“Find her and leave. Find her and leave. Find her and leave.”

That was the only thought going through my head that August day. Find my sister and leave this bunk ass town. But so far my trail had been running cold. I trailed her through the woods, only to find a empty lockbox of crumbs. I could hear her giggling at night but whenever I reached for her I was met with silence. I could sense her curiosity, her frustration, but I could never link. I could never make that connection.

And fuck was that fucking frustrating.

But I had a plan.

“She had friends.”

The few scenes in her mind I was able to access whenever her guard was down. One called her a Weirdo. The other called a Freak. He called her El.

And he was who I needed to find her.

But to find him, that meant I needed to get close to someone else. And to do that? I had to do something I never wanted to do.

Cigarettes, Gasoline, and freshly sprayed Aqua Net. That’s what invaded my nose when I pulled into the parking lot. Mix that with yesterday’s overalls, someone’s Moms Mary Kay blush and the sweet scent of last years forgotten gym socks and you have Hawkins High School.

My cars door wasn’t even shut when the whispers started.

“Whoa Sam, check out that red VW!”

April - "When I first came to Hawkins, I had a mission. Find my sister and get the hell out. But after I met him, everything change.”

Before Vecna and a legendary metal solo in The Upside Down, there was an experiment who returned to the town she despised most for one reason alone: to find her "sister." But a complicated web of curiosity, dead ends, and lies leads her to something she never expected-friendship and love. For April (004), anything involving a real connection means risk. But maybe, just once, it's worth the bend.

Eddie - "I always hated putting names to things. And it's not like anyone ever saw me as more than a one-night stand. But after I saw her, suddenly I had a reason to try."

Another year at Hawkins High. Maybe this time the fractions will stick. But between locker rumors about the "Freak's" daddy issues, a summer fling gone wrong, and a drug raid gone worse, that doesn't seem likely. At least at Hawkins Music and Records, Eddie can find some kind of solace. That is, until the chords in his head are replaced by thoughts of her.

Set between September 1984 (ST2) and January 1986 (Pre-ST4), Dear Hailey is the prequel to the famed POV, A Slow Burn. Exploring and expanding the start of April and Eddie's story from the very first glance, it chronicles April's integration into The Party and Eddie's acceptance of the mistakes of his past.
