Because apparently at some point they stood with their noses touching and Carrie’s hands reverently cradling Michael’s face (and if kissing did not then ensue i would be SHOCKED) and yet nothing of the kind took place in the final cut… so imagine Michael and Carrie just going completely off script and running into each other’s arms while Nolan et al were like, “uh, this isn’t in the script? back to your marks please?” Meanwhile Michael and Carrie are moving inexorably toward each other, two planets in the thrall of cosmic gravity, faces rapt and glowing, and Nolan is like “ummmm guys?” *Michael and Carrie pause, gaze into each other’s eyes, start making out* Nolan: “Fuck it. We’ll edit it out later to preserve the ambiguity of whether Finch lived or died keep it under time.”
