hs2 is one of the few stories where i actually played multiple routes without hesitation. i really made the most out of those slots... some routes i enjoyed more than others, obviously. but god. i had forgotten how uncomfortable it is to read mc’s interactions with lucifer when he’s not your route.

in hs1 it was easier to forgive. it was one of the first stories, his route was the most popular, the writing was rough, and we can excuse it however we want. BUT !! in hs2 it just feels so, so forced ???

i think that’s one of the biggest flaws in the whole universe. the fact that lucifer can’t just exist as a friend. you can have that kind of dynamic with astaroth, mimi, dino, even hunger !!! but not luci. why.

and at some point in hs2 the favoritism becomes so obvious it starts to ruin the relationships between characters. like why the hell would lucifer pull the "touch her and i’ll kill you" card for an mc who didn’t even end the first game with him, who wasn’t with him during those ten years, and who, for no apparent reason, is now somehow different from every other woman to him (when five minutes earlier he was flirting with astrid)??? it’s a bit ridiculous. and kind of a shame, because like mimi, he could’ve been one of the mc’s best friends when not in his route. their personalities would’ve made that dynamic really good.

also, whether or not you’re on his route completely changes the tone of the chapters about him trying to reclaim his throne (again). it’s either option 1: "luci stop stop !! this isn’t you🥺 look at me", or option 2: "okay, done, good job, now back to the main plot."
