this app is literally my public private place to talk to myself
That moment when you realize that your deranged food cravings, inability to sleep because too hot AND too cold and just generally restless, unquenchable thirst and then needing the bathroom every 12 minutes … turns into neck pain and a headache … and oh, I guess that was just an oncoming menstrual migraine 😏 Like I didn‘t have that a hundred times before. 🙈

Someone said, “The reason you isolate when you’re struggling is because you were left alone as a child to deal with your emotions” and I felt that.
Oh...
Huh.
read the entire script here
Is everyone alright?! 😭😭😭
Why did you think that ending was necessary? I mean given the real life situation then yeah, but clearly this Rebecca Godfried was fictional and therefore could have had a fictional ending.
Because they got what they needed from seeing each other again. Because they never had the opportunity to be at peace away from each other, and they have some things they need to do on their own, I think it's important for them to be able to feel that they will always love each other and will always be able to find each other while not being tormented by those feelings.
On top of that, more widely about the show, I felt like this was some sort of goodbye between the show and Rebecca Godfrey. Setting the fictionalized version of her off after the real author had so much influence on the show. I'm not sure how to explain it further than this vague inkling so you'd have to forgive me. But it felt right.
Of course anything is possible in the fictionalized world they built, this is just me.
I thought it was done perfectly.
A ‚happy‘ ending for Cam and Becca would have been disingenuous to the overall story. This wasn‘t a sapphic romance - this was a story about guilt, responsibility, regret and forgiveness and eventually healing from injustices incurred. Cam and Becca‘s story served a purpose - that of showing that year‘s down the line, we can come to terms with awful things we did or were done to us, if we face them and forgive ourselves and others and take actions to repair and mend what can be restored.
And it did that all while still ending their story on a hopeful, optimistic note. The tenderness in the way Cam grasped Becca‘s hand was palpable. The ‚I love you, always forever‘ playing in the background was intentional. Their ending did not feel like a final goodbye, the intention behind ‚It was good seeing you’ holding the promise of there being more ‚seeing you’ down the line and that their paths would cross again, sooner or later.
Goodbye, Cam and Rebecca... 💕 Based on the non-fiction book by Rebecca Godfrey UNDER THE BRIDGE (2024)
[+] LGBTQ 🏳️🌈 [+] ..more on “Under the Bridge” 🎬 Cam and Rebecca’s story concludes on a rather bittersweet note. One could have wanted more for these two characters. It’s a quiet and carefully plotted ending by its writers that did not steer away from the focus of the story. The slightly altered yet true events were thoughtfully woven into the series’ conclusion. Would really like to applaud everyone for handling this story with such care, and sensitivity. You should absolutely see this show—it’s truly quite special.
Rest in Peace: 🕊️ Rebecca Godfrey, Reena Virk, Suman Virk, Jonathan Godfrey

It was sad seeing them fighting, but watching this scene brought clarity to Rebecca’s perspective. It wasn’t because she saw her brother in Warren—she was Warren. Reflecting on it, how difficult it is when we snap, our ill feelings just take over, and the events that come after that. Did she cause her brother’s death? Whatever is… it must’ve always felt for her, like she did.
Rest in Peace: 🕊️ Rebecca Godfrey, Reena Virk, Jonathan Godfrey

i really believe that discussing the character with someone who shares ur interpretation is the closest u can get to modern day philosophy. we are like plato and aristotle but talking about a fictional guys trauma
Look, all I really want is to read 100‘000 word essays on Cam Bentland and Rebecca Godfrey and how they start on opposite sides being driven by their very different respective histories (Becca‘s feelings for Cam and her last harsh words to her brother and her neverending feelings of guilt and Cam always having played the good girl and never allowing herself to feel anything at all) and how they both learn to see where the other is coming from.
Becca through finally confronting her avoidance of the Virks and finally allowing herself to hear their accusations (she‘s always felt guilty, but never confronted her feelings and instead ran away, but came back and is finally able to confront what she‘s avoided her whole life and more recently with the blind spot she had with Warren).
Meanwhile Cam finally is starting to acknowledge that she‘s not a white the girl no matter how hard she tries to be good and fit in, finally standing up for herself. Allowing herself to empathize with Dusty, allowing herself to see a little bit of herself in Dusty if her circumstances had been only slightly less lucky. Empathizing and perhaps finally understanding where perhaps Becca might be coming from with her overempathizing with Warren. Finally understanding that these kids were in a fucked up situation and Dusty being between a rock and a hard place.
They‘ve both been on journeys to heal a part of themselves. A journey they needed to walk separately.
So now, if someone would like to share their delusions with how this is going to end well next week, please share with the class.
I‘d be writing fic if I weren‘t knee and arm deep in work.
(But willing to talk to anyone who would like to start a book club reading Under the Bridge because I read an excerpt somewhere and holy shit, the real Rebecca Godfrey seems to have actually been a really talented writer and I you know what words do to me. I mean, the angstier the better. But I really still like to be delusional that there‘s a Happy Ending for Cam and Becca.)
They are both very black and white initially and through their perspectives, the narrative unfolds and we start seeing different sides. And that‘s what this is, guilt in varying degrees of grey.
