re raised in Japan, their nationality is now Japanese. It’s like roleplay magic. Yer a wizard.
If Christopher Larkin was raised in Japan instead of America, his ethnicity would be Korean and his nationality would be Japanese. He’d be a Japanese man of Korean descent. ( Descent meaning he was the product of people who were ethnically Korean. )
If Imaan Hammam was born and raised in Japan instead of Amsterdam, she would be a Morrocan-Egyptian Japanese Model.
If Dane Dehaan was born and raised in Japan, he’d still be fifty shades of white, but he’d be a white Japanese man because his nationality is Japanese.
In some ways, sites like ethnicelebs are unreliable because when they list someones ethnicity, they could be listing their ethnicity or their nationality. More often than not, it seem like we play it safe and assume that ethnicelebs is listing ethnicity so we don’t end up whitewashing.
Nationality is flexible in the rp world. Ethnicity is not. You cannot make Christopher Larkin half white for shits and giggles, but you sure as hell could make him Australian or African in nationality. Because changing the latitude and longitude of the place you were born in does not change who your parents were ethnically. I pray to god that cleared some things up.

So exactly a year ago to the day (June 17th, 2015 - June 17th, 2016), I made my first post on this rph, when it was a joint rph between me and a [ex] friend of mine. I could barely do anything, and it was mostly the other one who helped, we would never even reach 100 followers together (I wouldn’t reach that until January of this year). Now, a year later, I have built this rph in ways I never would have thought. I can do so many things that I never even thought were possible, and I like to see myself as constantly growing so hopefully I will learn more. I have gained over 400 followers, and I love every single one of you.
Now, enough with being sappy. So what did I decide to do to commemorate this special event? Well, I thought about a bunch of different things and decided on a 5 winner giveaway (which this website will pick from whoever reblogs - likes do not count as an entry - multiple reblogs will still only get you 1 entry)(I will post evidence that the five winners were the first five listed). I’ve posted about this a few times in the past but I really recommend going and installing the Tab for a Cause extension if you’re using Google Chrome. All you have to do is install the extension once & login. After that, every time you open a new tab, you earn a bit of money that goes towards helping get clean water to people who need it.
It’s a really simple way to contribute to a charity cause. You would be opening the new tabs anyway so it would be great if you installed the extension and helped those in need as you used the internet. It will give you notifications every time you’ve opened enough tabs to earn 3 months of water for someone.
It’s just a really great way to help out those in need by doing something you’d do regularly anyway. Go install the Tab for a Cause extension & join me in helping get clean water to those who need it.
To the anon I just got, I don’t mind being sent things, but I need screencaps with timestamps and such because I’m not part of the indie RPC and I don’t want to falsely accuse someone.

Ah Hermosa. As a Cali girl I’m very familiar with that name tbh so I feel as if this RP will be set in California.
The icon is nice when it’s bigger, but when I look at it on the dash or when it’s small, I honestly can’t make it out and that becomes a problem because you want to grab potential applicants’ attention while still representing your group.
Theme & Mobile Navigation:
So this opinion has been happening off and on for the past week or so. I see you’ve changed things around and I’m really glad you did! The new color scheme is perfect, everything that needs to be seen on a main page is visible, and it’s so easy on the eyes. I have 3 criticisms however:
On some of your posts, the text literally gets too light to see (I’m guessing you’re using small text, which is fine) but on others (usually on Admin Alya’s posts) the text is big enough and very clear and easy to read. I would suggest adjusting the exact font size of small text in the CSS.
For the admins sidebar, I definitely suggest putting each of your timezones and maybe later the characters you play.
I’m not sure why but your header doesn’t center and actually looks more like an overflow (causing the horizontal sidebar to come out) which is very odd to be because my screen is even bigger than your header.
Otherwise I love everything, this theme quickly became a favorite of mine and your graphics and color choices are spectacular.
I like that the mobile theme has the mobile navigation linked and the picture of the FC for Robin Ammon. I am a little confused as to why you didn’t link the trailer in the mobile nav?
Plot & Rules:
Your sidebar plot is short and to the point, thank you for that. The full plot however is hard for me to follow in the first paragraph. I think it would be better to give a little intro paragraph about key information (or just list the key information) on Robin rather than stuffing it into each new sentence.
After that the plot reads just swell. It reads like a real missing person situation. I feel the desperation to find Robin, the chaos of having news crews invading student life, and just all of it. It’s good that you choose to use a fictional school based on well-known real ones in the UC system as well.
So the rules are great. Firm, but short and to the point. You actually linked to the trigger list, but the link leads to the not found page so please check that link. I checked the navigation and it’s linked correctly there so you just to put it in properly in the rules page. The one thing that’s bugging me is this rule:
All faceclaims used must be able to believably pass for between the ages of sixteen and twenty-four.
I definitely agree with this because many RPC favorite FCs are way beyond being believable for this age range. I’ll touch on this more in the next section but you folks could be much much better with your FC suggestions.
Characters & Application:
So in general, I’m a fan of the character PSD because it’s cute and matches the theme graphics. But whatever coloring you have used completely washes out the POC (I see Jake T. Austin right at the top of the all bios tag and it’s making me cringe). I definitely recommend either finding a different coloring PSD.
I’m also confused by the text color change from black to teal blue. Even worse, if I move my mouse over one of the bios, the whole text turns red like the color of the bold. It’s really frustrating and I doubt those who visual impairments will enjoy that.
So I really enjoy the set up of the bios. Everything is clearly laid out and I especially love the little puzzle piece section for the character’s connection to Robin. That’s just so clever to me because people are pretty boring with connections. And it’s so great to see the trigger warnings in the tags AND right before the meat of the bio starts. Why don’t more RPs do this? One big issue I have is that the connections have no links to that character’s skeleton. It takes a few seconds to copy the link of the skeleton and link it!
I’ll be reading all the open skeletons because it’s not that many and they’re easy to get through.
Isaac Carter: I love this bio because it gives great flaws to a heroic character and it’s just so interesting to know his motives for taking the blame for his cousin’s mistake. FCs are good, but I think you could’ve found at least one who is 20 or younger. Grammar wise: “...and thought he wouldn’t always admit it” should be “...and though”.
Rose Wilson: The character just isn’t exciting to me. I just feel like this exact way of tackling a teenager with alcoholism has been presented for years. FC wise: Zendaya and Madison are good suggestions but Jessica Sula isn’t because she has a very specific heritage that’s not just half black half white. Instead I suggest putting down Aisha Dee or Ashley Moore. Grammar wise: “frusterated” should be “frustrated”.
Levi Wilson: I like this character for the most part but a few red flags are up in my brain about stereotypes black men face: being comic relief and being a liar/troublemaker.
Alexa Fisher: Characters who have been raped are always tricky to handle but I think you’ve accomplished it pretty well. It’s interesting to see the highs of Alexa’s life, then the lows, the small high again, then the immediate fall again. FC wise: Alex and Hailee are good choices but Cassie is 26. I have a few FCs that would work much better: Liza Soberano, Stella Hudgens, and Ashley Argota (she’s full Filipino however). Grammar wise: “IT was a fresh start.” should be “It was a fresh start”.
Skylar Summers: I like this character because it’s incredibly realistic for the times. I do feel that you’ve used impulsive as a negative character trait a few too many times. I don’t see this character as impulsive, actually I think he’s more cocky of full of himself than impulsive.
Gabriella Lin: The character feels a bit like Hanna from PLL to me but she’s fine I suppose. I’m getting a little wary because I’m getting racial sterotype vibes now after reading your other POC character skeletons. FC wise: Other than Katie (you spelled her surname wrong by the way, it’s Findlay not Findley), I don’t think you suggested half white/half Chinese FCs who could be passed off as 20 (Kristin Kruek is in her 30′s). I suggest replacing at least Kristin with Chloe Bennet.
Logan Thompson: Needs a physical assault TW, which I’m surprised you didn’t put in since it is one of your automatic things listed on the trigger list. But he’s a very interesting character... for the most part. I do feel like you didn’t touch on his personality per say and focused too much on him with his brother. Grammar wise: “...Logan’s life had somehow become even more stressful then before he had started college” should be “...more stressful than before”. Christopher Larkin is a great FC, but I wonder if you could’ve gone with a younger Korean male FC whose in Kpop since Christopher is getting close to 30.
Michelle Howe: Needs TWs for death, drugs, alcoholism. The character is interesting but I feel like the best friend’s accident was just glossed over? I feel there could’ve been better detail such as: Who was driving the car? Was anyone else hurt or killed that could add to Michelle’s guilt? What does she feel about Ryan now? FC wise: Willa and Ashley are good choices age wise but I think Leighton is pushing it a bit (she’s 30 now).
Alyssa Johnson: That is one vain and troubled queen bee character. I like her though. I have a soft spot for blonde bitches. Grammar wise: “...Alyssa signed up to attended UCHB...” should be “...Alyssa signed up to attend UCHB...”.
Nathaniel Johnson: I’m incredibly interested in this character because of all the hardships he’s faced and how he’s been working to overcome them, but obviously isn’t all “forgive and forget”. FC wise: Thomas and Logan seem a bit too old in my opinion but it’s fine. Grammar wise: “...but the the label of “emotional issues”...” I’m not sure exactly how you meant to word this one.
Isabelle Knight: I like her character because I was honestly just watching something like this on TV last week. Older married men constantly manipulate younger women into having affairs with them and believing the two of them belong together, even though it’s only going to end up in disaster. So this is incredibly compelling because it’s way more common than we think.
So those are all the characters and like I said, you all should work on slightly more age-realistic FC suggestions, add a few more trigger warnings, and be careful of racial stereotypes. Something that you really need to do for all bios is read them aloud and use more commas, semi-colons, or just varying sentence structure. Some sentences go on so long (aka run-on) and it’s hard for me to understand right off the bat. If you’d like me to help you further with that, feel free to send me an ask or IM.
And I think I figured out what’s the issue with the blue font color: the theme is treating the text of photo posts as a link (I wasn’t able to highlight the parts of bios with grammar issues). So definitely fix that up because the blue is hard to read all the way.
Also be sure those nonbinary characters come in soon because the only one you have up is a taken character.
For the application, it’s good but I think you should add in headcanons along with an IC para sample. To really help you three witness how much the applicant is invest in the character.
Extras:
I’ll be reading the pages about Robin herself, Hermosa Beach & UCHB, the locations, as well as watching the trailer.
Robin Ammon’s background: She seems like such an interesting character and I seriously hope you will reveal more about her in the future! Especially about her childhood and how that differed from her life as a teenager. Like on the plot, I think giving quick facts about Robin (name, age/DOB, major, extra curricular activities, achievements, her roommate’s name, if she has any family at the school, etc) would be a major help. Maybe even change the format to look a bit like the skeleton/bio format you’re using for playable characters.
Hermosa Beach & UCHB: Nothing bad to say because it’s all pretty straightforward. Although it would be a good idea to link to the locations at the end of the page. Grammar wise: “The town is best known for it’s outdoor water sports, along with it’s bars.” Both “it’s” actually shouldn’t have an apostrophe.
Locations: Gorgeous page! I love all the locations and the graphics are lovely. I am however having a hard time reading the text when it’s italicized. It might just be me though.
Trailer: I don’t care much for these personally, but I appreciate the work that goes into them. And this certainly felt like a real trailer that perfectly fit with the plot! Could’ve featured a few POC in those clips of “school life”, but otherwise it was a great watch.
I’m not going to read over every possible connection you put on the list, but I from what I’ve skimmed, I really love what you have come up with.
Also, sports and clubs leads to a not found page. I would work on getting that up quickly so applicants know what’s offered and know what to suggest could be added.
Admins:
You three all seem like incredibly friendly and attentive admins. You obviously care a lot about the group and you’re all a very constant, active presence on the main. Your answers to questions are informative and level-headed. My big suggestion is to make an admin page where you each introduce yourselves. They’re always a big help. Not to mention, I know so little about your three.
Overall:
This seems like a really fascinating RP and a great way to tackle a missing person plot. It doesn’t at all feel like a knock-off of PLL, which is one of my biggest pet peeve in RPs with a missing person plot. The graphics are lovely and the characters all have their fatal flaws and secrets without seeming overdone. The admins are all very dedicated. There is certainly room for improvement in grammar and some parts of the theme, but it’s really a great RP already.
