ENDANGERED.
Semi-aquatic.
Closely related to the true monitor lizards in the family Varanidae.
The only member of its family.
They do have inner ears, and are capable of hearing, despite the lack of ear openings and tympana.

by the way this was prompted by seeing a rebuttal to a recent video criticising the final boss of SotE in which the responder claimed that, since the original video's creator's no-hit run of said final boss was too fast, it was a fluke and he is therefore bad at the game, which presumably carries the logical conclusion that any viewpoint of his is invalidated.
