As recently as 1988, more than 40 percent of theatrical U.S. box office sales were achieved with original stories; that share of the box office fell to 6 percent by 2019. Meanwhile, the establishment and continuation of franchises, which used to occupy about a quarter of the market, has since risen to occupy nearly three-quarters, with other types of adaptations accounting for most of the rest.

You can only see in others what your nature allows you to see. The range of your vision depends on the extent of the personal development. The personal, if it is deep enough, becomes universal, mythical, symbolic; I never generalize, intellectualize. I see, I hear, I feel. These are my primitive instruments of discovery.
