Figured I should publish this for reference. If you would like to see me actually decorate my island, my twitch is faeunfocused and my stream schedule is currently sporadic (finishing my master's thesis).
Areas
The neighbourhood is laid out but not decorated. I would like to do personalized yards for each of the villagers, but I have to finish the DLC and customize the houses first.
The area in front of the museum still needs some extra decoration and fencing along the cliffs (so no one falls!).
The orchard still needs a picnic blanket design and some path between the trees.
Currently still breeding all the flowers in the area marked for the lake/fishing spot but eventually those will be moved to the botanical garden section. I think I will also put the rock garden in the botanical garden.
The dig site is currently a hole in the ground, but I will add the fossils and rope fence. I'm hoping to decorate the area around the campsite to look like archeologists are camping there to investigate the island at Blather's invitation.
I think there is room on the top-most cliff for castle ruins and a small graveyard, but we'll have to test that.
I was hoping to add a stage/performance area and a farmer's market somewhere but I'm not sure where.
The beaches are completely bare. No idea what to do for those.
Villagers
I love my current villagers Teddy, Sherb, Velma, Merengue (who will 'run a bakery') and Pietro (who does not match the vibes but sparks so much joy).
I am currently hunting for Felicity to replace Fuchsia who recently asked to leave my island. Hopefully Drago and Celia will ask to leave soon so I can hunt for Muffy and Frett. I feel sort of ambivalent about Patty and Vivian so replacing them is not a priority, but I would probably let them leave if they asked.
My House
I don't know where to put my house. It is currently on the bottom right of the island where I intend to put the botanical gardens. I figure it can either go center top, between the castle/graveyard and dig site areas or above the botanical gardens but below the lake/fishing spot.
Okay update! I think this is the plan for the botanical garden area and my character's house. I was thinking of having a sunken area with waterfalls and a bridge to the area with my character's house on the second level.
(something like this)
I've started on the botanical garden area and there was not space for all three bridges they way it's drawn on this map. I will post screenshots when it's done.
I'm not sure what to do on the beaches, the area left of the neighbourhood, the area between the shops and the cliff, or the area above the East river mouth. If you have any ideas for smaller builds to put there, let me know.

It's scary to be transgender in the world right now but if you're transgender I love you and we have to stick together and keep fighting and keep living and keep loving
turns out the thing I've been anxious about for two weeks was actually fine, I'm sure I will take this learning to the next time I'm needlessly anxious /sar
