The jar filled with folded pieces of paper was the first thing Dean saw as he made his way into the kitchen. âAlright, youâve piqued my interest. Whatâs with the jar?â Dean asked, stepping up behind Cas at the counter and wrapping his arms around Casâ chest.
Cas turned in his embrace, pressing their foreheads together gently. âMy turn to surprise you today,â Cas replied quietly.
âGod, I love you,â Dean said, pulling Cas impossibly closer and peppering kisses across his cheeks and across the bridge of his nose.
âYou donât even know what the surprise is yet,â Cas laughed, bubbling and happy as Dean finally planted his lips against Casâ mouth.
âWeâll go on then, Angel. Surprise me,â Dean hummed in content.
Linking the fingers together, Cas guided Dean towards the table and gently nudged the jar in front of him. Dean reached out, trailing his touch over the silver lid of the jar, just barely making out the scrawl of Casâ writing on the pages.
âThis is⊠itâs⊠theyâre all the-â Cas trailed off as he glanced away, swallowing thickly before flickering his gaze back up to Dean again. Snagging Casâ hand, Dean squeezed the angelâs fingers softly. A grounding. A confession of love.
âAll the notes I wrote you over the years. When I wanted to tell you but didnât know how. The moments where I didnât know how to describe what I was feeling even as I fell for you over and over again. A hundred ways Iâve said I love you over the years,â Cas whispered.
âCas,â Dean breathed out, word shaking on his lips as he grasped hold of Casâ hand even tighter.
Cas smiled, tear-eyed and beautiful. Dean had never been more in love in his entire life. âI wanted to give this to you on our wedding night. But I never got time. And Iâve waited for the right moment since then. Our anniversary.â
The emotions felt like a wave, crashing through Deanâs chest and bursting out from his heart. Fumbling with the material of Casâ tie, Dean tugged Cas into a kiss. Then another kiss. And another.
I love you. I love you. I love you.
Dean pressed the unspoken words over and over again against Casâ lips. But it wasnât enough. How could it ever be enough compared to something this monumental? âGod, Cas. Sweetheart,â Dean finally gasped out, mind spinning and heart racing.
âIs this okay?â Cas asked, quiet and unsure.
âItâs perfect. You are perfect.â Dean kissed him again, this time slow and gentle. No words could capture this moment. So Dean poured every ounce of his love into kissing Cas until they were both gasping for air. âMy Angel. I love you.â
