Carlotta's Playlist
Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
This is Carlotta's favorite song of all time. Growing up with her grandparents, she was constantly surrounded with older music from before her age. She never fails to embrace the 'old soul' she possesses and the feeling of pure happiness she get's from this song is a fool-proof way to make her smile from the inside, out.
La Vi En Rose - Louis Armstrong
The memory to this song is one Carlotta will never forget. Every time she hears the sweet, smooth tune that this song carries, she always thinks of the day her and her grandparents moved to Paris. The minute they got into the new house, her grandfather turned on the record player, took her grandmother by the hand, and waltzed around the living room singing along with the music. Carlotta received her cheesey, old ideas of romance from these two amazing people and this song will be one to always make her swoon and feel at bliss.
Drops of Jupiter - Train
Since Carlotta has really no recollection of her mother, she likes to imagine what she thought she was like. This was always the song that she would do that to. She's gotten a bit of an idea about her mother from the stories her grandparents have told her. And from what she's heard, her mom sounds like the most amazing person a girl could ever ask for. Happy tears will often fall from her eyes when she hears this song, and she never feels closer with her mom than when it is playing.
The Scientist - Coldplay
There are times where Carlotta feels happy emotions towards her parents, and times where she feels sad and angry. This is one of those sad and angry songs. She would always turn to this song during the times where she wanted nothing more than to go back to the start and make that car crash disappear. The Scientist represents almost exactly what she's thinking when she's wishing for all the memories she never got to experience with her parents.
Pirates & Mermaids - Francois-Paul Aiche & H. Scott Salinas
Everybody has that one secret song that they never share with anyone. This is that song to Carlotta. Back in Denmark, she grew up in a house right by the ocean and would regularly go out and sit on the rocks, just watching the tide go in and out. This song represents the two different moods of the ocean: rough and calm, yet both enchanting.
Iris - Goo Goo Dolls
Carlotta isn't exactly the most daring person out there. In fact, at times, she can be quite shy. She want's a true, serious love, like the one her grandparents share, more than anything in the world. The only thing is that she fears she might fall for someone from a completely different world than her own who won't love her for who she truly is.
How To Save A Life - The Fray
With the gift that Carlotta was blessed with, she likes to think of herself as a human form of a guardian angel. She feels that with the power of self-healing, it's her responsibility to protect people and watch over them so they don't get hurt and have to go through the tough time she went through with her parents.
Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
Carlotta is rarely negative about anything. Sure there are time's when she might be panicking about something, but that's pretty much it. However, during those times when negativity does happen to slip in, she can constantly count on this song to bring her optimism back to her original standards.
The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
Carlotta knows she doesn't quite fit in with everyone else her age. She is very mature and isn't quite as 'loose' as all of the other students. This song is a reminder that everything will be alright, it just takes some time for people to come around and realize that different is actually a good thing in a society when everyone tries way too hard to act the same.
Teenagers - My Chemical Romance
A lot of people, along with that one secret song, have the one song that isn't really their style of music, but they like it anyway. This song is one that gives Carlotta the chills. It represents how she feels toward those cold-hearted people that only believe in destruction and find joy in hurting people. It scares her how their are people, even some her age, that only like to torment others.
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
The love that Carlotta dreams about is sewed into every lyric in this song. She wants an everlasting love with someone who would find joy just laying down with her and forgetting about everything else. Pure and simple.
