I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since this whole hellhole of madness started. I feel grateful and cursed at the same time for joining this fandom years ago. My friend introduced me to homestuck back in 2013 and I’m still a trash for this fandom till now. honestly most of the fandom I joined in 2013 are the ones I’m still addicted to. Of course the first time I read this webcomic I was shocked because there are too many pages and tons of texts. But, since my friend recommended it and I had the dedication to read it, I managed to catch up in a few months. It was painful at first. Plus, English isn’t my first language so I tried my best to understand the whole thing. No one knew about homestuck in my school so that online friend was the only one I could talk to about homestuck. this young man’s story entertained my teen life. I love him and his friends.

Sooo~o Devil May Cry 5′s production staff made reference to Hurricanger’s Movie.

 Apparently the lead artist for the game hideaki itsuno was a really big fan, and used it as an example in how you create emotionally impactful moments.

Since two Power Rangers actors and a former B-Fighter/Beetleborg are the main Voice Actors of the series for English fans, This got a big laugh out of me. “Why Hurricanger’s movie?  Why is this not a reference to the regular show?” Because the combining artifact they use for the final mech combination is a white-overtoned version of the regular one they get later, owned by a space-faring woman who dresses the same as the girl in the second image–

– and the monster they’re fighting is a dead-ringer for the movie Villain:

“Ah, Perry the platypus!”

“What an unexpected -“

“WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!”

“You’re trapped!”

“By societal convention!”

“Look! We’re in a fine dining environment. Everyone knows not to throw a scene in a fancy restaurant!”

“That’s right. You’re trapped. Sit down.”

Believe in yourself like the drunk, compulsive lying snake believes in you! 

break up your paragraphs. big paragraphs are scary, your readers will get scared

fuuuuck epithets. “the other man got up” “the taller woman sat down” “the blonde walked away” nahhh. call them by their names or rework the sentence. you can do so much better than this (exception: if the reader doesn’t know the character(s) you’re referring to yet, it’s a-okay to refer to them by an identifying trait)

new speaker, new paragraph. please.

“said” is such a great word. use it. make sweet love to it. but don’t kill it

use “said” more than you use synonyms for it. that way the use of synonyms gets more exciting. getting a sudden description of how a character is saying something (screaming, mumbling, sighing) is more interesting that way.

if your summary says “I suck at summaries” or “story better than summary” you’re turning off the reader, my dude. your summary is supposed to be your hook. you gotta own it, just like you’re gonna own the story they’re about to read

follow long sentences w short ones and short ones w long ones. same goes for paragraphs

your writing is always better than you think it is. you just think it’s bad because the story’s always gonna be predicable to the one who’s writing it
